Jules Robert Bachelor of Architecture
I have recently obtained my Bachelors of Architecture from McEwen School of Architecture. With the continuation of my education, I am currently in my second year of the McEwen School of Architecture Masters program.
I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, which led to my overall interest in designing architecture holistically with the environment and the climate.
My current interests lie in residential design, encompassing renovation projects, custom homes, and affordable housing.

A condominium unit that required extensive renovations. After the city allowed for the removal of multiple walls, another plan showcasing the updated arrangement was made providing an open and functional layout. To visualize the proposed changes and convey the essence of the design, a detailed 3d model was generated, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of each space. The design aimed to provide a contemporary, masculine, and open environment for the inhabitant. In terms of aesthetics, the material palette played a crucial role. Warm tones were juxtaposed with cooler accents, achieving a harmonious balance that evoked a sense of coziness and modernity for a timeless atmosphere.

The exhibition presents our research on low-carbon housing, bio-based materials, and prefabricated assemblies tailored to northern Ontario’s climate. Prototypes were developed through 3d modeling and the use of a CNC machine using bio-based materials sourced within the North addressing the affordability and sustainability crisis in accordance with Bill 23. Starting with an analysis of conventional practices, the focus shifted towards progressive and sustainable approaches within a prefabricated framework, prioritizing the decarbonization of our built environment.
