What is Breast Cancer? Breast cancer is a disease in which cells in the breast grow out of control. There are different kinds of breast cancer. The kind of breast cancer depends on which cells in the breast turn into cancer. Breast cancer can begin in different parts of the breast. A breast is made up of three main parts: lobules, ducts, and connective tissue. The lobules are the glands that produce milk. The ducts are tubes that carry milk to the nipple. The connective tissue (which consists of fibrous and faty tissue) surrounds and holds everything together. Most breast cancers begin in the ducts or lobules. Breast cancer can spread outside the breast through blood vessels and lymph vessels parts of the body, it is said to have metastasized when breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body.
Kinds of Breast Cancer The most common kinds of breast cancer are— Invasive ductal carcinoma. The cancer cells grow outside the ducts into other parts of the breast tissue. Invasive cancer cells can also spread, or metastasize, to other parts of the body. Invasive lobular carcinoma. Cancer cells spread from the lobules to the breast tissues that are close by. These invasive cancer cells can also spread to other parts of the body.

Breast Cancer
What Are the Symptoms of Breast Cancer? Different people have different symptoms of breast cancer. Some people do not have any signs or symptoms at all. A person may find out they have breast cancer after a routine mammogram. Some warning signs of breast cancer are— New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit). Thickening or swelling of part of the breast. Irritation or dimpling of breast skin. Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast. Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area. Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood. Any change in the size or the shape of the breast. Pain in any area of the breast. Keep in mind that these symptoms can happen with other conditions that are not cancer. If you have any signs or symptoms that worry you, be sure to see your doctor right away. October 2016
What Is a Normal Breast? No breast is typical. What is normal for you may not be normal for another woman. Most women say their breasts feel lumpy or uneven. The way your breasts look and feel can be affected by getting your period, having children, losing or gaining weight, and taking certain medications. Breasts also tend to change as you age. What Do Lumps in My Breast Mean? Many conditions can cause lumps in the breast, including cancer. But most breast lumps are caused by other medical conditions. The two most common causes of breast lumps are fibrocystic breast condition and cysts. Fibrocystic condition causes noncancerous changes in the breast that can make them lumpy, tender, and sore. Cysts are small fluid-filled sacs that can develop in the breast. 8

Iman Mangum
I’m Still Here
In my eyes, Iman Mangum is a display of courage and strength. A woman who fought the battle and came out on top. I wanted to know more about her journey that she had to battle so I was able to interview Iman and bring her story to you. I'm married to Don and I have one daughter, Vivian. I’m a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Eli Lilly. I enjoy traveling, reading, atending festivals, and crafting (when I have/make the time. During May 2016 I began to feel a sharp pain in my left breast. Years ago my Primary Care Physician told me I had fibrocystic breast and these lump were exacerbated by caffeine intake. So at the time I had been exercising and taking pre-workout supplements that contained caffeine. Naturally I thought that I was just having a litle flair up and since I already had and appt with my pcp, I had planned to ask him if that's what he thought was causing the pain.
Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), sometimes called infiltrating ductal carcinoma, is the most common type of breast cancer. About 80% of all breast cancers are invasive ductal carcinomas. Invasive means that the cancer has “invaded” or spread to the surrounding breast tissues. Ductal means that the cancer began in the milk ducts, which are the “pipes” that carry milk from the milk-producing lobules to the nipple. Carcinoma refers to any cancer that begins in the skin or other tissues that cover internal organs — such as breast tissue. All together, “invasive ductal carcinoma” refers to cancer that has broken through the wall of the milk duct and begun to invade the tissues of the breast. Over time, invasive ductal carcinoma can spread to the lymph nodes and possibly to other areas of the body. (Breastcancer.org) -Specifically I had Triple Negative Breast Cancer which means I tested negative for estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 receptors. Botom line, these hormones do not make my tumor grow and they do not know what does! My tumor was extremely aggressive at grade 3. (Grading range is 1-3)

