Created by the Taiwan designer duo Chay and Rika in 2010, JumpFromPaper® is now a hit in over 25 countries worldwide. Colorful, quirky and always with a sense of humor, JumpFromPaper shares a passion for laughs, and encourages people to let their imaginations go wild. Why take everything so serious?

Forming in 2010, what was the initial concept behind JumpFromPaper? "Why take everything so serious?" "Do we really need to follow all those rules?" When it comes to creating something new, we think we are all a bit rebellious. We want to add more of the unexpectedness that we find in comics and cartoons, bringing it into the real world. We perceive everything through 2D perspectives, drawing everything in life: people, clothes, outfits, bags, stories. One day an idea just popped up, "Why not turn these graphic works into the real thing?", following which JumpFromPaper popped to life.
Your designs are playful and childlike, a little reminiscent of paper doll dress up clothes. Was this a source of inspiration for you? What else inspires you? Not really. (although we would very much enjoy playing paper dolls!) Our collections are inspired by time misspent on cartoons and comics! We are also addicted to anything quirky. Our team are heavy internet users, and we all love collecting. We've always collected funny and weird stuff—pictures and quotes—and we've now got a huge wall in our office for all these. For us, everything with a sense of humor is a source of inspiration.
