DAILY RECAPS – SEPTEMBER 28 EEUU 3-0 CANADA (25-23, 25-20, 25-14). The United States won the gold medal and the ticket to the FIVB Grand Champions Cup after beating Canada in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-14). Matthew Anderson scored 17 points for USA, while William Priddy and Maxwell Holt finished with 11 apiece. On the Canadian side Dallas Soonias recorded 9 and John Gordon Perrin finished with 7. Anderson also had a good serving performance with 3 aces for the Americans and also in blocks with 10 against 6 by Canada whose captain, Fred Winters played only in the first two sets and left the match injuried. The Norceca Men’s Continental Finals at the Langley Events Centre had a full crowd of 5,000 people. This was the best attendance for a Volleyball competition at this Facility that hosted its second international tournament.

EEUU 3-0 CANADA (25-23, 25-20, 25-14). Estados Unidos ganó la medalla de oro y el derecho a participar en la Gran Copa de Campeones de la FIVB tras derrotar a Canadá en sets seguidos (25-23, 25-20, 25-14). Matthey Anderson anotó 17 puntos para Estados Unidos, mientras que William Priddy y Maxwell Holt terminaron con 11 cada uno. Por el bando canadiense, Dallas Soonias anotó 9 unidades y John Gordon Perrin concluyó con 7. Anderson tuvo también un buen trabajo en cuanto a los saques con un total de 10 a favor de Estados Unidos, contra 6 de Canada, cuyo capitán Fred Winters jugó sólo en los primeros dos sets y tuvo que dejar el encuentro por lesión. La Final del Campeonato Norceca Varonil tuvo una asistencia de 5,000 personas, la cual fue la mejor para un evento de voleibol en esta instalación que albergó su segunda competencia internacional en este deporte.

MEXICO 3-0 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (25-23, 25-22, 2624)

Cuba won the Bronze Medal at the Norceca Men’s Contiental Championship in a five setter win against Puerto Rico (27-29, 25-27, 25-20, 27-25, 15-12). Ezequiel Cruz was the top scorer with 23 points for Puerto Rico, that had a 2-0 lead and also had a very solid production with Mannix Roman (17 points), Juan Vazquez (12) and captain Enrique Escalante (12).

Mexico finished in fifth place of the Norceca Men’s Continental Championship after a 3-0 win against Dominican Republic (25-23, 25-22, 2624). Daniel Vargas was the top scorer for Mexico with 14 ppints while Edgar Herrera closed with 11. For Dominican Republic, Elvis Contreras closed with 10 points. Both teams surrendered 21 points by unforced errors, but Mexico topped in kill blocks with 12 against only five by the Dominican squad.

However, Cuba distributed its attack and blocking game to come from behind in the third set. Rolando Cepeda topped 18 points, while David Fiel closed with 16. Abrahan Alfonso Gavilan scored 13, Yordan Bisset 12 and Jorber Quintana 10.

CUBA 3-2 PUERTO RICO (2729, 25-27, 25-20, 27-25, 1512) Cuba ganó la medalla de bronce tras imponerse en cinco sets a Puerto Rico por parciales de 27-29, 25-27, 25-20, 27-25, 15-12. Ezequiel Cruz fue el mejor anotador del encuentro al conseguir un total de 23 puntos para Puerto Rico que llegó a colocarse al frente en los dos primeros sets, e inclusive tuvo también un ataque efectivo con Mannix Roman (17 puntos), Juan Vazquez (12) y el capitán Enrique Escalante (12). Cuba distribuyó más su ataque y sobretodo su bloqueo para venir de atrás en el tercer set. Rolando Cepeda cerró con 18 puntos para ser el mejor anotador de Cuba, mientras que David Fiel finalizó con 16. Con 13 cerró Abrahan Alfonso Gavilán, mientras que Jordan Bisset anotó 12 y Jorber Quintana 10.

MEXICO 3-0 DOMINICANA (25-23, 25-22, 26-24) México finalizó en la quinta posición, luego de derrotar a República Dominicana en tres sets por 25-23, 2522 y 26-24. Daniel Vargas finalizó como mejor anotador por México con 14 puntos y Edgar Herrera con 11. Por Dominicana, Elvis Contreras cerró con 10 unidades. Ambos equipos cerraron con 21 puntos en errores no forzados y con un saque parejo, aunque México finalizó con 12 puntos convertidos por bloqueo, contra cinco de Dominicana.