My family took the news prety hard especially since my mother passed away years prior from multiple myeloma. My sister Rasha, was there with me when I received my diagnosis. When the doctor told me I had cancer, I went into shock and couldn't process anything else she said after that and Rasha asked majority of the questions. My family, friends, and colleagues rallied around me. My husband, who was my boyfriend at the time was and still is amazingly supportive. Cancer is physically affecting the body of a person but it takes a toll on the support system as well and I am beyond grateful for him and everyone else. My cousins Krystal and Brandy came with me to every chemo treatment and I had several friends and family members who would also come and sit with me. Krystal, kept Vivian every weekend while I was getting chemo because that was typically when the side effects were the roughest. Words can't express how grateful I am for her and her family. When I had too much pride to ask for help, my cousin Stephanie would just show up because she was "in the area" and help me with whatever I needed. I received numerous phone calls, texts, cards, food, and PRAYERS. There are no words that can encompass the magnitude of my gratefulness for the support.
Disbelief, shock and anger all at the same time I was unaware of any family history of breast cancer. My aunt later told me that my paternal grandmother had a lump removed many years ago. Nonetheless, when they tested me for the BRCA gene, it came back negative so there was no familial gene. I did question my doctor about this and she said, that it can happen randomly. My treatment options was Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. I opted to participate in study and went through almost 6 months of chemotherapy followed by a bilateral mastectomy. While the tumor was only in my left breast, because of the aggressiveness of the cancer and several other personal factors, I decided to have both breasts removed.

The chemo in combination with the support drugs made me extremely lethargic and weak. My whole body hurt. There were days where I couldn't get my head off of the pillow. For someone who is extremely independent and use to taking care of other people, it was an extremely humbling experience.

I am Still Here Gods presences was most definitely with me on this journey. In those moments when I couldn't even move my head, many times I'd cry out of frustration and sometimes anger. I would cry out "God I need you now, help me. Heal me. Wrap your arms around me!" In those moments and many others, I'd feel a calm come over me. I still may not have been able to move my head at times but there was a peace that came over me. Thanks to Facebook, I'm reminded of where I was a year ago and some days it's just too much. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and gratefulness that I'm still here To see my daughter grow up. Still here to grow in love with my husband. Still here to spend time with family. Still here to experience life. Along this journey I've met so many women. Some are no longer with us. So the reality is, that I could be one of those women and to still be here makes me forever grateful. The first few years after diagnosis, you're typically at the highest risk of the cancer returning. Honestly, that thought is scary but as long as I keep my eyes on God, I won't allow the worry to consume me. I am still here!

Domestic Violence Understanding domestic violence and abuse When people think of domestic abuse, they often focus on domestic violence. But domestic abuse occurs whenever one person in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate and control the other person. Domestic violence and abuse. are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and maintain total control over you. An abuser doesn’t “play fair.” Abusers use fear, guilt, shame, and intimidation to wear you down and keep you under his or her thumb. Your abuser may also threaten you, hurt you, or hurt those around you. Domestic violence and abuse do not discriminate. Abuse happens among heterosexual couples and in same-sex partnerships. It occurs within all age ranges, ethnic backgrounds, and economic levels. And while women are more commonly victimized, men are also abused—especially verbally and emotionally. The botom line is that abusive behavior is never acceptable, whether it’s coming from a man, a woman, a teenager, or an older adult. You deserve to feel valued, respected, and safe. Recognizing abuse is the first step to getting help Domestic abuse often escalates from threats and verbal abuse to violence. And while physical injury may be the most obvious danger, the emotional and psychological consequences of domestic abuse are also severe. Emotionally abusive relationships can destroy your self-worth, lead to anxiety and depression, and make you feel helpless and alone. No one should have to endure this kind of pain—and your first step to breaking free is recognizing that your situation is abusive. Once you acknowledge the reality of the abusive situation, you can get the help you need.

