For the Junior Style Talents American Edition, we have collaborated with fashion and advertising photographer Olesja Mueller who is also now part of the Junior Style Talents team and is overseeing the creative direction, as well as being the lead photographer for the magazine. In each issue we will be sharing not only talented models but children and teens who are also talented in sport, the arts – music, acting, dance, design – or who are creative. "First responders, sacrificing when no-one else will. Fun fact: Mackenzie is the eldest of three sisters Talent: Model Thirteen-year-old Mackenzie Reece Rogers is a member of her school's chorus club and loves performing at singing events at school functions and community events. Mackenzie would love to study fashion design or photography. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and going on beach trips where she loves looking for seashells and shark teeth, and, like any other teenage girl, she loves talking on the phone with her friends. Mackenzie adores modelling and taking part in pageants. Why do you attend pageants? Mackenzie loves pageantry because of all of the great people that she meets and the friends that she makes. Mackenzie is the former 2021 USA Elite Miss National Queen. During her reign as queen, she developed a sisterhood that was like no other and she got to make a difference in the lives of others by learning to be a giver and experience the joy that comes from working for charitable causes. Pageantry is where Mackenzie’s love for service work began. Pageantry develops young girls’ selfconfidence and teaches them to always set goals for themselves and to never stop growing as a person. Her service work/hobbies consist of collecting items for the local nursing homes as well as families that have been hit by devastations and collecting food for food drives. She also collects plastic bottle caps for an organisation that melts them down to make “Buddy Benches” for playgrounds. These benches are designated as a safe place for troubled children to go to signal that they need help or someone to talk to. She also raises money for the St Jude organisation.

Recently, we had the opportunity to interview the incredible model, actress and philanthropist Mychal-Bella. Mychal-Bella was featured in The Underground Railroad TV series and more recently nominated in the Emmy’s for her role as Fanny Briggs. We talk about everything from Longboarding to her billboard in Times Square. Keep reading to find out more! Mychal-Bella, we know you are an actress, model and philanthropist, but for the readers please could you tell us a bit more about what you do? Something that I do that most people don't know about me is that I have been reading since I was three and love books. I love to play sports and enjoy longboarding, soccer, swimming, basketball and bodysurfing, and I’m pretty good at them too! You have achieved a lot at such a young age. Most recently you were nominated for an Emmy for your role as Fanny Briggs. How did you feel when you were nominated and what was the after party like? When I found out we were nominated, I was shocked, excited, and honoured! Even though I always dreamt about having a role in an Emmy-nominated show, I never thought that it would come true at such an early age, and definitely not seven nominations! The whole cast and crew celebrated and the pre-party was a blast! I got to meet a lot of new people who supported our project and even saw a couple of cast mates, which was great. The whole thing was quite surreal! What was your first acting role and when did you decide that acting was your passion? I am pretty sure that my first acting role ever was Togetherness on HBO. I was about five years old when I booked that job and we had just moved to LA! Acting is a gift I believe I was given and I think I have always known that I wanted to be an actress and by gaining the roles as a young child, I think it has pushed me to love the craft more. What was it like working with the one and only Tyler Perry on Have and Have Nots? Tyler Perry was so cool and fun to work with. On set we got things done pretty quickly because everyone knew their role, and the food was great... soul food. I will always remember Tyler Perry because he gave me my first big speaking role on a prime-time TV series. Moving onto modelling, when did you decide you wanted to become a model and why? I started modelling when I was two years old. So, approximately for nine years. That's a long time for a mere preteen! I guess you can say I started my career young. Just like acting, I fell in love with modelling and the rest is HERstory! What was your first major modelling shoot? My first major shoot was for H&M. I remember my mom being so happy about the booking because we shopped there frequently. I worked on the campaign shortly after we moved to California. I had a big lifesize poster and the same poster was on every storefront. You recently shot a campaign for Gap and feature on a huge billboard in Times Square. What was your reaction when you first saw yourself on one of the huge billboards? I was speechless when I saw that I was on a HUGE billboard in Times Square but not just one, ...it was two and so good! Seeing my supporters, family and friends going to see it made it even more memorable. Definitely one for the diary. We have noticed that you are involved in a number of different philanthropy projects. Could you tell us a bit more? Yes, philanthropy is dear to my heart. My humanitarian journey started with my very first modelling gig where I modelled for an international children's brand that advocates for educational literacy. From this, I began to donate my gently used toys to charities and that was the beginning of my philanthropy journey! My mom wanted me to embrace every opportunity. To be a thoughtful, considerate and compassionate person. It is important to me to use my voice and position to help others. Mom has always wanted my career to be built on substance and quality, not quantity. Making a difference and impacting lives is what we all should all aspire to do when possible. To see the smiles and hope on the faces of others is rewarding for all.

Where do you see yourself in ten years? In ten years, I’ll never know what exactly will happen but I do know what I want. I want to be invited to the Met Gala. I’ve always wanted to know what happened behind those doors, so hopefully, I’ll be able to witness that for myself. Acting-wise, I want to be the showrunner in a Marvel movie - a superhero, inspiring other young girls to go for their dreams! I also want to direct/produce it as well. Who is your biggest inspiration and why? My biggest inspiration would probably be my mom. She’s helped me through so much and has been here through thick and thin. She is my hero. What are three top tips you'd give to aspiring actresses and models? The top three tips that I would give to any aspiring actor or model is to stay true to yourself, be confident and to never lose hope.

What do you like about modelling? There is a lot I enjoy, especially with different types of modelling. Commended by her teachers for her leadership abilities, she is a leader in the classroom and on the sports field, where she plays field hockey and is captain of the team.
