GREEN SPACE

ERINA BAY CURRENT LANDSCAPE CONDITION Topography map shows that Erina is surrounded by two mountain - Rumbalara Reserve and Kincumba Mountain Reserve in the north and south, with Highest altitude about 180metres. Due to the terrain condition, there are several small canals where storm water flow into the Erina creek and Brisbane water. Green space map shows that This area has a relatively high rate of

FLOODING API

green space which include large percentage of nature reserve and public recreation. Most of the soil type is yellow podzolic soils which is less fertile, and it mainly consist of granite and metasediments. The middle flooding map shows changes in water level in the region in the coming five and ten decades. It includes a number of catchment and hydroline.River crossings are the most likely to cause floods, and the deep blue area shows a 100-year water level, which is greatly affected near the commercial center.

ERINA BAY URBAN DEVELOPMENT

LAND USE

Next, let us turn to site analysis of land use. There are two main commercial hubs. One is in central Gosford which is commercial core with some mixuse business zone, and the other one is the erina fair which is the biggest shopping centre in central coast. Erina has significant proportion of general residential and low density residential. Most houses are private properties. For road network, central coast highway is a major road corridor linking central Gosford and erina precinct. General industrial area is located near to erina fair. In conclusion, some opportunities can be explored to make erina bay more attractive for pedestrians, improve linkages to residential areas, and make the local centre more cohesive. We can see high environmental value in erina as well. According to the urban planning outline document, there will be two regional centers in the future, forming the axis of development of the East and West cities. A49 highway is a important belt to link the gosford centre and erina fair. At present, the residents of the region are heavily dependent on private cars, with a population of less than 5,000, and 43% of the population is elderly. The largest service industry is healt care.

ERINA BAY WEATHER CONDITION I using rhino and grasshooper to visualize weather condition in gosford by importing EPW data file in

TEMPERATURE

Ladybug. The data shows that the highest temperature in the region is 38 degrees Celsius. The annual average temperature is kept at a dozen degrees. The climate is warm and humid. The southeast wind is prevailing. The maximum wind speed is 7 meters per second. The relative humidity of the air is 60-80%. It is relatively humid and the area is perennial subject to solar radiation from the north. Based on climate analysis, we can understand that we can use climate data for data visualization.

ERINA BAY KEY ISSUE - FRAGMENTATION The biggest problem in our site is the fragmentationof

PUBLIC TRANSPORT & INFRASTRUCTURE

urban functional space. Many green spaces, road systems, and urban infrastructure are located in different regions, and there is a lack of connection between them. The occupants are also fragmented by space, which is not only that high in proportion the elder people’s problems have an impact and it can lead to inefficient flood protection measurement.

ERINA BAY PROPOSED TECHNOLOGY 1 ---DATASCAPE Datascape is designed to visualize hidden data information to address air quality issues. Its focus is on urban ecology. It is recommended to develop an

Sensing System

adaptive management strategy to explain air quality issues in an urban area. It includes five major parts: a sensing system, data platform, communication platform, visualization

Data Platform

schema, and infrastructural implementation. The sensor network collects environmental data from air sensors that record contamination concentrations (PM2.5, PM10, DPM, and ozone) in real time. The visualization of the data makes it easy to compare

Communication Platform

different dimensions and better understand the fluctuating air quality. I propose to integrate sensing technology and optical response systems into existing erina bay public infrastructure to reflect current air quality levels.

Visualization Schema

Our group study area has the highest median age compared to others area according to the population census. So, the landscape method about the living environment of the elderly is worth thinking about. What I have learned form this case study is that we

Infrastructure

could use datascape technologies to sense Erina bay environment and to create virtual landscapes. For example, Sensing system can monitor air quality and weather in real- time, which can help elderly residents’ timely response to micro-weather changes. The lighting responsive system can indicate whether or not the current route is a healthy route, or, a harmful one.

SMART HIGHWAY are interactive and sustainable roads for urban resilience. This type of road will allow modern sensor technology to be integrated into current traffic roads, such as solar panel power

generation, integration with autonomous vehicles and sensors, and real-time weather monitoring systems. Intelligent highways have the opportunity to transform from serving a single purpose to the core of the city's operations, improving urban services through power generation, security function implementation and

5

collection of key data points in different cities. The other main issue is car-dependency. More than 85% residents drive car to get to work because of Underdeveloped public transport system. The central coast highway is a major road corridor linking central Gosford and Erina precinct. Those two areas are two

6

main commercial hubs in central coast. Thus, there are big potential to improve the road performance. The Induction Priority Lane and Dynamic Lines are perhaps the most futuristic visions of the network. Given the trending and necessity of transitioning to electric cars, the Induction Priority Lane supports

7

electric car owners while providing a sustainable source of energy to the car in transit. Glow in dark road not only can Guarantee night driving safety, but also has the value of Environmental protection and energy conservation. These technologies can help to create a sustainable coastal precinct.

Drawing on the above two landscape technologies,

DATA PLATFORM

Sensors can monitor real-time weather changes and feed back to mobile apps. Sensors can record pedestrians. The route helps pedestrians to be healthy and equipped with interactive LED lights to make the urban space more vibrant. In addition, digital road lights can visualize the above data, including road guidance, signs, traffic congestion, at the bottom of

ERINA BAY FITNESS POWERED LIGHTING When the urban population reaches a certain number, the outdoor fitness power generation streetlights will become a new way of life. When people are waiting for the car or the light rail, they can use the debris time for physical exercise. They can also be used in urban parks and commercial centers.
