From the SOA Board

After 14 months of COVID-19 restrictions, it was exciting and reinvigorating to get together with Somersett friends and family at the Spring Social. This was our inaugural event and the first of many scheduled for this summer. Hat’s off to our new Community Events Committee (more about the committee on page 14) and our Club management who volunteer their time and energy to make this and the upcoming events a success. Keep a sharp eye on your calendar this summer because these events are likely to sell out quickly.

The SOA Board has made significant progress in shoring up our landscaping, even as there are some issues remaining. Years of wear has placed our irrigation systems in a poor state of repair and getting all this fixed and upgraded will be a major expenditure over a period of many months. The issues mostly pertain to water on the roadway and are being tackled zone by zone. Residents are encouraged to use the new problem reporting system on the website if you notice a leak or issue. The new system has recently been streamlined for better tracking and reporting directly to our landscape contractor BrightView.

Another major effort continues for the Board as we complete our study on the future management of the SOA. There is a comprehensive report on the website that outlines the details and recommendations of this effort and we will be following those recommendations in fully understanding our options before a decision on future management of the SOA. We are confident that whatever path is chosen this effort will result in better management of the association and better services for our homeowners. Visit the website under the section titled “Future Management of the SOA” to stay up to date on this important initiative.

The comment we hear most frequently from Somersett homeowners is “I love my neighbors!” That’s a great recommendation for our community and we are proud to have so many friendly and helpful neighbors working together in Somersett. It’s part of what makes this a unique and desirable community. Keep up the good work. The Board is investigating options for connecting neighbors who can assist other neighbors in Somersett that have needs. A part of this effort will also be to improve the assistance that homeowners can receive from their association, to make it easier and more convenient to request services, obtain resolution of any issues, and help us all work together cooperatively.

Onward!
