Government

The government was a ruling family and priests. The government was also in charge of the mayans region. And even if the government was in charge they still worshiped the gods. The rulers were made rulers by sacrificing their blood. Mayans didn't have money so they used cocoa beans. When the mayans were in war the mayans prayed to the gods to win.


Food

Foods that they grew were corn, chili peppers, cocoa beans, beans, squash, potatoes, quinoa, tomatoes, and papayas. Did you know that they were the first tribe to grow cocoa beans and papayas and don’t forget that they were also the first to raise the turkey.A food that they mostly ate was tortious they graded the corn and fried it on a pan.


Art

To make art Mayans used stelae. They often used stelae to tell their culture. lt is used on monuments. The Maya is known for pottery and weaving. The Maya used clay for bowls, plates, cooking pots, statues and whistles. Maya used black, brown, orange, yellow, red and white colors for clay.


Religion

Maya believed the gods would bring corn only if they were obeyed and worshiped. The rain god and the corn god were two important gods because they made food to grow.


Recreation

A game mayans played was a ball game. There was two teams with fancy uniforms. They also had two hoops for each team. The town and king watches. All the mayan cities played because they all had a ball court. The game was also religious. The game was called poc poc. It was a game that they played and if you lose you get decapitated. And they used their hips. The balls were very hard and heavy.


Language

Mayan who could read and write who were mostly very high standard used word pictures. The Maya wrote books called codices. The codices told stories about rulers battles and Maya history. This is how they used their languages.


Education

Only powerful Mayas learn how to read and write from the priests and nobles and they also knew how to read and write in glyphs, but most Mayans did not know how to write or read, Instead they learned how to farm and make clothes from their parent. The high standard also had better education than the low standard.


Clothes

The Maya wore clothing made of cotton. Men liked to wear loincloths and patties. Rulers sometimes wore short skirts. Woman wore huipiles. On special days Maya wore earrings, nose rings, bands and sandals.


Technology

Maya picked the number 20, because that was the number of fingers and toes people had. Maya liked to keep track of Venus. Spanish people also made slaves of the Maya.


Civilization

No one knows for sure what happened in civilization. But they do know that around A.D. 900 the Maya started many of their cities. Also in the early 1500s, the Spanish found 60 Maya cities and tried to take them but failed.

Architecture

Some times of architectures are Temples, Mayan ruins, Emperors home, Chichen Itza, Resurgence of campeche, and don’t forget the very famous Palenque and It was also built before the emperor Pacal, and also corbeled for more than 1000 years old.


Social Organization

Most of the people had the same jobs like farmers and builders who were mostly men and weavers who were mostly woman. The things that builders made were houses and temples. And then woman made clothes and jewelry. The townspeople were loyal to the rulers and the government. Also the high classed people got more money than others. The rich also had better education and more rights.


Economics

The economics they did was many things. One thing was trading jewelry they traded necklaces, rings, and bracelets. They also pay with coco beans. They give blood to the gods because they believe that good things will happen. The mayans also believed that gods would bring crops if you gave them blood. Jobs were farmers, hunters, and fisher.
