JOHN AUGUSTINE A. SAZON Industrial Designer Justin wants to make your life a little bit easier. He finds ways to create well-crafted objects with an easy sense of style. He was raised at the border of Marikina and Quezon City, where he learned to explore both the industrious and relaxed parts of Manila. He enjoys designing with people in mind and solving everyday problems at home and beyond. As a fresh grad, he wants to explore the world of spatial, furniture, and product design.

EMBAY’S BARBECUE STALL Assisted by Keiji Ashizawa and Chiba Takashima of Ishimonaki Laboratory under Habi Design Thinking Lab and Hub for Innovation and Inclusion
My team and I were tasked to collaborate and make a solution for Ate Embay; a barbecue & isaw vendor from Taft,Manila. We then came up with the idea to create a stall that will give her more counterspace and an easier system for her to cook, display and sell her food. We create the stall out of gmalina lumber. The design is inspired by the Ishinomaki stool which legs are angled at a particular manner. We also created a tarpaulin for her to empower her brand and improve her sales.
CLOCK ECO-DESIGN CONTEST Given a used hairdryer, bamboo splits and wire as materials, I was tasked to create a clock design out of these. I upcycled the hairdryer by cutting off its head to be used as the clock’s face. I pasted bamboo splits and sheet around the clock in order to create a natural design. This design was inspired by a sunflower, blending a floral pattern with natural and metalic finishes. This design won first place in the clock design contest which required its contestants to complete the product in one day.
RUSTIC LIGHTS
Inspired by tree branches, this partition was created for a rustic & industrial setting. Edison bulbs wrapped by bended metal sheets are used as a focal point to produce a warm & raw atmosphere. The paper twine wrapped around the installation conveys a natural outdoors feel to the piece. This piece stands 6 feet tall and measures 2.5 feet in length.
10 square meter bathroom was given the overall budget of 20,000 pesos for rennovation. I wanted to create a rustic beach feel to the bathroom using natural colors and elements. Using bathroom accessories and beige tiles, I conveyed the warm vibe of the sand and creatures of the tropical beach. Displayed on the toilet is a art sculpture made by Ann Pamintuan while it is complimented by an accent mirror from Dapitan.
INTERIOR DESIGN
NIKE POP UP STORE
Challenged to create a pop-up store for Nike, I decided to design it with regards to the previous looks of Nike’s stores. The front portion of the store is covered in LED lights that will mimic the colors of the sun during a sunset giving the overall theme: Run the Horizon. Concrete, and wood finishes were placed in order to produce a contemporary look.
3D DESIGN STUDY Assisted by Kenneth Cobonpue, 3 rectilinear forms were combined to create a design. Proportion, direction, scale, perspective was explored and learned. This exercise plays with the concept of Dominant, Subdominant and Subordinate elements in order to create a harmonious design. Modeling clay is used in order to mold the form.
SURFACE DEVELOPMENT
This project explores surface development. Bristol board was used in order to form textures surfaces. Different forms were developed and placed onto icosahedron bases to create a complex wall. The top structure is my work.
