Chapter 1: What is the Detox Diet? At one time, many believed that detoxification was only used to help those dependent on drugs and alcohol overcome their addiction. Detoxification is still used for these purposes; however, many are now using detoxification to improve their health. One of the ways this is done is with the detox diet. Those interested in cleaning the body from potentially harmful chemicals and toxins want a step-by-step plan for the detox diet. Yes, these plans are available, but you will find some variances. Why? Because the detox diet comes in a number of different formats. In fact, perform a standard internet search with the phrase “detox diet, and you will find many different plans. So, which is best for you? In all honesty, it depends on your own personal preferences. When choosing a detox diet plan, it is important to remember the goal of detoxification. That goal is to expel and rid the body of potentially harmful toxins. Even if you do not consume alcohol or use drugs, it is possible for these toxins and chemicals to make their way into our bodies. In fact, recent studies have shown that there is a lot more than fluoride in some of our drinking waters. Since the main goal of detoxification is to cleanse your body and make it pure again, it is important to choose your foods wisely. First, examine the potentially harmful foods and drinks you are putting into your body. Are you a coffee or soda drinker? If so, caffeine is okay, but only in moderation. At the same time, caffeine is not something our body needs. For that reason, those looking to take a detox diet are encouraged to eliminate coffee or soda from their diet, even if just for the length of the diet. In addition to being dependent on caffeine, many coffee and soda drinks need the taste. This is common when flavored soda or coffee is consumed. To ease the transition, consume all-natural juice. In fact, if you have a juice maker, you could easily make your own 100% all-natural juice. Yes, water is best, but if you find yourself craving something with flavor, juice may be the perfect substitute.
To eliminate toxins from the body, they must be expelled. That is why foods that are high in fiber are recommended. A diet that contains fiber foods can help to regulate your digestive system. Essentially, this means that you will make regular, although not excessive, trips to the bathroom. In addition to fiber, water can help you flush your body. As previously stated, many of the foods we consumed are ridden with additives and chemicals. Although small in size and generally safe, these are things our bodies are not use to and do not need to survive. That is why a detox diet calls for the elimination of them. One of the best ways to detox your body with a detox diet is to eliminate foods that contain these added chemicals and additives. Online, you will see that many detox plans call for organic foods. Organic foods are a great way to detoxify your body, but what if you are on a budget? It is no secret that organic foods cost more. Examine your local grocery stores or all-natural food stores for sales. In addition to boxed organic foods, such as cereals or peanut butter, remember fruits and vegetables. You may find these organic prices to be cheaper. Plus, fruits and vegetables have their own health benefits. As for the length of a detox diet, you will find some variances. Some diets last as few as three days, while others can go for two weeks or more. In most cases, seven to ten days is recommended, but you will want to listen to your body. If a detox diet is too much for your body to handle, listen the warning signs and start incorporating your “traditional, food back into your diet. However, there many benefits to keeping components of a detox diet with you, such as the elimination of caffeine or the consumption of organic foods. The Pros and Cons of Body Detoxification Have you heard that a body detox, also known as a cleanse, has a number of health benefits? If so, you may be ready to try a detox diet. Before doing so, it is important to truly know what you are getting into. That is why you should first know the pros and cons of body detoxification. The Pros
Detox removes toxins from your body. The goal of a detox diet or cleanse is to expel unnatural toxins from your body. These toxins can come from foods, the environment, even contaminated drinking water. After a detox, your body may feel as if it is “new. Your options. Due to late night infomercials, many mistakenly believe that you need to buy a detox pill or foot patch. Yes, these items can help you, but they are not required. There are more natural ways for you to cleanse your body. Consuming organic only foods, exercising, increasing your water intake and your fiber intake can help to improve your body. Water fasting, juice fasting, and the Master Cleanse are other popular detox diets. Affordability. As previously stated, you do not need to buy pills or other overthe-counter products to detox. If you opt for a water fast, you can use your tap