October Woman Crush JFY: Beauty tip you would like to share with Just for You Reader's AG*YouTube is my secret gem! I have learned so much from YouTube, from how to color my hair to perfecting my eyebrows and makeup. I would suggest watching YouTube and learning how to get the look you desire. JFY: God is differently the center of everything we represent. Tell me about a time he was RIGHT ON TIME for you. AG*I would have to say when I was pregnant with my youngest son. My first ultrasound came back abnormal indicating that my baby boy had a hole in his spine. The doctor referred us to a specialist because he said that the hole in a spine was possibly an indication of spina bifida. After crying my eyes out for days, praying relentlessly, and telling close family and friends, my dad heard from God and God's instruction was to anoint my belly every single day and pray and the baby would be healed. So I did that and continued to keep my faith. When the day finally came to see the specialist (which was about 3-4 weeks after my initial ultrasound),
I was so nervous because I was blindly trusting God to do a miracle even though I had seen the hole in my baby spine myself. But low and behold when the specialist did my ultrasound, he said ma'am I don't see any signs or evidence that your baby has spina bifida. I don't see a hole, cleft feet or anything. He said I have worked with hundreds of cases of spina bifida and your child has no indications of it. I was so happy and filled with joy that God showed up and showed out! Won't he do it. JFY: What does Marriage mean to you? AG*Marriage to me means a commitment with God, you and your spouse. It can be a beautiful thing if God is the center and you and your spouse are willing to put in the work that comes along with marriage . Marriage is not made for the weak, it's made for the strong.

Anita Barker
When you think of inspiration and motivation we instantly think of Anita Barker, Founder of Girlie Girls Mentoring Group. All things PINK and the moto of GIRLS ROCK! Mrs. Barker took some time to tell us all about Girlie Girls
Just for You Magazine
Where did you come up with the, name Girlie Girls? I chose a name that was unique and powerful. The name Girlie Girls speaks volume about the organization. Girls are STRONG, Girls are BEAUTIFUL, and Girls ROCK! What was the purpose of forming a girls mentor group and what was your life like as a teen? The purpose was to INSPIRE, EDUCATE, and MOTIVATE girls to dream big and accomplish their goals. Girlie Girls is an organization with the potential to make a national impact by empowering girls to create individual as well as social change. Young girls are invited to share their views and values in an effort to create viable solutions through social change projects that address issues that girls face within their community. Girlie Girls encourages positive personal and social transformation within its members. I was very shy as a teen. I had very low self-esteem. Growing up, I was never told that I was prety. I was very skinny with very short hair. I remember leaving out of church one Sunday and the priest (Father Carl) looked at me and called me Kojak. For a man of God to criticize me as a child and to add more insult to my appearance, I knew then that I was not prety. When was Girlie Girls founded and how many members did you start with & How many members today? Initially my goal was to enroll 15 girls for my start-up group. 25 girls showed up for meet and greet and within a few weeks I had approximately 35 members. We currently have 52 members on the roster with 35 girls on the waiting list. What sets apart your group from other mentoring groups? I believe that there are many qualities that set our group apart from other mentoring groups. However, I would say that most importantly, we accept girls just the way they are at the time of interest. My goal is that Girlie Girls, Inc. inspires its members to dream bigger and work harder to accomplish their goals so no mater what issues some girls may be experiencing; we are striving to bring about a positive and rewarding change in their lives. Anita Barker You say "God chose me" he definitely has a purpose and a plan for each of us how do you know this is your purpose that he had set just for you? Mentoring has always been my passion so this has been such a natural and divine path for me. My faith guides me in everything that I do. I’m so grateful to my creator for choosing me to walk this path. This is how I know that GOD CHOSE ME! Your facility is where you have all of your seminars meetings and other events for Girlie Girls. The main thing that catches my eye when I walk in is this wall filled with women of power and inspiration what is the purpose of these pictures? Beauty and success lies in every origin. Having a diverse group, I wanted the girls to walk in and see a diverse group of beautiful successful women on the wall. Women that worked hard to become who they are today. I want them to know that one day; they can be on that wall. What have you learned from mentoring young teen girls? When you share your knowledge and experiences, you can change the world for that person. Teenage pregnancy and teenage sex in general is such a big issue in our world today what do you teach your girls about teenage pregnancy sex? Teen pregnancy is a very important issue for several reasons. Teen mothers are less likely to complete school and more likely to be single parents. Only about one-third of teen mothers obtain a high school diploma. I host an annual abstinence seminar which focuses on Teen Pregnancy, STD’S, and the importance of Abstinence. Relationship abuse is another big deal and it's seen a lot in our teenage girls what do you teach your girls about being in relationships and what signs do you teach them to look for whenever they are in a relationship? It’s important to teach teens about the foundations of a healthy relationship. The girls are taught that a healthy relationship comes from respect, mutual understanding, trust, honesty, communication, and support. A relationship should consist of healthy boundaries that are established and respected by both partners equally. A good partner will accept you as you are, support your personal choices, and praise you for your achievements. October 2016

