Definidas las finalistas del voleibol femenil en los XXII JCC CORDOBA, Mexico, Noviembre 19, 2014 -‐ República Dominicana y Puerto Rico jugarán este jueves la final del voleibol femenino dentro de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe en la Arena Córdoba. El cuadro Dominicano venció a México en sets seguidos (25-‐11, 25-‐23, 27-‐25). Bethania de la Cruz hizo 14 puntos por Dominicana, Prisilla Rivera 13 y Annerys Vargas 12. Seomara Sainz fue la mejor anotadora por México con 13 puntos. El partido tuvo un segundo y tercer sets muy peleados. México concedio 24 puntos por error y Dominicana 15. El saque fue muy parejo con cinco unidades concretadas por bando, mientras que el bloqueo fue ligeramente mejor para las caribeñas, que cerraron con ventaja de 10-‐8. Las anfitrionas arrancaron el tercero con una ligera ventaja de 6-‐3, pero las dominicanas ajustaron su bloqueo. Sin embargo, las mexicanas pudieron empatar 25-‐25.

Puerto Rico 3-‐2 Cuba Puerto Rico se convirtió en el primer finalista del certamen femenino de voleibol en los XXII Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe. Puerto Rico venció a Cuba en 5 sets, por parciales de 25-‐23, 25-‐21, 14-‐25, 22-‐ 25 y 15-‐13. Melissa Vargas de Cuba, fue la mejor anotadora con 31 puntos, la marca más alta hasta el momento en el torneo. Regla Gracia, Alena Rojas y Daymara Lescay sumaron 13 cada una, mientras que Caridad Matienzo anotó 10 para Cuba. Saraí Alvarez anotó 28 y Aurea Cruz hizo 18 para Puerto Rico. Cuba vino de atrás en el tercer y cuarto sets, tras una desventaja provisional de 0-‐2, pero en el quinto, Puerto Rico abrió con una mayor concentración e inclusive obtuvieron una ventaja de 5 puntos. Cuba dominó 19-‐7 en el bloqueo y 6-‐4 en saques, pero concedió 30 puntos por error, Puerto Rico obsequió 26.

Colombia 3-‐0 Trinidad and Tobago Colombia venció a Trinidad y Tobago en el segundo encuentro de la ronda de calificación por los lugares 5 al 8 dentro del certamen de voleibol en los XXII Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe. El marcador fue 3-‐0 (25-‐15, 25-‐20, 25-‐15) a favor del cuadro sudamericano cuya mejor anotadora fue Amanda Coneo, con 11 puntos. Kelly Anne Billingy registró 10 puntos para Trinidad y Tobago, que concedieron 38 unidades por error. Colombia sólo concedió 14 y dominó en el saque 5-‐1. En el bloqueo el balance fue cerrado de 6-‐5 favor de Colombia.

Venezuela 3-‐1 Costa Rica Venezuela derrotó a Costa Rica 3-‐1 (25-‐19, 25-‐22, 22-‐25, 25-‐19) en la clasificación por los lugares 5 a 8 en los XXII Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe. Verania y Ángela Willis lideraron a Costa Rica con un total de 18 puntos, por parte de Venezuela, la mejor anotadora fue Roslandy Acosta con 21 puntos, mientras que María José Pérez anotó 13. La capitana Desiree Glod y la bloqueadora Yesica Paz, anotaron 11 puntos cada una. El saque venezolano impuso condiciones en los primeros dos sets. Sin embargo, Costa Rica se repuso en el tercero y terminó con una ventaja final de 5-‐4, al igual que de 8-‐4 en cuanto a bloqueos efectivos.

Women’s Tournament finalists are ready to play for Central American and Caribbean Gold CORDOBA, Mexico, November 19, 2014 -‐ Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico will play for the gold medal on Thursday at the Central American and Caribbean Games’ Volleyball Tournament at the Cordoba Arena. Dominican Republic outclassed Mexico in straight sets (25-‐11, 25-‐23, 27-‐25). Bethania de la Cruz scored 14 points for Dominican Republic while Prisilla Rivera tallied 13 and Annerys Vargas 12. Seomara Sainz was the best scorer for Mexico with 13 points. Second and third sets were very tight. México surrendered 24 points and Dominican Republic 15. Both teams were tied in services with five aces on both sides while the Caribbean team was a little bit above in the blocking game with a 10-‐8 difference. The host team opened the third with a light advantage of 6-‐3 but Dominicans adjusted their blocking game and Mexico could tie 25-‐25.

Puerto Rico 3-‐2 Cuba Puerto Rico became the first finalist of Women’s Volleyball contest at XXII Central American and Caribbean Games. Puerto Rico defeated Cuba in 5 sets, by scores of 25-‐23, 25-‐21, 14-‐25, 22-‐25, 15-‐13. Melissa Vargas of Cuba, was the top scorer with 31 points, the highest at the tournament. Regla Gracia, Alena Rojas and Daymara Lescay tallied 13 apiece, and Caridad Matienzo scored 10 for Cuba. Sarai Alvarez scored 28 and Aurea Cruz scored 18 for Puerto Rico. Cuba came from behind in the third and fourth sets, after a temporary 0-‐2 deficit, but in the fifth Puerto Rico opened more concentrated and even had a 5 points advantage. Cuba dominated 19-‐7 in blocking and 6-‐4 in services, but surrendered 30 points by error, Puerto Rico gave 26.

Colombia 3-‐0 Trinidad y Tobago Colombia defeated Trinidad and Tobago in the second match of the classification round for places 5 to 8 of the volleyball contest at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games. Score was 3-‐0 (25-‐15, 25-‐20, 25-‐15) in favor of the South American team whose best scorer was Amanda Coneo with 11 points. Kelly Anne Billingy registered 10 points for Trinidad and Tobago, that surrendered 38 points by mistakes. Colombia only gave up 14 and dominated in the serve 5-‐1.