water. In terms of detox products, read reviews to find a product that works and then compare prices online. For organic, all-natural foods, look for the best deals, as well as moneysaving coupons. It is relatively easy. Body detoxification is a lot easier than many individuals first anticipate. The good news is that you can choose the process. Water fasting may produce the best result, but you may find the lack of foods to be difficult or even painful. In that case, the switch to organic foods with water and fiber can help you detox your body with ease and comfort. Weight loss. Body detoxification and cleansing is not considered a weight loss plan, but it typically results in weight loss. This is common when you eliminate unnatural foods from your diet, which are often high in sugar, sodium, calories, and fat. If your main goal is to lose weight, a detox diet is not recommended. On the other hand, if you want to improve your overall health, you can benefit from it. Increased energy. There is some debate as to whether or not a detox diet improves energy, but many claim it does. In fact, people who have successfully completed a detox diet were pleased with the results. When toxins build up inside the human body, it impacts the body and its internal organs in many ways. The Cons
The dangers. Yes, a detox diet has many benefits, but there are many risks involved. For that reason, you should consult with a healthcare professional before starting a strenuous detox diet, such as the Master Cleanse or a water fast. In keeping with the dangers, you can easily negate this con my listening to your body. If on a water fast and you start vomiting or fainting, it may be time to stop. Your body is signaling to you that it needs food. Many experts recommend cleansing the body for at least two weeks, but some cannot do so. Even if you water fast for three days, you should still see and feel many benefits. Detoxification: Cleansing Your Organs Cleansing the inside of your body has always been a big deal to those who advocate the use of detoxification diets. Indeed, there are many benefits to those who actually use these types of diets properly. Not only can one experience a healthier immune system that will help fight off diseases better and more efficiently, but the internal body will be much better off for undergoing detoxification. If you have ever wondered about some of the other benefits that you could have by involving yourself and your body in a detoxification diet for a weekend, here is some food for thought: #1: Your Colon is Cleansed Many people focus on colon cleansing as the absolute source of a detoxification diet. Even though the colon is not the only organ that should be focused on during a dieting weekend, it certainly will help the body in the long run. Consider what the main functions of the colon actually are in the body. The colon is used to excrete wastes from the body, but another purpose of the colon is used in water absorption. These two functions are crucial to having and keeping a healthy body. By undergoing a detoxification process one is able to have a healthy colon so that it will function more properly. Let's face it: after years of digesting fatty foods, foreign substances, along with other harmful things our colon may not be functioning well at all. But the detoxification diet will include natural fruit and vegetable juices that will aid the colon in getting rid of any wastes that were there before. #2: Your Kidneys are Cleaner
One of the organs in your body that does a terrific job of keeping your entire body and system clean is your kidney. Even though kidneys are several of the organs that are taken for granted, the kidneys do filter out a lot of the horrible substances that enter them. For example, filtering out alcohol by-products is just one instance in which your kidneys do its job excellently. On the other hand, there is no way that your kidney is able to filter out every single small harmful particle. Because of this individuals and health food experts recommend that a detoxification must be done! Not only are the kidneys cleaner, but they will also be able to do their job more properly than before the detox process. #3: A Healthy Immune System Of course, there are plenty of other benefits that one can experience by undergoing a detoxification system, but the major benefit and goal of it all is to have a healthier immune system. Let's face it: each winter everyone usually experiences nasty bacterial colds, influenza, whooping coughs, as well as a variety of other diseases that are not necessary. Even though there is no commercial way to get rid of these diseases, a detoxification is able to help and boost the immune system so that these same diseases and ailments are cured instantly! When we consider all the benefits of a detoxification diet, there is much evidence to suggest that we all need to undergo a cleansing process ourselves. By keeping up with our detox diet and making sure that we use it properly we are only making a healthier system for our bodies!