Just for You
Not only do you mentor teen girls in the Lake Charles community but you also wrote and published a book. Tell our readers about your book and also was this something you have always wanted to do? I have always wanted to write a children’s book. My book was originally titled Madie Moo with the same story line. Maddie is a very outgoing girl who loves having fun with her friends. She is saddened when she has to leave her friends, but after moving to a new town, she meets Lauren and Shelbie, members of the Girlie Girls Mentoring Program. They invite Maddie to their monthly Meet and Greet. Maddie learns what the Girlie Girls Mentoring Program is all about. Girlie Girls is an organization that inspires girls to DREAM BIG and work hard to accomplish their goals. It is also a sisterhood in which members try not to be like anyone else and accept each girl for who she is. *You also have an organization called Because I Care tell me about that? Because I Care is a nonprofit organization that I founded about 3 years ago helping families in our community. Because I Care host several community service projects throughout the year. Events such as, the Easter Extravaganza, Back 2 School Drive, Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Cozy Sock Drive for the elderly. Giving back to my community is what I love to do.

Sweets for the Soul with Denise Benoit
Neesey's Sweets is the name of my business. I bake for a local coffee shop in Jennings called Java Joltz. It's nestled in a shopping center not far from Main St. I've been baking for them for a litle over 2 yrs. now. I think what sets us apart is the atmosphere. We're family oriented, Christian owned and we're very proud of that. Not only do they have amazing coffee, they serve soups, specialty sandwiches and wraps and amazing salads. I'm responsible for baking the goodies. I make a variety of muffins, cinnamon rolls, and brownies. I also take orders for cupcakes, and specialty cakes. I've been baking and decorating cakes for over 10 years. As a child I remember watching my mother make and decorate all of our cakes. She would work on them for hours. I always admired her talent. To me baking is a part of life, especially here in the south. As a kid I couldn't wait for blackberries to grow on the vines because I knew that meant one thing, blackberry sweet dough pies! My grandmother made the best. I have her recipe and I make it for my family from time to time. My family favorite dessert that I make for them would definitely have to be my Biscoff muffins. Biscoff is a spread made from a European cookie. It's not too sweet and goes perfectly with coffee. Customer service is very important to me. I want to be sure that I put out a product that meets my customers expectations. I take my time going over details, making suggestions and ultimately helping them to come to a decision. I take pride in my work and all the hard work pays off when I get to see their child's eyes light up when they see their cake for the first time.

