I am a licensed structural engineer with ample professional experience in structures, architecture, and interior design. Throughout my professional career, I have worked on the development, management, and administration of residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects both in the public and private sectors. I have also routinely performed assessments, inspections, general oversight, and widespread consulting on all phases of many construction projects. I am proficient with tools used in the planning, permitting, quality assurance, and quality control of building projects. I also have broad knowledge of Ecuadorean and American material standards, building codes, and local ordinances.

RESIDENCIAL SUBDIVISION Quito, Ecuador | 2020 Performed the structural design for this residential project framed in structural steel. The project included feasability studies for the superstructure using concrete, structural steel, and cold-formed steel.

MALECON APARTMENT Guayaquil, Ecuador | 2019 Performed architectural and interior design as well project management for the renovation of this waterfront residence. The biggest challenge was to optimize the privacy of the unit while maintaining views to the Guayas river.

KAKAAKO APARTMENT REMODEL Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2018 Provided architectural and interiors design and drafting services for the renovation of the living spaces of this condominium residence. Photorealistic renderings were a key component in the development of this project.

MCKINLEY HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING W RENOVATION Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2018 A historic classroom building constructed in 1939, Building W was fully renovated to meet current building code standards. Performed structural design services for the two phases of the renovation.

MARRIOT RESIDENCE INN Kapolei, Hawaii, USA | 2017 Provided structural design and drafting for this four-story wood-framed hotel with 280 rooms. The wood strucute was modeled in three dimensions to clarify the configuration aof its thousands of members and their connections.

APARTMENT 501 AT THE CORAL STRAND Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2017 Performed concept studies for the remodel of this apartment unit. The work included the development of architectural and interiors photo-realistic renderings for serveral options, each with different layout of the interior spaces.

APARTMENT 501 AT THE CORAL STRAND Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2017 The scope of this project consisted of combining two existing apartment units into one. I prepared architectural and interiors concept studies for a handful of schemes. Each scheme had distince distribution of the new interior spaces.

BUILDING 1102 RENOVATION, HICKAM AIRFORCE BASE Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2016 Provided structural and ATFP design and drafting for the renovation of this 550,000-sf facility housing office spaces spread over 23 wings. Work for this multiphase project included floor strengthening, new elevators and stairs, etc.

603 COOKE STREET Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2015 This building was conceived as stacked prefabricated micro-dwelling units. Prepared all pertinent structural studies, including lateral-load-resisting-system solutions compatible with the modular/prefabricated program of the structure.

COMBAT AVIATION BRIGADE HOUSING, WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD Mililani, Hawaii, USA | 2015 Produced structural and ATFP design for a pair of 6-story buildings to accommodate 404 soldiers. The facility, which also includes a central utility plant, has a gross floor area of approximately 160,000 sf.

PBS HAWAII RENOVATION AND EXPANSION Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2015 An existing single-story building that was expanded horizontally and vertically to accommodate the new PBS production and broadcast facility. Provided structural design and structural drafting for this renovation project.

OUR LADY OF PEACE CATHEDRAL RENOVATION Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2014 The multi-phase renovation of this historic building included repairs to the existing structure as well as construction of a new chapel. Responsibilities included the structural design and drafting for all components of the project.

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS QUAD D RENOVATION Wahiawa, Hawaii, USA | 2012 Provided design and documentation of structural upgrades to meet current standards of ATFP and seismic construction. All new work was designed to preserve and uphold the architectural character of this historic building.

BUILDING 1492 BEQ RENOVATION, PEARL HARBOR NAVAL BASE Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2012 The structural scope of work for this renovation project consisted on the addition of a new elevator and two mechanical rooms on the sides of the building. A new gable roof was also added atop the existing flat roof.

PRODUCTION SERVICES SUPPORT FACILITY P-307 Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2011 Performed structural and ATFP design and drafting of this two-story precast concrete structure with structural steel-framed gable roofs. All structural work was designed to uphold the historic character of Pearl Harbor’s shipyard.

KIM RESIDENCE Kailua, Hawaii, USA | 2011 I was responsible for the structural design and drafting for two-story addition to an existing single-family home. The 2,850-sf addition is crowned by an inverted gable roof that gives this custom home very distinct look.

15 SOUTH HOTEL STREET RENOVATION Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2010 Provided structural design for the renovation of this historic building. The structural scope of work included the strengthening of existing brick masonry walls as well as replacement of portions of the floor and roof.