Chapter 2: Why Your Body Needs a Detoxification Gasoline smells and fumes, road construction smoke that enters your car when your windows are down, second-hand cigarette smoke that comes from a smoking stranger nearby, paint thinner fumes, highlighters, unknown substances that burn while cooking, fast food hamburgers and cheeseburgers, as well as many other foods and random fumes that we are exposed to make a certain impact on our bodies. All of these impacts are usually negative. On the flip side, though, there are several ways in which one can overcome these negative effects. One sure-fire way to rid yourself and your body of all the unknown substances that enter your lungs and your body is a total body detoxification. If you have never heard what that is before then you may just be in for a surprise. But it turns out, though, that a true body detoxification will really help your whole health in the end and it is a practice that everyone should engage in. Creating a Healthier Body As mentioned, there are plenty of unknown fumes and ingredients that we come in contact with on a daily basis that literally destroys our bodies. Whether we know it or not, we are all victims and offenders of destroying our bodies. For example, the amount of fat in a typical fast food hamburger is enough to feed somebody for a week, however, it is all used up in one simple meal that won't even sustain us for the rest of the evening. As this situation illustrates, there are plenty of ways in which we make poor decisions in our life. Because of this, though, is why everyone needs to experience a total body detoxification. Positive Effects of a Detox Creating a healthier body, though, is not just the only reason that we should be engaging in total body cleansing. One positive effect that a detoxification can have on the body is to improve our body odor. Many people don't realize that body odor can become a major problem and that detoxification is able to overcome it. Another positive effect that detoxification can have is that it can clear our minds. Once our physical bodies become detoxified then our mind becomes clear and we can think and engage in
mental activity better than we could before. All of these things will help us do whatever work we need to engage in throughout the week. Another major effect of a detoxification process is that our organs will also be cleaner. Not many people think about the fact that our colon, kidneys, liver, as well as many of the other organs that we have all do rigorous work day in and day out. This is something that we take for granted, however, detoxification can change everything and make all of our organs cleaner in order to function properly. As you can see, detoxification is truly important in the lives of everyone. Even though not everyone has been used to the detoxification process, it is literally our responsibility to keep our bodies clean. Following a cleansing process will definitely help use through every facet of our lives! Important Reasons for Detoxification Thousands of individuals all over the world routinely perform body detoxification plans on themselves in one form or another. There are many reasons for this, but the major one is to have a complete healthy body restored to life. There are so many things throughout our daily lives that destroy the bodies that we live in, and a detoxification plan aims to restore not only your immune system, as well as many other things on the inside of your body. But don't take my word for it. Here are some reasons that those who usually perform body detoxification methods usually cite whenever speaking out the greatness of a total body cleanse: #1: Substance that are Inhaled or Ingested There are literally millions, possibly billions, of foreign substances that we inhale each week because of situations that are beyond our control. For example, when driving in your car you have no control over the smells that flow in and out of the car. Gas fumes, sulfur, paint ingredients, second-hand cigarette smoke, pesticides that are in our foods, shampoos for our hair, lawn care chemicals, along with virtually everything else under the sun, are all types of things that we inhale on a regular basis. Our minds are not aware of the horrible things that we come in contact with every day of our lives, but our bodies definitely are aware. Our bodies are made aware through the sicknesses and ailments that we face on a regular basis. For this reason, a total body detoxification is
needed to rid the body of these horrible substances that we come in contact with throughout the days, months, and years that we live. #2: Stress on the Body Another reason that those who perform total body detoxification methods cite is because of stress on the body. Of course, there is such things as good stress that we all experience, but then there are also bad stresses in our life. Certainly chronic stress is a major problem if we face that, but everyday stresses that we experience can take a toll on the body in the form of true sicknesses that we don't need. Everyone's body systems break down eventually at one time or another, but stresses can make the process a whole lot quicker! Those are the two major reasons that are cited for a body detoxification plan. There definitely are some good arguments for performing one, but then the question also turns to what exactly needs to be done in order to perform a body detoxification. If you are enthusiastic about having a better and healthy body, then some of the things that you may need are right in your local health food store. For example, herbal remedies are perfect when planning a detoxification because they will help go throughout the body to fight off pathogens and bring new and healthful substances to the organs. Other things that one must digest while performing a body detoxification plan include fresh and natural vegetable juices, fresh fruit juices that are naturally squeezed and blended, along with vegetable soups that contain vegetable broth, and plenty of water. Water is the number one source of body cleansing, which is why it should be consumed daily. Whether or not you realize it, though, the body does need all the detoxifying it can get. Because of foreign pathogens, unknown substances that we inhale, and stress on our bodies, we naturally become sick. The only way to cleanse ourselves, therefore, is through a total body detoxification!
