Volunteer To Start Something Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do. Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat a pizza with extra anchovies. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are you’ll enjoy them even more with your Little—and you’ll be making a life-changing impact.
Think you want to be a Big Brother? Think you want to be a Big Sister? Think you want to be a Big Couple? Volunteering just a few hours a month with a child can start something amazing. So why not apply to be a Big today. There are kids out there ready to get started. Are you? Call (907) 586-3350 or visit our website www.bbbsak.org to get signed up today!

SIMPLE I received some hand grip equipment from IronMind, one of my favorite retailers of strength paraphernalia. On the bottom of the invoice was this advice, “Train safely, wisely, and consistently for best results.” That pretty well sums up what you need to keep in mind, regardless of what type of training program you are putting together.
Safely: Nothing is more counterproductive to your progress than hurting yourself. It’s the opposite of improving. Wisely: Regardless of what your sport or favorite exercise, don’t grossly emphasize strength, endurance, or flexibility and neglect the others. Consistently: Moderate, or even light, exercise done regularly is far more productive than hit or miss training.
