SOCIAL WORK VIVA VÔLEI Supported by national and international organizations, the Viva Vôlei Programme was introduced in 1999 by the Brazilian Confederation of Volleyball, when Mr. Ary Graça was already President of CBV and became President of the Viva Vôlei Institute. Its aim is to educate and socialize low-income-community boys and girls from 7 (seven) to 14 (fourteen) years old through the sport, contributing to their development, building ethical moral and values as well as indissoluble spontaneous and emotional bonds of children with sport. In 2003, the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation has received ISO 9001:2000 certification, awarded for excellence in Sports Management, the first sports management organization in the world to receive such recognition. In the same year, Viva Vôlei was awarded with the seal of UNESCO, and later in 2005 the Programme received the approval of the Child and Adolescent National Council (CONANDA) to raise funds through the National Fund for Children and Adolescents (CANF). The Ministry of Justice, through the Public National Security Secretariat, inserted Viva Vôlei in the Public Order City Plan as an activity for prevention of violence and social integration of children and adolescents. Today VivaVôlei is established in every region of Brazil, with more than 80 (eighty) centers in operation, reaching approximately 25,000 (twenty-five thousand) children and adolescents from poor communities in 13 (thirteen) Brazilian States, generating about three hundred and fifty direct and indirect jobs. NGO – TEM QUEM QUEIRA The Non-Governmental Organization Tem Quem Queira is a project that implements techniques to use the leftovers of events and publicity, like vinyl tarps, canvas, billboards, banners amongst others, as raw material to make their products, such as toilet bags, vanity bags, gifts and women’s bags. Besides the great advantage of the raw material, production process plays a great social role, which has an important detail: the hand labor is prison. Today the project is established at Núcleo Prisional Ferreira Neto, which is a State Prison in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro (BR), for women only. The Brazilian Confederation of Volleyball supports the NGO, buying the material from them for the CBV Volleyball events. http://www.temquemqueira.com.br
NGO – ONDA CARIOCA With the slogan “Tailoring the future”, the project consists of the environmental management of waste vinyl canvas, including the services of collection, transportation, storage, weighing and proper disposal through reuse to create unique pieces, such as umbrellas, bags and gifts. Apart from the sewing course, the project also houses a Centre for Vocational Education in the sewing area of discarded pads for low-income community Terreirão (Rio de Janeiro – BR), with modules of citizenship and the environment. The Brazilian Confederation of Volleyball supports the NGO, buying the material from them for the CBV Volleyball events. http://www.ondacarioca.org.br/
