USEFULINFO Russia is a vast country spanning 9 time zones: European Russia (including Moscow & St Petersburg) and Asiatic Russia (from the Urals to Siberia). The time zone of International Congress is Moscow & St.Petersburg: TZ2 - GMT+4, MSK In June and July Moscow hits its stride with balmy temperatures ranging from the mid 20s to the low 30s. Hay fever suffers may struggle with the dusty air and high pollen count which the summer weather brings with it.
Toilets are easy to find, but just in case look for the following cyrillic letters

The electrical current in Russia is 220 volts AC, 50Hz. Most sockets are standard European size with double-round-pin plugs. It makes sense to bring an adapter just in case.
Currency & money exchange
The local currency is the Russian ruble. The ruble is the only currency used in the Russian Federation for all cash transactions. The ruble comes in denominations worth 1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 roubles. Now exchange rate is from 30 to 33 roubles for 1 USD and from 40 to 42 roubles for 1 EUR. You can use currency converter to check the latest information - http://www.xe.com/ucc/#converter. We advise to exchange money ONLY through officially licensed banks and their exchange points, NOT in kiosks or in the streets, since this is less secure and you run the risk of receiving counterfeit rubles, dollars or other troubles. According to a new regulation all individuals, either local or foreign, must show their passport in order to change money in officially licensed banks.

hour
Note: Do not carry a large amount of money. Keep your wallet in an inner pocket and carry with you only what you know you will need. Try not to attract attention to your cash and credit cards in public places; do not make it obvious that you have money with you.
One of the good things about Russia, unusual to many travellers - it isn’t difficult at all to find a place to get food or drink, even in the middle of the night. Usually even department stores are open till 10 -11 pm, workday or weekend. So, if you see the 24-sign (24 часа) - there is no mistke :)

For most travelers leaving Russia you will just need to go to the GREEN (nothing to declare) channel and you do NOT need to complete the ‘Customs and Currency Declaration Statement’ upon arrival or departure (unless you are carrying thousands of dollars in cash with you). Any art works, icons etc that are over 100 years old cannot be taken out of the country. Travelling to most countries you can legally take 200 cigarettes and 2 litres of hard alcohol out with you. To some countries such as Estonia, the allowance is less.

USEFULINFO And a couple of things to keep in mind
Sometimes, knowing what NOT to do is even more important if you want to fit in or at least produce a good impression.
Don’t underdress Going to a restaurant or a theatre is considered a festive occasion, and you run risk to be the most underdressed person in the restaurant, if you want to show up in your jeans and T-shirt, no matter how informal you think the restaurant may be. In any case, checking on the dress code before going out somewhere, especially a night club, is a good idea.
Don’t go dutch Here's where Russians differ strikingly from Western Europeans. They don't go Dutch. So, if you ask a lady out, don't expect her to pay for herself, not at a restaurant or anywhere else. You can, of course, suggest that she pay,or for god sake, to pay for you as well, but that absolutely rules out the possibility of seeing her again. She may not even have money on her and will consider going out with you her greatest mistake in life.
Don’t overlook the eldery on publick transport In Russia, if you don't offer the elderly and pregnant women a seat on a bus, the entire bus looks at you as if you're a criminal. Women, even (or especially) young ones, are also offered seats on public transportation. But that's optional. Getting up and offering a seat to an elderly person, on the other hand, is a must.
AIESEC International Congress 2012 | Moscow, Russia
Don’t let a woman carry smth heavy This rule may make politically correct people cringe, but Russians believe that a man is physically stronger than a woman. Therefore, they believe a man who watches a woman carry something heavy without helping her is impolite.
