The restaurant Mordida is located in the Meierhausen house, a patrimonial construction designed and built in 1942 by the Swiss architect Victor Schmid, who bequeathed an important legacy representing the cultural and architectonic history of the capital.
- DAVID RESTREPO Y CÍA. Arquitectos, seeks to develop an open volume that fosters flexibility, vanishing points, spaciousness and luminosity. The MATERIALITY, the NATURAL ILLUMINATION in consonance with artificial lighting and the use of FURNITURE to characterize spaces were compelling to achieve the expected ambiance. -

The chosen materials reinforce the concept of a Bistro restaurant while complementing the patrimonial essence of the house. The use of natural materials such as stone in the floors and rustic woods in furniture and walls resembling the original plaster respects the language imprinted upon the house by the Swiss architect. Furthermore, the recuperation of the original lumber was a crucial procedure to preserve the ambiance of the house under a novel interpretation.
Custom-made furniture was developed, integrating the functional design proposal with the illumination concept.

The tight relationship between Schmid´s corner house and its urban surroundings served as the starting point for the conceptual development of the project. It positions itself as the final edge of Giordano Bruno´s lineal park, which hosts a relevant gastronomic and cultural scene. The house binds to the green plain through the visual relationships generated from the dining room in the front yard´s terrace and the second floor´s balcony.

The recuperation of the front yard as a terrace incorporates the park´s dynamics into the whole project. On the second floor, indirect illumination was arranged to attain volume and spaciousness. The light sources reveal the original structure of the roof, emphasize the original textures of the house and bathe the walls with light.

The starting point for the development of the concept was to design a climate architecture that created a comfortable environment inside the home without having the need of mechanical systems. The result was blind house sides containing a large central corridor that functions as a wind tunnel. In addition, the strategic location of the plot of land allowed us to develop a much more open house in order to appreciate the beautiful tropical landscape.

The inside of the house embraces the concept of soberness, designed to generate an environment of relaxation and comfort. The main characters are few. On one hand, the inside garden associated with the vertical circulation, creates an axis which allows to organize functionally the house, in a simple way, it delimitates the served spaces from the ones serving. This garden also places as the heart of the house, bringing inside one of the most beautiful aspects of Costa Rica, the exuberance and beauty of its vegetation.
INTERIOR RENDER
On the other hand, there’s the roof and its natural wood pieces, which besides being a structural element it becomes a decorative one, due to its materialness. Indirect lighting of the beams and joists texturize and gives a feeling of warmth and quiet devotion to the house, fundamental premise in interior design.

Microsoft is a company that has been growing in Colombia and their offices are scattered around the city. Looking for a more efficient operation and refresh their brand , Microsoft invite the most recognized ten companies bidding interior design from Bogotรก to develop their new offices. The project developed from a fit test that includes the development of 4 and a half floors , 2,829 square meters plus terraces of a building located in an exclusive area of the city.
The organizational concept of the company is fairly new in Colombia: less seats allocated, more itinerant seats and more variety in the types of enclosed spaces.

Besides contemplating the use of space , foster collaboration, attracting, developing and retaining talent , generate a stimulating sensory impact and welfare , the architectural concept was based on the principle of the pixel, be part and be all at once. Each part is critical because despite having an identity that sets a whole depends on it to exist. Therefore, the pixel refers to the flexible and functional integration that allows interaction of activities from the location of various spaces, which are interconnected giving place to various work dynamics.

The project proposes the reinterpretation of existing limits in the traditional building activities between cores. The proposal promotes the establishment of links and spatial relationships from a sequential and differential path denoting a gradual, fluid and dynamic movement between them.

The first time I went to Barcelona I was 9 and in fact for being that small I remember many things. Years later, I passed in front of a door that seemed too familiar. I didn’t know what exactly it was but I knew I had visited it when I was 9 and I was certain that it was Gaudi`s masterpiece, the PARC GUELL. I wasn’t wrong and best of all I could prove that we are the result from the history overlapping layers as well as the city is.
