I am looking to buy a bike – a hybrid or mountain? Hi, I am looking to buy a bike, but stuck in two minds what type to go for. I live in Belfast and want to cycle along tow paths and probably footpaths (cycle lanes) and would like to go of road. I want to cycle reasonable distances. Not to sure if i could do this on a mountain bike or would it be a lot of effort. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Think a hybrid will be best then, done a few hours their on a mountain bike and think i would like something a little quicker. Thanks for the advice.
AnswerBot answers: On paved surfaces, a mountain bike will take more effort due to the knobby tires that hold less air pressure than a hybrid or road bike tire. Also because suspension parts #1) weigh the bike down & #2) soak up energy from the rider. The best type of bike for traveling on paved surfaces would have 700C road tires & no

suspension parts.
