Interior design is a medium that has the power to alter one’s emotions and affect human behavior. Design manifests as a creative solution both within and outside the built environment that often requires extensive understanding and a variety of perspectives. Likewise, I’m an interior designer that uses my interest in interdisciplinary thinking to create spaces that deepens the user experience, influence emotions, and affect human behavior.

What is Biomimicry?
Group Project Role: Interior Designer 2019 Fall Revit, Photoshop
What is Biomimicry? The conscious emulation of life’s genius. Biomimcry practices emulation where humans apply nature’s design principles to develop solutions that are conducive to life. Examples include the application of kingfisher’s aerodynamic silhouette to design the Japanese Bullet Train.

Georgia Coast Ecology and Organisms We faced a challenge of abstracting biology to more efficiently build from its vital structure. A simple way to realize these abstractions was through the conception of functions cards. These cards each distill a function of an organism and a break down translation of how we could incorporate them into a design.

Organism Solution
The Black Skimmer feeds by dropping its lower beak into the water skimming for food as it is flying, allowing the bird to find necessary nutrients on the go.
Oysters pull ocean water through gills, which filters both nutrients and harmful, unclean materials out, feeding the oyster and returning water cleansed of harmful material
The Box Turtle smears saliva on its body to keep their internal body temperature below 90• F, as the moisture of the saliva evaporates the turtle cools off.

MECHANISM The Cannonball Jelly and the Portly Spider Crab have a symbiotic relationship. The toxic mucus in the tentacles of jelly which shocks other predators and organisms doesn’t affect the Portly Spider Crab, so they are able to make their homes in the umbrella heads of the Cannonball Jelly. The Cannonball Jelly catches and feeds on zoo-plankton, the extra zoo-plankton that the jelly catches are the perfect source of food for the Spider Crabs. The Spider Crab feeds on excess zoo-plankton as well as on other organisms and particles that are within the jellyfish’s head, cleaning the jellyfish in the process of eating these organisms. By relying on each other, the crab stays fed and the jelly stays clean. This relationship is mutualistic, both organisms benefiting each other.

The Cannonball Jelly and Portly Spider Crab have a mutualistic relationship, the crab feeds on excess food the jelly catches and in exchange cleans the jelly.
Schooling Fish successfully ward off predators by self organizing within their school as each fish responds to the movements of neighboring fish by following their lead.
Hermit Crabs exchange shells when a group of crabs has outgrown their shell, they line up and trade shells down the line giving away their old shell and getting a new one!
Loggerhead Sea Turtles use the unique code within Earth’s magnetic field of the beach they hatched on to navigate back to that same beach to lay their own eggs.

...use dynamic organization to stay unified as a team?
...implement systems of value exchange for resources?
