AnswerBot answers: Honestly, I would stray from cheap bikes. I don’t have much money right, but I saved up and bought a decent one. On my road bike, I got a loan for it. I know that sounds trite, but I built up my credit in doing so. The reason I say you should stay away from cheap bikes is that they will break on you if you are going to ride on a regular basis. They aren’t built with good components and will break rather quickly. Then you will have to replace the parts, and that will cancel any savings you got by buying a less expensive bike. The trick to getting a decent bike is to find the last year’s models. I think you can buy through Jamis and get bikes back to a two year models back sometimes. These are still new bikes, but they were just ones that didn’t sell during their year model run. I did this with my road bike and

paid 850 instead of 1500. Take the time and look for a good deal on a good bike and you won’t go wrong (and you won’t be kicking yourself for buying a bike that breaks on you). Happy cycling
