CHILDCARE CENTRE Santa Cruz - Bolivia Bachelor‘s thesis Study 2019
As part of my bachelor‘s thesis, I used the idea and realisation competition of Techo Bolivia and Archsharing to apply the skills I learned during my studies. My main focus of the design is on dealing with social, economic and construction challenges when building a childcare centre in South America, as well as using local materials in a time-saving and technology-minimised construction methods. Oriented towards the courtyard house building type, a centre is created underneath the roofing. Both spatially and functionally, this area represents the heart of the facility.

EXISTING ROOFING
Dealing with the existing Formerly, the old school building of the village was located on the site. The status analysis revealed that only the wide span roofing of the old sports field, including its metal structure, should be retained, as it provides a functioning shelter. (right in red)
NEW BUILDING
Two existing buildings on the site will be removed. The preservation of these structures is insignificant from a constructional, cultural and design point of view and not profitable from an economic point of view.
Bamboo roof construction
Also, in the context of using the building as a day care centre, removing the old and defective and adding the new is considered an appropriate step.
SPATICAL DESIGN
Bamboo is used to divide the area underneath the roof, creating spaces that are clearly delineated yet transparent and flexible.

RESIDENTIAL PROJECT get ting old together Revitalisation Study 2021
The housing projec t in Bad Radkersburg, in the south-eastern tip of St yria, is a positive example of communal living in old age and the conversion and revitalisation of existing buildings. Four barrier free flats are planned into the existing struc ture, in which the residents can live independently and without restric tions. Many communal areas ensure a varied ever yday life and a pleasant living together.

Quiet courtyard As the main element of the design, the new wooden structure, which will be placed on the courtyard inside, connects all three buildings. A protected walking zone and a more private courtyard situation are created, also providing sufficient outdoor spaces. After securing the walls, painting the stones in a light grey provides a holistic and fresh appearance. Inset wooden boxes and interior insulation as well as new windows enable thermal insulation.

ROOT TO GRAPE Winer y Design + Construc tive planning Study 2020 The task of this design was to plan a winer y near the town of Slavonice in the Czech Republic at the foothills of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. On the site and in the nearby surroundings are old agricultural buildings and storage facilities, most of which are no longer in use today. The main focus of this work is the planning of the architec ture, whilst taking into account the work processes that are impor tant for the produc tion of wine. In collaboration with M. Url

Concept idea The design is based on the three basic components of a vine: the root, the trunk and the grapes. Two above ground structures and a connecting wing below ground allow optimal processes due to two opposing streams of movement within the winery.

Dealing with the existing The outer walls of the existing building are retained and integrated into the new design. The existing building is complemented by wooden structures, whose special construction allows them to appear to float above the existing building. A façade shell of larch slats emphasises the lightness in contrast to the massive foundation of the existing building. The two structures rise out of the landscape in a diagonal counterplay.

The projec t star ted in the summer semester of 2021 as a semester projec t called Zeitgeistzentrum, in which a combination of cultural and leisure facilities forms the new centre of the village. Through careful inter ventions on the centrally located site with connec ting and visual axes to already existing struc tures, a new area is created that is architec turally oriented to the building t ypology of the surroundings.

In the course of the first planning rounds, the requirements were checked and the concept was adapted to the needs. Eleven residential units of 50-75 m2 with gardens or loggias. In addition, a large office unit of approx. 200 m2 is being planned in house 2 and house 3. As an important building block of the village centre ensemble, rooms for the community are considered in house 1, which are oriented towards the new square.

CAMPUS 2050 St. Paul in the Lavant Valley Urban development + open space planning Study 2021
The task of this urban/spatial planning study was to develop a mixed-use concept for the new Science Campus in St. Paul. Due to the new line of the Koralm railway and the construction of an associated railway station not far from St. Paul, a strong increase in the flow of people and jobs as well as the need for housing is to be expected in this area. The design responds to this future development in terms of the growth of the region and adapts this to the natural conditions of the area such as flood and nature protection.