Chapter 3: Detoxify Your Body - Which Approach to Take? Do you want to cleanse or detoxify your body? If so, you will find that you have a number of options. There are many ways to detoxify your body, but which approach is right for you? When it comes to a detox diet, you will find a lot of information and sample plans online. You can see this just by performing a standard internet search. Although the goal of detoxification and a detox diet are the same, you will find a lot of varying information. For example, some professionals recommend simply just stripping foods and drinks with unnatural additives from your diet. On the other hand, some go as far to suggest water fasting or the popular Master Cleanse. As for whether or not a detox diet is right for you, it depends on which approach you opt to take. One of the safest ways to detoxify your body is to modify your diet.
For
example, are you a diet soda drinker? If so, you are putting a lot of unnatural chemicals into your body. Although it is not stated that you need to give up drinking diet soda completely, it is recommended that you stop drinking for a detox or cleanse. This is because you cannot effectively cleanse your body while still consuming unnatural additives. In keeping with altering your diet, it is recommended that you consume foods that are high in fiber. Fiber will help to improve your digestive system. This will allow the expelling of toxins from your body. Foods that are high in fiber include split peas, black beans, lima beans, artichoke, and raspberries. In addition to adding extra fiber to your diet, increased water consumption is recommended. Water fasting is another form of detoxification that is popular. With that said, water fasting is not as safe as restricting your diet. This is due in part to the complete elimination of foods. With water fasting, only water in consumed. In terms of safety, many take part in water fasts for religious purposes. This has occurred safely for years. Despite this, a water fast is not recommended for everyone.
Those with health
conditions or dietary needs are advised against participating in water fast, unless under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Similar to water fasting is juice fasting. Juice fasting relies on the consumption of juice only. Those who opt for a juice fast need to consume all-natural juice, with no additives. Many prefer using a juicer to create their own unique and tasty blends of juice. Popular choices include wheatgrass juice, fruit juice, vegetable juice, and herb juice. The Master Cleanse is another detoxification or cleansing option that has increased in popularity due to celebrity participation in recent years. On the Master Cleanse, no solid foods are consumed. Drinks are made from grade b maple syrup, lemon juice, water, and cayenne pepper. Since some nutrients are provided, many find this approach easier to adjust to than a water or juice fast. As for the length of detox diets, you will find that they vary. With water fasting alone, it is common to find those who fast for a little as three days, but for up to a week. The length of your detox diet should depend on the approach you take. Restricting your diet to all-natural foods is something your body can get use to overtime and there is added health benefits. With that said, you can still benefit from restricting your diet to all-natural foods even just for a week. As for water fasting and juice fasting, seven days is often regarded as the maximum.
The best advice is to ask a healthcare
professional. At the conclusion of your detox diet, you will be faced with a huge decision. That decision is how you want to proceed. There are many who return to their normal diets, which may include processed foods with unnatural additives. These individuals often opt to detoxify their body once or twice a year. On the other hand, you can decide to make a change. Switching to organic foods or simply just limiting the processed foods you consume can do wonders for your overall health all year long.
Chapter 4: The Water Fast The process of detoxification dispels unnatural chemicals and toxins from your body. Even those who lead relatively healthy lifestyles can still benefit from an occasional detox. If you are interested in detoxifying your body, you will likely turn to the internet. Online, you will find a lot of free information, including detailed guides. You will also soon see that there are many ways to detox or cleanse the body. A few examples include limiting calorie intake, consuming organic foods only, and fasting. Due to affordability, many opt for a water fast. Before you, yourself, opt for a water fast, it is important to know the benefits, as well as the dangers. Water fasting can be free. The fact that we all have free access to water is one of the reasons why a water fast is a popular way to detoxify the body. Water can be filled with chemicals. Recent studies have hit the news circuits and they show that many cities have water that contains chemicals. Small traces of some prescription drugs have found in some water samples. Although you may have clean drinking water, it can be difficult or next to impossible for you to know. For that reason, you may opt for bottled water, which can get costly. No solid foods are consumed. The fact that no solid foods are eaten during a water fast is both considered an advantage and a disadvantage. As for the advantages, it makes it easier for you to detox your body. It takes both time and energy for food to be digested. Without solid foods, your body can rid itself of toxins easier and quicker. Lack of nutrients. As for the disadvantage of not consuming solid foods, there is a lack of nutrients. Water is an important component of our body’s ability to survive, but so is food. Our bodies depend on it to flourish. With that said, those who are healthy and do not have medical conditions, can survive on a water fast, although it may be difficult for your body to adjust.
