Trans-seasonal Trends 2016 Well-dressed means being dressed for the weather. When the transition periods between summer and winter start to get longer and longer, as is the case now, you often need to hedge your bets. This demands a lot of your outerwear, which has to be lightweight and cool, but also warm on cold days. Current transseasonal fashion favours the lightweight down jacket in various permutations. In Junge’s 2016 collection, the lightweight down jacket has a distinguished role in promoting exciting textiles and lovely new colours.
New features include a deep “two-tone” colour in an elegant mix of black and blue, which gives a nice visual effect and an exclusive look. Beautiful multicoloured floral patterns bring a touch of levity to the darker months. The season’s colours are underpinned by feminine, tailored cuts, quilting and details that combine to breathe new life into a wardrobe. We predict that the lightweight down jacket will be this year’s must-have. It is guaranteed to make you feel fashionable and comfortable in any situation and has become a clear favourite for many, loved all year round.

Junge since 1946 Over the last 70 years, Junge has made its mark on Danish textile design, producing factory-tailored coats now renowned for their compelling, stylish fit. It is in this inheritance that the company is anchored. The first Junge models, which came into the world in 1946, were uniforms. The post-war period’s strict import ban called for creativity and a head for business, which the then 26-year-old shop assistant and trained businessman Bent Junge had in spades.
He opened a well-run factory to produce the uniforms in Østergade in Aarhus. And when the uniforms became two-piece suits in the 1950s – the well-dressed woman’s preferred garment à la Jackie Kennedy (jacket and dress or skirt set) – the brand moved production to a five-storey property in Mejlgade in Aarhus. Sewing uniforms and two-piece suits requires master tailoring and proud craftsmanship traditions. It takes time and requires precision. Factory-tailored coats were a natural next step for Junge and cemented Junge’s role in the industry in the coming decades. Iconic coats sustained by Danish design and Danish quality.

Bent Junge was one of the industry’s pioneers and travelled to China as early as in 1967 to pave the way for outsourcing and good partnerships that still exist today. The ladies’ coat was joined by a car coat in the 1980s, the first piece of outerwear designed for the modern, busy woman. Times and trends changed, and the company passed to Bent’s son Christian Junge. A cornucopia of outerwear for contemporary, quality-conscious women was developed based on the original ladies’ coat and car coat. In 2016, the Scandinavian weather is characterised by long transition periods between winter and summer. It is from this that Junge’s trendy trans-seasonal coat arose (see page 3 in the catalogue).