UPGRADE ASOC FACILITIES, WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD Mililani, Hawaii, USA | 2010 The project consisted of the transformation of an industrial warehouse into an office building. To achieve the change in occupancy, structural design services were provided to strengthen the building for seismic, wind, and blast loads.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER WAHIAWA ANNEX Wahiawa, Hawaii, USA | 2009 Provided structural design for this one-story wood framed structure with a hip roof. In order to meet Antiterrorism Force Protection requirements, structural steel frames were placed behind window openings to resist blast loads.

COLLEGE HILL / UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT'S RESIDENCE RENOVATION Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2008 Improvements primarily included structural repairs to the exterior and modifications to interior finishes. Provided services for the structural scope of work, which included repairs to the existing porte-cochere, roof, and lanai.

KAUAI COUNTY BUILDING RENOVATION Lihue, Hawaii, USA | 2008 Structural work performed during the renovation of this historic structure included repairs to the existing floor and roof slabs, installation of a new roof skylight, and attachment of a decorative cornice a the perimeter of the roof.

KAUAI COUNTY BUILDING ANNEX RENOVATION Lihue, Hawaii, USA | 2007 Restoration work of this historic property included structural repairs to the floor slab and termite-damaged roof timber framing. The architecturally exposed concrete floors were repaired under strict historic guidelines.

RITZ CARLTON KAPALUA RENOVATION AND EXPANSION Kapalua, Hawaii, USA | 2006 This $90-million renovation included a partial condominium conversion, guestroom modernization, and several additions to public facilities – all constructed in six months. Responsible for all structural design and drafting.

THE PINNACLE HONOLULU CONDOMINIUM Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2005 Provided the design for the structure of this 36-story luxury condominium located in downtown Honolulu. Responsibilities included the design of post-tensioned slabs and lateral analysis of the structure.

KEOLA LAI CONDOMINIUM Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2005 A 38-story tower on top of a 5-story parking and commercial retail structure. Designed various components of the structure including post-tensioned slabs. Managed the entire construction administration of the project.

PUUHONUA ADMINISTRATION BUILDING Honaunau, Hawaii, USA | 2004 Provided structural design for this new administration building supported on concrete pier foundations. The foundation piers are strategically located to not interfere with existing native Hawaiian petroglyphs found in the site.

PUUKOHALA HEIAU VISITOR CENTER Kawaiahae, Hawaii, USA | 2004 A 3,275 square foot visitor center. The roof, which evokes the shape of a wave, is framed with curved glue-laminated girders supported on three sides by masonry walls. Responsible for the design of the structure and its foundation.

NEW PAVILION AT THE WAHIAWA BOTANICAL GARDENS Wahiawa, Hawaii, USA | 2004 Performed the structural design of these three masonry building with woodframed roofs. The buildings are interconnected by a structural steel framed covered walkway.

LANIKEA AT WAIKIKI CONDOMINIUM Honolulu, Hawaii, USA | 2003 A 26-story high-rise on top of a 5-story parking structure. Designed various structural components including the floor slabs and roof. Actively participated throughout the construction administration phase of the project.

SHERATON KEAUHOU BAY RENOVATION Kona, Hawaii, USA | 2003 The renovation of this hotel included seismic upgrades of the existing wings and construction of a new lobby wing with a porte–cochere. Performed the structural analysis and design of the new circular lobby wing.

BURJ KHALIFA Dubai, United Arab Emirates | 2002 This tower is at the center of a large-scale development and is currently the tallest building in the world. Provided feasibility studies of structural systems during the concept design stage of the project.

401 North Wabash Street Chicago, Illinois, USA | 2002 Performed conceptual studies of structural systems for this 92-story tower containing hospitality, residential, and commercial spaces. The tower is built on a site adjacent to the Chicago river and over existing underground rail lines.

QUANTUM TOWERS AT MINTO-MIDTOWN Toronto, Ontario, CanadA | 2001 This residential development consists of two towers, Quantum South with 37 stories and Quantum North with 54 stories. Participated in the preparation of the structural concept design and design development phases of the project.

THE MONTGOMERY CONDOMINIUM Chicago, Illinois, USA | 2001 The project consisted of transforming a 26-story office tower designed by Minoru Yamasaki in 1972 into a residential condominium. Developed the structural design of a new parking structure with a glass-clad spiral ramp.