The adjustment. Speaking of adjusting to a water fast, the difficulty will depend on the foods and drinks that you consume. It is easy for individuals to become dependent on caffeine. If you consume a large amount of soda or coffee, your body may soon start to experience withdrawal symptoms when on a water fast. Is a relatively natural way to detoxify your body. As previously stated, the human body depends on water to survive. In that aspect, the consumption of water is natural. What is unnatural about a water fasting is the non-consumption of solid foods. However, when compared to many detoxifying or cleansing drugs currently available for sale, this is considered a very natural approach. Can be dangerous. As with all fasts, there are dangers associated with a water fast. A relatively unknown danger is the consumption of too much water. This leads to water intoxication. Too much water can cause brain damage, as well as death. If you opt for a water fast, drink the recommended amount or talk to your healthcare provider for more information. Readjustment. It may take your body a day to adjust to a water only diet, but it will take your body even longer to readjust to food. If you fast for longer than three days, you will want to start eating slowly. Many professionals recommend first adding other liquids, such as juice or soup, and then solids. Also, since you just spent days detoxifying your body, be careful with the foods you do consume afterwards. There is no better time to make the switch to organic foods than now. As you can see, there a number of advantages and disadvantages to using a water fast to detox or cleanse the body. A safe way to do so is with the advice of a healthcare professional and for a short period of time. Some recommend water fasting for at least five days, while some state that you should never go more than three days. Consulting with a healthcare professional is your best bet, but always listen to your body and any distress signs it may show.
Chapter 5: The Master Cleanse Reviewed Even if you do not consider yourself to be health conscious, you have likely heard of the Master Cleanse. Although the Master Cleanse has always been a popular way to detoxify the body, the award winning singer Beyonce brought it additional attention. Even though many claim the Master Cleanse is successful, it is important to understand the process before you get started. The ingredients needed for the Master Cleanse include cayenne pepper, grade b maple syrup, water, fresh lemons, and senna tea. In terms of instructions, the best thing to do is to purchase a Master Cleanse guidebook. There are different guides and books available for sale. In addition to detailed instructions, you will be provided with other tips and tricks to help you on the cleanse. Although the purchase of the Master Cleanse guide is recommended, a drink will consist of 2 tablespoons of lemon juice from a fresh lemon, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 8 ounces of water. It is important to use genuine grade b maple syrup, not artificial, and a fresh lemon, not the prepackaged lemon juice. Six to ten glasses of this concoction can be taken every day. In addition to the drink mix, which you will have multiple times throughout the day, senna tea is recommended at night. This tea will help to prepare your digestive system for the follow day. Many also do a salt-water flush each morning, also to help the process along. A salt-water flush will contain a small amount of salt, which should be natural sea salt. The Master Cleanse, although classified as a whole body cleansing program, will work wonders for your colon and digestive track. For this reason, you will make multiple trips to the bathroom. You may want to start the cleanse on a weekend, giving you time to adjust before you return to work. Despite the possibility of a variance, many see almost immediate results following the morning’s salt-water flush. As for the length of the Master Cleanse, you will find some variances. Many start out with a 10-day cleanse; however, there are reports of people cleansing for a month or more. If this is your first cleanse, it is important to start out slow and small.
