To sustain economic progress over time, it is necessary to prepare future generations and promote the renewal of knowledge and skills in the various professions and performances of the population. These new initiatives not only give rise to buildings, but they will be transformed into instruments that allow reaching objectives closer to the general welfare of the population, which encourages and seeks closeness among people who share the same territory, accompanied by awareness social and cultural development. The architectural proposal is based on passive bioclimatic criteria of the principles of tropical architecture. It incorporates dynamic concepts with optimal circulation through wide and open spaces that allow a free visualization of the material and human resources. For these spaces, we contemplate the age range of the different users, with specific and diverse purposes for each one of them. Therefore, three buildings with different activities were created to supply the future demand of the population. These buildings are connected by landscape elements that offer a space harmony and recreation, highlighting in turn the native flora of Panama. Julia Aguilera | Portfolio - Selected Works 2013-2020

TRANSPORTATION TERMINAL IN CHEPO | ARCHITECTURE
Location
Julia Aguilera | Portfolio - Selected Works 2013-2020
Location: Chepo, East Panama Intervention area: 2500 m2 Use: Private Building In collaboration with Ar architecture and ing. Client: Co-op of transporters of Chepo Status: Conceptual project / 2018
The terrestrial transport terminals have always been built with the function of agglomerating the encounters of the vehicles that respond to a fundamental need for all the inhabitants: mobilize. In this project we have combined these two events to create that complement between one and the other. Create an architectural fact that in addition to responding to the needs of a terminal does not become a victim of misuse and deterioration, and the integration of commercial spaces. One of the way to pursuit this goal is through the identity of the site. Through collective memories projected in the urban image the building will be highlighted through the time in which it is located.

We have designed a prototype tourist information and orientation stand. It seeks to provide specialized and informative attention to national and international visitors. The proposal wants to create new jobs for the indigenous community, mainly women. The prototype will have a bar of soft drinks and light meals, areas of tables, administration, bathrooms, exhibition area and storage warehouse. The concept of the project consists of two volumes on land, orthogonal polygonal disarmament. The main structure of the prototype is based on containers for greater ease and is covered with wood inside. It also has stretched canvas structures to provide shade. The landscaping is made up of autochthonous flora.

This project is a proposal for architectural design presented at the 4th Student Biennial - CLEFA 2012 Ideas Contest. This new urban cultural facility located on the Cinta Costera, resembles its composition to a song that has been sculpted by the water that surrounds it or by the superposition of multiple strata of sediments that make up dejection cones in the territory. This proposal presents a possible scenario in which the yacht and fishing club is transferred to another sector of the city to give up its site of approximately 17.8 hectares for the creation of a socio-cultural urbanism project. This project interprets the work of architectural design as a strategy to cultivate new Uranian elements through adaptability and evolution, understanding that architecture is not limited to the specific design of buildings in a given site, but is closely related to the capacity of generate and build new contexts.

Location: Sakakah, Saudi Arabia Intervention area: 2500m2 Use: Public Building In collaboration with Laap.space Client: Library Dar-al ulluom Work: Landscape architecture and landscaping Status: Accomplished / 2018
The proposed campus for the Dar Al-Uloum Library in Sakaka represents a new oasis in the city. A space for knowledge, recreation and urban life. The spaces are linked through a continuous pavement, the constant flow of water and an alignment of date palms. The pools are located in junctions between adjacent spaces, connecting them and generating new spaces of permanence and appreciation of nature. The circular seating spaces are arranged around olive trees, myrrh and incense and its shade, and offer spaces for reading and socializing in the open air. A public square of 2,500 square meters is proposed at the north entrance of the campus, suitable for large public festivities. A series of strategies are implemented in landscape intervention to improve ecological sustainability. A palette of native vegetation encourages landscape resilience and reduces maintenance costs. The lavender fields of the Al-Jouf region evoke in design, bring the memory of the largest landscape to the city. Shade is provided in the main axes of the pedestrian circulation to increase human ecological connectivity within the site and the wider context of the city.

Location: Ancon, Distrito de Panama: Intervention area : 2500 m2 Use: Public space In collaboration with Ensitu S.A Client: Smithsonians Tropical Research Institute Status : Conceptual project / 2012
The main intention in this project is the connection through the different buildings that are currently located in the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute by its acronym STRI, based in Panama, creating an oasis of tropical forest in their midst. Under this concept of forest (protection, shadows), the marquee through a pattern of columns and the perforation of metal plates, projected intentional shadows mostly “guarumo during daylight hours. Taking into account the existing flora on the site, we try to complement and offer the user the feeling of that tropical jungle that characterizes Panama.

GREEN ROOF |
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
Location
Location: Bella Vista, District of Panama Intervention area: 605 m2 Use: Private Building In collaboration with Verdegreen s.a Client: Ph. Davivienda Status : Builded / 2016
Davivienda Green Roof design is based on the principles of sustainability, one of the most important aspects is to reduce the heat island effect. The chosen vegetation is native and adapted to the context. The green roof provides an outdoor gym to promote sports within the users, as well as a recreational area where you can relax and disconnect from the stress of daily work. The landscape is based on green roof vegetation to integrate a similar nature from the beginning. Design principles: enjoy and improve the quality of people’s environment, thermally isolate the building, acoustically isolate, improve air quality, better manage rainwater, mitigate the effect of the island and double the life of the waterproofing of the roof.

DESIGN OF A INTERIOR GREEN WALL | LANDSCAPING Location
Julia Aguilera | Portfolio - Selected Works 2013-2020
Location: Santa MarĂa, Distrito de Panama: Intervention area: 9.24 m2 Use:Private residence In collaboration with Verdegreen S.A Client: Private residence Status: Builded / 2017
The green walls are placed in the main bathroom of the residence. The shower is the protagonist of the space, it has a rectangular and spacious configuration, naturally lit by a skylight, which allows more easily the growth of vegetation. There are benches on both sides of the shower, which resembles a mirror-like design due to its similarity. Thanks to the indirect light and the humidity of the space a perfect microclimate is created to select tropical species of half shade, simulating a natural shower inside the jungle.

DESIGN OF A EXTERIOR GREEN WALL | LANDSCAPING
Location: Costa del Este, District of Panama Intervention area: 3.40 m2 Use: Private residence In collaboration with Verdegreen S.A Client: Private residence Status: Builded / 2017
Location
A green wall is always a source of joy in the home, as it promotes an approach to nature. For the design of this green wall, the existing lighting standards were contemplated to select the most suitable plants. The humidity, ventilation and temperature conditions were also analyzed during the morning and afternoon. Some of the design principles on which we base ourselves are summarized as: creating thermal comfort, attenuating noise, improving air quality, beautifying and connecting residents with nature.

DESIGNING AND ENSAMBLED A SAUNA | FURNITURE DESIGN
Location: City of Knowledge, Canal areas Intervention area: 3.30m2 Use: Furniture In collaboration with Forest Finance Status: Builded / 2015
Forest Finance Group develops and operates sustainable forest products. It converts the value of these certified forests and sustainable management into ecological and economic investment products. One of its categories is the production of furniture with certified wood. For this project, I was commissioned to design a teak wood sauna, with the ability to assemble and disassemble on site. In addition to the design, I had to make an assembly manual for its construction. Next, I will show some photos of the processes for the realization of this piece.