Lela Belton
Living for God I was raised in a Baptist church I remember so clearly getting ready for Sunday School with my Great-Grandmother, singing in the choir, reciting my bible verses and books of the Bible. BTU service was a MUST every Wednesday night...I knew nothing else but church and God. My teen years was not so much leaning on God but making my own plans ,As I got older and setled myself down I went back to him full force and faithfully and NEVER looked back. Living for God is not always a easy journey especially the way the world we live in now is going. Social media makes you compare yourself to others wishing you had their life, setting yourself up with goals to have a relationship like what's seen in pictures. "Let everyone be sure to do his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work done well and won’t need to compare himself with someone else." Galatians 6:4. We neglect time with God because other things are more important. When we start living for God we DIE to our old ways, you die to your old way of thinking, the crowd you hang around, a new YOU is born. Now I'm not saying you have to completely change and dismiss everyone in your life, but what I am saying is a new you should be more Christ like. You should be studying his word, getting involved in your church, speaking about God, telling your testimony(We all have one). There should be no more club on Saturday and making a joyful noise on Sunday. No mam...Don't straddle the fence. "And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15 Freedom in living for God I want to glorify God in everything I do, running errands, staying at home by myself or speaking to others. I want my life to be all about God and focused on Him. I’m secure in who I am in Christ and not threatened by others who can do things I can’t do. And I don’t have to know everything and have all the answers to be okay. I’m also free to have limits and say no when I need to say no because it’s not about pleasing people but being obedient to God. And serving God makes me a beter servant of others. I can really love people when I’m not thinking about myself or wondering about what they’re thinking about me. You don’t have to be like everybody else or do things like everybody else. God created you to be a unique individual and He wants you to be free to be who He made you to be. Are you really living to please God? 1. What are you living for? . Those who are living for God want what he wants 2. Ask yourself, Is my passion in sync with God? God want everyone to come to him and be saved 3. Does your prayer life express God's kingdom? There is nothing more important than praying God's will be done. Luke 11:1 Now sit back and ask are you really living for God or something else? -Lela Belton October 2016

I Love my Hair Toya Duplechin
Going natural was the best decision that I've ever made.
I have been natural since January of 2014 ,but I was still straightening my hair for Awhile. I have probably been without heat for 7 months now. I love the entire Shea Moisture line I would be lost without the curl enhancing smoothie and the curl and shine shampoo and conditioner. I am also a fan of the As I am line especially curly jelly. My go to style when I am in a hurry is a quick puff, I feel so much beter about my hair, my hair was so unhealthy, I had so much heat damage and breakage now my hair is a lot healthier. I can honestly say that I do not miss my relaxed hair my relaxed hair was so dry britle and lifeless.
“Moisturize, deep condition, detangle only when wet Sleep on a silk pillow & Love your Natural
I love my natural hair it gives me so much confidence and makes me unique. It took my about 2yrs to completely transition I did not have to do a big job however I did have to do a series of many chops to completely get rid of all the heat damage. The best step that I can give to someone who is transitioning to natural is to just be patient and to love your natural hair it took me a very long time to love my hair transitioning can be a very difficult time I was very self-conscious about wearing my natural hair while transitioning. I had tons of strands that wouldn't curl at and tons of frizz. Some days I would think that my hair just wasn't meant to be natural because it looked horrible LOL, but after I ditched the heat and found the right products I was amazed at how my hair completely transformed only after a few months. A Mother’s Strength Devin Simien
Devin was a very sweet caring person. You never seen him without a smile. Devin loved going to church being with the youth dept. He also helped the elderly women at church. He was loved by many. He had so many friends. He loved riding horses and 4 wheelers. Devin was a child that never gave us any trouble at home or school. Always respected his elders. He has a beautiful daughter Saniyah which he loved, cared for and took care of. We never found out a reason at all for him committing suicide. Detectives seem to think it was accidental. Due to no reasons or motives of him committing this.
My husband/his father found him. And that day felt like to us like it was the end of the world. It also felt like it was a dream and like each day we woke up like the dream was being replayed all over again. It was and still is very hard for us. There was no note or any signs at all left. We actually talked the whole day by text while we were both at work. We as a family have been in church and are saved. So his death yes has been very very tough on us. I never would have ever imagined burying my child. I would not want that pain to happen to anyone. I can say what has goten us through is prayer and us knowing who Jesus is. If it wouldn't be for knowing Jesus I don't know where we would be. We lean and depend on him day in and day out. It's been almost 3 years and it seems like it happened yesterday. It's tough but with the Lord he is seeing us through it all. October 2016
I don't know what I would change about the day it all took place. If I would have seen signs I would have done everything I could to prevent it all. But he was laughing and talking that whole morning and even through our text. Even on his job they said he was his normal joking self the whole day!!!
“If it wouldn't be for knowing Jesus I don't know where we would be”. No mater what problems you are dealing with, we want to help you find a reason to keep living. By calling 1-800-273-TALK (8255) you’ll be connected to a skilled, trained counselor at a crisis center in your area, anytime 24/7.