Aim for the 10 days. With that said, some individuals cannot handle 10 days without solid foods. If you experience severe pain and discomfort, stop the cleanse. For many, it takes a couple of tries before they are able to achieve a full 10-day cleanse. Speaking of pain and discomfort, you will likely experience it. Going even two days without the consumption of solid foods will result in moderate to severe hunger pains. These pains may be accompanied by dizziness and nausea. If you are a coffee or soda drinker, you may start to experience caffeine withdrawal. In addition to dizziness and vomiting, you may develop a severe headache. Many also report stomach cramps; however, those who deal with these craps, often report disappearance within a day or two. Following the master cleanse, you may crave solid foods. Before you start eating everything you have craved for the past week, it is important to start out slow. Adding too many solid foods to your diet right away can have serious complications, including stomach pains and vomiting. You should start with all-natural juice, applesauce, and other easy to digest and sallow foods. The Pros The length of the Master Cleanse can vary. Online, you will find that people have done the Master Cleanse for as little as three days, but as many as a month or more. This variance can work to your advantage. It is recommended that you reach the 10-day mark before ending your cleanse. This should give you the best results and enough time for your body to fully expel all unwanted and unneeded toxins. There are Master Cleanse support groups online. The Master Cleanse is a great way to cleanse and detoxify your body, but it will be a struggle. 10 days without solid foods can have a huge impact on your body. Along the way, you will have questions and concerns. When you do, you can turn to the internet. There are many message boards devoted to the Master Cleanse and many act as support groups. The Cons The Master Cleanse costs money to get started. In terms of cleansing and detoxification, many prefer the water fast, as little to no investment is needed. On the
other hand, you will need to pay to try the Master Cleanse. What you pay for is your supplies. These supplies will include genuine grade b maple syrup, fresh lemons, senna tea, cayenne pepper, and natural sea salt. When to compared to the cost of many overthe-counter detox products, such as food pads or pills, you are still saving money. The Master Cleanse has side effects. As previously stated, the Master Cleanse produces effective results, but those results come at a cost. You may experience moderate to severe abdominal pain and cramping, although this should quickly pass. If you smoke cigarettes or drink caffeine, you may start to withdrawal, which can result in nausea, dizziness, and headaches. There are also the trips to the bathrooms. Racing to the bathroom can be embarrassing and uncomfortable, but it does mean that the Master Cleanse is working. It may be difficult for you to stay on track. As previously stated, the Master Cleanse will produce a number of side effects. These side effects are more severe for some. It often depends on your previous lifestyle. If you find it too emotionally or physically difficult to continue the cleanse, stop. You can later try again. In fact, it takes many first-time cleansers one or two attempts before they are finally able to achieve a 10-day cleanse. At the conclusion of your cleanse, you must carefully reintroduce solid foods to your body. Whether you cleanse for 5 days, for 10 days, or more, it is important to slowly return to your normal eating habits. Many find this difficult as most want to cure their carvings by eating. You should start out small with soups and juices and then move on to more solid foods. This gives your body time to readjust. If you do not wait or do not make the transition slowly, you may experience abdominal pains and nausea.
Chapter 6: 5 Reasons to Detox with a Juice Fast If you are looking for similar results, but with a much easier approach than water fasting or Master Cleanse, you should try a juice fast. So, what makes a juice fast a great way to detoxify your body? 1 – Your Options First and foremost, it is important to know that you cannot consume any type of juice. The purpose of a detox is to cleanse your body and expel toxins that have accumulated throughout the years. You cannot successfully do this if you continue to consume juices with unnatural additives. For that reason, only consume organic or allnatural juice. With that said, you still have many options. All-natural juices are sold in many grocery stores. Look for a label that states the product is certified organic. This is proof that you are drinking a 100% all natural juice. For an easier approach, shop at a specialty organic food store, where all food and drinks are natural. 2 – You Can Make Your Own As previously stated, all-natural, organic juice is available for sale in the United States. You can also make your own. All that you need is a collection of fruits and vegetables and a juicer. Although a juicer will cost money, on average between $50 and $200, it will be well worth the investment. During a 5-day body detox, you can easily benefit from your purchase. Plus, it is a home appliance that can be used again or later resold. 3 – Taste Ask anyone who has tried water fasting or the Master Cleanse and one of their number one complaints will be taste. With water fasting, there is no taste. You may find yourself craving some type of flavor. Yes, this craving will likely pass, but it may
seem unbearable. If you enjoy good tasting foods and drinks, a juice fast is a better option for you. In fact, that is another benefit to buying a juicer, as you can experiment with flavors to create your own unique blend of all-natural fruit or vegetable juices. 4 – Nutrients The Master Cleanse involves cayenne pepper and grade B maple syrup. These two items help to give you some nutrients, although small. On the other hand, you will receive no nutrients when on a water fast. That is why extended detoxification is advised against. With juice fasting, you do not have this problem. You will still receive nutrients that the body needs to stay health. For that reason, you will not only feel an improvement at the conclusion of your detox diet, but during it as well. 5 – Weight Loss Unfortunately, many people make the mistake of believing that you cannot lose weight while on a juice diet. This is not true. When on a juice fast, you eliminate solid foods. That allow will reduce your calorie intake and help you shed the pounds. Yes, you may not lose as much weight on a juice fast as you would fasting on water, but you will notice a difference. Even still, a juice fast is recommended for improvement of overall health and wellbeing; it should not be used only as a weight loss plan.
