I have spend recent years living in Rotterdam and attaining a master’s degree at Delft University of Technology. It has been a very fruitful time for me in terms of discovering and developing personal interests and principal guidlines for developing design concepts. The methodological approach of my graduation studio, Complex Projects, required working on different scales, promoted independent thinking and reflecting on broader cultural, social, political and economic context. I have been particularly interested in emerging collective spaces and socio – political conditions that influence them. My studies enabled me to apply heuristic research methods and broaden knowledge within my field of interest, which I would love to carry on in my professional practises.

EXODUS HOME halfway house for ex-convicts Garfield Park, Chicago, IL YEAR_2016 INSTITUTION_TU Delft, Complex Projects PROJECT TYPE_Architectural design, research, residential, public
7
The graduation project was commenced by carrying a broad analysis, trying to investigate social and political circumstances, urban conditions and the faults of American incarceration system that have influenced the emerging problems of Garfield Park community in Chicago, USA, such as unemployment, segregation, high incarceration rates and dilapidated built environment. The choice of an object to be designed - a halfway house - drew my attention to the problems and needs of ex - convicts as well as characteristics and design specifics of defensible space. The issue of recidivism is complex and depends on many aspects, for instance inappropriate accommodation, insufficient finances and skills to find a job, criminal record and stigma, no support from family and friends, low self - esteem. All of them were considered during the design process and appropriate solutions were found in order to provide ex - prisoners with a wide range of opportunities to start a new decent life in Garfield Park neighborhood.

9 STRATEGY FOR MASTERPLAN | SITE PLAN DIAGRAM
Besides the social and economical domains, the characteristics of the Garfield Park area were investigated on urban level, using the method, introduced by Ungers. He suggested to see the city as an assembly of numerous urban layers. His method includes identifying characteristic places in the city (areas of recreation, culture, residence etc.), developing and improving the specific features such “complementary places possess. The points in the city, where multiple layers overlap, offer a variety of activities but at the same time this creates contradictions, which emerge between the layers. Having discovered, that new educational and community program could provide better opportunities for communities to fight recidivism and improve lives, intervention nodes were established in order to fight spatial segregation.

RESIDENTIAL CLUSTER
The design approach followed the research methods. Accordingly, starting with an urban scale, a site plan was developed within a larger framework of a master plan. The main aims of a site plan involved extending a green boulevard through a block, connecting it to a Garfield park, opening up a back yard to public, designing a halfway house as an assembly of residential buildings with common facilities in between. All elements of design play a significant role in rehabilitation process of the residents.

The philosophy behind the architectural proposal is to introduce more a house than an institution. That is why the design relates to an archetype of a house with an elements of vernacular architecture, such as a common porch.

General layout of each residential cluster is inspired by the typical Korean Hanok house. What is appealing about the arrangement of spaces is a central courtyard, which works as a catalyst for community activity, from where all surrounding functions can be accessed. The first level of each cluster is transparent and accessible to the neighbors. The intention is to show the society the normality of halfway house inhabitants and their transformation from consumers to producers. However, the second, residential level, is more closed and distanced in order to provide privacy and sense of safety to those, who are vulnerable and sensitive to overcrowding. The porches serve as the connectors between the two levels.

The project is located in Kadıköy district, on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey. The complex that is being designed is meant to be a connector to the nothern part of the neighborhood, a continuation of a sequence of green spaces and a counterweight to educational and cultural institutions, clustered in the southern part of the area as well as European part of Istanbul. The project is aimed to become a symbol of a rich cultural heritage of Kadıköy and a focal point for the mahalle.

CENTER OF MODERN ART in Upes street Vilnius, Lithuania YEAR_2011 INSTITUTION_Vilnius Gediminas Technical University PROJECT TYPE_Architectural design, public
27
The purpose of the project is to design a modern art center in Vilnius, in the newly formed city center - adjoining the right coast of Neris river and Upes street. The building has been designed taking into consideration the assessment of the urban situation and environmental factors as well as the other factors that predetermine the spatial and functional solutions. Modern art center has been designed on the site in the upper terrace in order to preserve the recreational area in the lower part, its connection with the cherry blossom garden and to place an entrance area of the building away from the busy Upes street. Volumetric expression has been dictated by the visual connection between downtown and Seskines esker slopes. The main volume of the art center corresponds to this direction but at the same time respects the view.

SYNERGETIC SOUND YEAR_2014 INSTITUTION_TU Delft, Hyperbody PROJECT TYPE_interactive installation, inter-performing environments COLLABORATION: Mike Kornecki, Perry Low, Milou van Min, Dichao Wang
35
Sound and music has long been used as a medium by almost every culture as a means of social interaction and bonding. Building on this habit, this installation uses sound that is actuated by movement creating different audio outputs as a result. This in turn influences how the user’s subsequent movement depending on how satisfied he/she is with the resultant sound. Multiple users creates richer compositions as more controls and sounds are added into the environment. As users coordinate their movements through trial and error, different compositions of sounds can result in unique musical outcomes. In this way, the human body becomes the instrument of interactivity and the influence of Synergetic Sound.
ACADEMIC
36
During the concept stages of the project, it was decided that a series of musical tones would best serve the experiment due to the ease at which different tones could be combined into chords and therefore compositions. Visitors would then easily be able to change controls through body movement, resulting in an ever changing composition.
COLL ABORATIVE
37
While multiple users could technically change their corresponding number of components to affect the composition, it is the activation of additional controls that will truly improve the overall audio result. These higher level controls can only be active when the 2 or more users come into close proximity to each other in order to achieve a desired result.

Audio input is in many ways just as if not more important than ocular input. Sound gives us a 3-dimensional sense of space that is in many ways more ‘real’ due to its inherent role in giving us a sense of balance and by extension the ability to move through space. The size of a given space can also be determined through the use of an echo, giving inhabitants a good sense of the volume of the space. With digital simulation taking center stage as an essential means of conveying a proposal and with the advent of computer assisted virtual environments (CAVE), audio simulations are poised to take a critical part of making a virtual space more believable. The aim of the project was a reconstruction of the summerhouse from the beginning on 20th century for Mr Hafner and his 3 young daughters. The house is located on the waterfront in Rowayton, CT. The idea was to design a bright, contemporary yet elegant interior, preserving the structure of the old house.