Devin Simien
Devin's daughter is Saniyah. She is such a joy to be around. I believe God do things for a reason. I think she helps us through it all!!! She looks just like him....!!! And by the way has his ways. Sometimes I believe she is not here by accident. She is 4 years old. And is spoiled roten by her grandpa!!!
We cope without him keeping him alive. We talk about him daily just like he is here. We always tell his daughter about him. She knows who he is when she pictures and all. We have pictures of him up at home. And Devin is missed but Never forgoten. We celebrate his birthday every year by putting balloons up at his grave and also the day he passed as well. We celebrate him when we ride 4 wheelers and his friends as well. Devin is missed by many. He was well known and had so many friends and close to so many relatives. I encourage people to love on your children daily. Talk to them ask them about there day, ask them if they are worrying about something. What's in their mind or can you help them in any way. Since this has happened. The Lord has birthed a ministry in me to help people that has lost children or loved ones to suicide or anyone that is thinking about suicide. I'm about to launch this ministry, to help these people. Too many people are being taken too soon by this spirit of suicide and I want to do all I can to prevent and educate on this mater. With the Lord we will conquer and bind the spirit of suicide. Love and God is bigger than suicide.

Just for You
At the botom of the boot is a small town called
Cameron, a place that will always be home to me. I am proud to say I am from Cameron Parish and I have some beautiful friends from my hometown. I love LOVE pure true love and Brian & Cherie are the perfect example of true love. Not just because they are High School sweethearts but because they know God, they keep him in the middle of their marriage. They have seen God work miracles and even in the darkest hours of their life they have held on to his word. Meet the Hardie’s, Let their love story inspire you and move you to tears just as it has done to me. I asked both Brian & Cherie the same question and their reply well…read for yourself.
Cherie We have been married 17 years on Sept 18th. We have been together for almost 22 years. I was a Freshman in high school when we got together :) We have so many special moments together but my most favorite is when we all sit at our dinner table and grab hands, pray and worship our Lord together with our girls. Love to me means sharing your life with the one that makes you happy, the one who gives you comfort, being able to share secrets and know that it will never be told to anyone. Love is having your best friend by your side through everything. Love is unconditional. Definitely communication! We try to never go to bed angry or without saying we love each other. No marriage is perfect but we try to do our best. We talk about what's bothering us instead of getting angry. Sometimes it is hard but Brian is the most understanding man and I am so blessed. God is my everything! I put him first before anything ! Since Brian and I started our Faith filled journey we have seen the work of our God in our life everyday. He loves me when I don't feel deserving, he forgives me when I do wrong and most importantly he is my rock... he listens when I talk. He is an Awesome God !! I love the life we have and it is all because of God. He has blessed me with a beautiful family ! GOD IS LOVE!!
One thing I would definitely change about Brian is that he doesn't take time for his self. He is such a caring, helpful and loving man that always puts others first. I know that is not a bad thing but he really goes over and beyond for our family. He works so hard and will do without to make sure we are ok. He has always been that way but I would like for him to slow down... take some time for his self even if it is just for a little while. He is so deserving !! Other than that he is perfect in my eyes! What I love most about Brian is that he is so selfless! He puts everyone before himself. He loves me with his whole being and treats me like a queen. He is my absolute best friend that I trust with my life. He is Love ! I love the way he loves our God and how we built our life with Faith and love! . October 2016