Chapter 7: Factors to Consider Before Detoxifying Your Body If you are the one of the many Americans who has heard that you may be carrying up to 20 pounds of excess waste and toxins due to buildup, you may be ready to take action. Before you start with a cleanse, it is important to determine if you are the right candidate. Factors that can help you determine if you are ready for a body detox or cleanse include: Your health. Are you healthy? Do you suffer from any medical conditions, such as diabetes or a thyroid condition? If so, you should not start a body detox or cleanse without first speaking to your doctor. There are many cleansing programs available, including water fasting, juice fasting, the Master Cleanse, and making the switch to allnatural, organic foods. There should be at least one cleanse that is right for you, but others could lead to serious health problems. In keeping with your health, if you are female, it is important to make sure you are not pregnant. When water fasting, your body will be robbed of needed nutrients. These nutrients are not only important for your body, but they are vital to unborn babies. Women who are pregnant or even breastfeeding should never try a water fast. Juice fasting and the Master Cleanse do provide you with some nutrients, but not enough. Speak to your doctor, but the only safe ways to detoxify your body while pregnant is with exercise and healthy eating. Your daily and weekly schedule. If you opt for the Master Cleanse, you will see that 10-days is the recommended length of detoxification. Throughout those 10-days, you will experience a number of side effects, as well as make multiple trips to the bathroom. Although many are able to continue to work or go about their daily routine on the Master Cleanse, others find it difficult to do so. You may have to slightly modify your schedule or start a detox diet on the weekend. Your weight. If you are overweight, a detox is recommended. As previously stated, our bodies can store up to 20 pounds of toxins and waste. Those who are at normal weight have some buildup, but it is significantly less. If you have tried different
exercise plans, as well as healthy eating and still were met with defeat, it may be time for a cleanse. Although a detox is not recommended simply just for weight loss, the end results can improve your health in the long run. Your ability to stay focused and on task. If you opt for waster fasting, juice fasting, or the Master Cleanse, solid foods will be eliminated from your diet. Whether you cleanse for 3 days or for 13, you will experience severe hunger pains. These pains will be accompanied with discomfort, nausea, vomiting, and headaches. Right away, you may wish to give-up. That is okay, but your ability to stay focused, on task, and avoid solid foods will result in success. If you do not believe you can go without food for 5 to 10 days, examine other options of detoxifying your body. Simple steps such as increasing water consumption, fiber consumption, and exercising can improve your health too. In conclusion, unless you have health complications, no harm can come from at least trying a body detox or cleanse. With that said, always listen to your body. Any pain and discomfort you experience should pass within one to two days. If not, seek medical attention.
