Dominican Republic conquer their fourth crown in a row at CACG CORDOBA, Mexico, November 20, 2014 - Dominican Republic claimed the crown at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games after beating Puerto Rico in straight sets 25-19, 25-19 and 25-19. Dominican Republic won their fourth consecutive gold medal and increased their historical record to six regional championships, considering the ones conquered in 1946, 1962, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014.The Dominicans’ historical record also includes a silver medal in 1998 and four bronzes in 1966, 1974, 1978 and 1982, for a total of 11 podiums. Bethania de la Cruz scored 14 points while Prisilla Rivera 13 and Annerys Vargas 10 for Dominican Republic. Aurea Cruz registered 17 points and Stephanie Enright 10 for Puerto Rico. The Dominican team dominated 15-4 in blocks. Aces were tied 2-2. Puerto Rico surrendered 21 points and Dominican Republic only 12.

Cuba 3-2 Mexico Cuba won the bronze medal of Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games in a five setter against Mexico (24-26, 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 15-13). Mexico opened fiercely the first set that was key to mantain the hope for a tiebreaker. However, Cuba controlled the final points. Melissa Vargas was the most effective player of the match, totalizing 26 points for Cuba. Caridad Matienzo and Regla Gracia also contributed with 15 and 13 points respectively. Andrea Rangel was the top scorer for Mexico with 16 points, while Seomara Sainz scored 14 and Claudia Rios 13. Mexico had a light advantage in services 4-3, and Cuba closed with a 9-6 blocking ballance in their favor. Mexico improved the result of Mayaguez 2010, when the team finished fifth after being eliminated in quarterfinals by Trinidad and Tobago. Cuba returned to the top four after one cycle absence four years ago. Their last podium was captured at Cartagena 2006, where the Cuban team won silver.

Venezuela 3-2 Colombia Venezuela clinched the fifth place at XXII the Central American and Caribbean Games after beating Colombia in five sets (36-34, 21-25, 25-15, 20-25,15-13). Margarita Martinez guided the Colombian attack with a total of 22 points, to be the top scorer of the match, followed by Amanda Coneo with 20 and Yeisi Soto with 17. Venezuela had more variations on their attack by distributing it among Roslandy Acosta (19), María José Pérez (18), Desiree Glod (16) and Sharlin Bidean (13). Venezuela had an advantage of 8-7 in blocks and 5-4 serving. Colombia gave up 33 points by error, and Venezuela surrendered 31. The first set was the longest one at Women’s Volleyball Tournament. Venezuela and Colombia scored 70 combined points as the set finished 36-34 in favor of the Venezuelan team. The set also lasted 36 minutes. The match had a total combination of 229 points and lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Costa Rica 3-1 Trinidad and Tobago The Willis Sisters, Angela and Verania, wrote their final page defending the national colors of Costa Rica, that finished in seventh place after beating Trinidad and Tobago 3-1 (25-19, 25-13, 17-25, 2518). But also Jalica Ross-Kydd and Trinidadian captain Kelly Anne Billingy said good-bye to volleyball as they played their last match of the tournament. Angela Willis closed with 15 points, while Irene Fonseca scored 10 for Costa Rica and Verania tallied 9. Darlene Ramdin was the top scorer for Trinidad and Tobago with 11 points, while Kelly Anne Billingy tallied 9 units and Jalica Ross-Kydd finished with 7 points. Costa Rica closed above Trinidad and Tobago with a 9-7 blocking advantage. They also dominated the service 12-8 with 6 aces by Irene Fonseca and 3 by Daniela Vargas. Kaylon Cruickshank aced three times for the Trinidadians.

Dominicana conquista su cuarto cetro al hilo en JCC CORDOBA, Mexico, Noviembre 20, 2014 - República Dominicana obtuvo la corona del voleibol femenino en los XXII Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe luego de vencer a Puerto Rico en tres sets por 25-19, 25-19 y 25-19. Dominicana obtuvo su cuarto cetro de manera consecutiva, incrementando su record histórico a seis conquistas regionals, considerando los oros ganados en 1946, 1962, 2002, 2006, 2010 y 2014. El record histórico de Dominicana comprende también una plata en 1998 y cuatro bronces en 1966, 1974, 1978 y 1982, para un total de 11 podios. Bethania de la Cruz anotó 14 puntos, mientras que Prisilla Rivera hizo 13 y Annerys Vargas 10 por parte del cuatro Dominicano. Aurea Cruz registró 17 puntos y Stephanie Enright 10 para Puerto Rico. El equipo Dominicano se impuso 15-4 en bloqueo. Los saques as estuvieron igualados 2-2 por bando. Puerto Rico entregó 21 puntos y Dominicana sólo 12.

Cuba 3-2 Mexico Cuba ganó la medalla de bronce en el certamen de voleibol femenino dentro de los XXII Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe tras vencer a México en cinco sets (24-26, 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 1513). México abrió fuerte en el primer set, lo cual fue clave para poder mantener la esperanza de forzar un desempate, aunque Cuba controlaría los puntos finales. Melissa Vargas fue la jugadora más efectiva del encuentro, totalizando 26 puntos para Cuba. Caridad Matienzo y Regla Gracia contribuyeron también con el marcador al aportar 15 y 13 puntos.