Brian & Cherie My advise to any married couple would be to remember why you fell in love in the first place. Remember all the good times because they will out weigh the bad ones. Always have communication and trust. God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers... don't give up on each other. He brought you together for a reason. A marriage is a blessing ! for a reason. A marriage is a blessing !
Brian I proposed twice to Cherie the first time on Christmas Eve I took her outside and got down on one knee on the jagged rocks in the driveway of her Mom and Dad's house. The second time I proposed I got down on one knee in my room at my Mom and Dad's house and asked her once again if she would be my wife. By the way she said yes both times. The reason I had to ask twice is a different story. We have been happily married for 17 wonderful years but I consider us married for 21 years cause I knew the first time I seen Cherie that she would be my wife. There are so many special moment we have spent together that it would be difficult to name just one so we look at any time we can spend together as a special moments. Love to me means looking into her eyes and being satisfied knowing I couldn't want for more. Cherishing every moment I'm with her and looking forward to being with her every moment I'm without her. A happy marriage is not an easy accomplishments. It took alot of years and mistakes for us to learn that communication, hard work, and faith in God are the key component in making a happy marriage. God is the center piece to our relationship. Without God in our lives we would not be where we are today. God has blessed us with 3 beautiful girls, 1 beautiful grandson, and a lifetime of joy and happiness serving him. God has been there to hold us up even as we watched Morgan and Ayce teetering on the fence of life and death. It is the truest verse ever said when they say “I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME”. If I could change one thing about Cherie I would change the way she feels about herself. I would give her my eyes for a day so she could see how beautiful, caring, loving, and selfless she is to me and so many others. I would let her see that just because she is here the world is a beter place. What I love most about Cherie is that she chose me. I am a beter person just because she is my wife. She is to me an angel in human form. Our advice to other married couples would be DON'T EVER GIVE UP. Fairy tales are just fictional books. Nothing in life comes easy. Marriage is a job you have to work hard at. It’s not always going to be happy or glamorous but if you put in the work, communicate, and keep GOD in your lives the rewards are well worth the effort. There is nothing greater than loving someone who loves you for being you. Also remember to be careful what you say because you can't take back words that have already been spoken back.

Career Corner
It’s still hard to believe I am a Realtor! It’s something I have dreamed about for years. I would literally watch House Hunters and picture myself showing the homes to potential buyers on television. The idea of helping families pursue their dream of homeownership really excites me! I can still remember the day my husband and I purchased our home. We were still young and the parents of a young daughter and newborn. We knew we wanted a home to raise our children in and so the search began for our home. That day has never left my mind and I want others to experience that great feeling.
My husband and I have been married for 13 years now and are the proud parents of four wonderful children. I atended McNeese State University majoring in Family and Consumer Science and received my Bachelors of Science Degree. After many years of being a stay-at-home mom I knew it was time to re-enter the workforce. In a short span of time I was a Substitute Teacher, Paraprofessional, and most recently a Special Services Teacher. I have enjoyed working with children and helping them reach their full potential but in my heart I knew real estate was the career I wanted to pursue. I made the decision, after much prayer, to leave my full-time position as a Special Services Teacher and become a Realtor. I absolutely love the feeling that starting a business gives! It is an investment that takes time and patience; not something that will grow overnight. But with God I know that all things are possible! I now have the freedom and flexibility to . take care of my family and home. I loved my job as a Teacher and I still find myself subbing often because I truly love kids and having the opportunity to work with them. Stepping out on faith and trusting God is what allowed me to finally make the decision to become a Realtor. My days consist of meeting new people, showing homes to potential clients, hosting open houses all while atending trainings, meetings and completing online courses for continued education. I am truly thankful for my supportive husband and children who keep me encouraged and allow me to follow my passion. It’s so important to follow your dreams and do what truly makes you happy to get up and go to work every day. Life is short and precious and we shouldn’t waste a moment of it! I have no regrets and I am very happy with the decision I made to get my real estate license October 2016