Chapter 8: Making the Detoxification Work Detoxification is a process that a lot of people consider their "wonder drug" or wonder diet, for that matter. In any case, it is true that a detoxification diet has many benefits to the whole body and it has been proven over and over again. If you would like to start a detox diet then the first thing you must realize is that the whole diet is a process. Detoxification is certainly not about just digesting one simple miracle pill and expecting the rest to take care of itself. This is certainly not how it will happen, but there are certain other things that one must do in order to help the detoxification process along so that it works smoothly and correctly. If you are new to the detoxification diet, though, and are about to set out on a detox journey in the near future, here are a few ways in which you can keep the detoxification diet working properly for you: #1: Think Positively If drinking naturally pureed vegetable juices that have been combined in a blender and feasting on vegetable soup that is filled with garlic and cayenne pepper is not your cup of tea (no pun intended!), then don't worry. But you must absolutely have a clean mind and sort of determination that will show through it all. For example, many people decide halfway or part-way through the detoxification process that it simply is not for them. On the other hand, it has been shown through many accounts that everyone should take part in a detoxification at least some point in their lives. In addition, following a strict detoxification diet every month will help foreign substances to stay out and good substances to stay in. The first thing you must realize, though, as mentioned above, is that detoxification is a process and thinking positively will get you through it! #2: Sticking to the Diet Even though it may be difficult at first to drink at least one gallon of water per day during the detoxification diet, you must remember that it will help you in the end. Performing a detoxification diet will do no good if you decide to skip out on some of the vital parts of the diet in the first place. For example, water is about the most vital
liquid you could be drinking during this detox period. If you decide to forgo water in place of something else then you run the risk of not obtaining the most results of the detox diet. Sticking with the detox plan and diet regimen is definitely the way to go! #3: Exercise- Physically and Psychologically Even though thinking positively while you stick to the detoxification diet may be needed, it is also necessary to exercise yourself through physical and psychological processes. For example, taking a walk around the block is one way to get your mind off all of the 'normal' foods that you may be missing out on for a day. Physical exercises will help you stay in shape and psychological exercises will help you with determination! These ideas are sure-fire ways to not only prepare yourself for a detoxification diet, but also a great way to learn some self-discipline. There are all sorts of ways to be happy during a detox cleansing, yet these are just a few of the most effective ways!
Chapter 9: What to Do After a Body Detox During water fasting, juice fasting, and the Master Cleanse, you will abstain from eating solid foods. The day your cleanse concludes, you might want to jump right into a bag of chips or just enjoy a fine meal. These are natural feelings, but not steps that you should take. Most water fast for at least 5 days, some fast on juice for 2 weeks, and some do the Master Cleanse for a month. During this time, your body has adjusted to not having solid foods; therefore, you need to reintroduce them to your body. The first day or two after the Master Cleanse, water fasting, or juice fasting, it is advised that you stay away from solid foods. If on the juice fast, your body was provided with some nutrients; therefore, you can work your way up to liquid soups or applesauce. If on the Master Cleanse or a water fast, start with juices first and then start the transition. Although you want the fasting to be over with when the detox is, your body will thank for your making the transition smooth. When on a detox diet, you should lose weight. Your weight loss will depend on the diet you selected, as well as your current weight. The less food and calories you consume and the higher you weigh, the more weight you will lose. Even if weight loss was not your main goal, it will be a result you will treasure and appreciate. For that reason, do not waste it. If you don’t already, start to exercise. Even if it is only a mile walk 3 days a week, you can help to keep your gained weight off. In addition to exercise, you will want to continue eating healthy following a body detox or cleanse. You spent days, if not more, cleansing your body and ridding it of unnatural toxins. So, why just put more in? Now is the perfect time to switch to allnatural, organic foods. If you do not want to make the full-time switch to organic, look for foods that are low in sugar, calories, and fats. At the conclusion of a detox diet, do not return to your normal ways. This is important if you drink large amounts of alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or drink a lot of caffeine. These items are not good for your body. That is why they should be eliminated permanently from your diet. The good news is that following a 10-day or more cleanse, you may no longer feel the need to have a cigarette, your nightly glass of wine, or your daily soda.
It is also important to increase your fiber and drink water. As previously stated, your body just spent days eliminating toxin buildup. Even if you eat healthy, toxins will find a way into your body. A cleanse helped you get a jump on this cleaning, but water and fiber can continue the process on a daily basis. They will make it easier for your body to stay flushed out and clean. Most important, reintroduce solid foods back into your diet at a slow and steady pace. Once this has been accomplished, keep an eye on the foods and drinks you consume. The more healthier they are, the less buildup of toxins you should experience.
