Including the East coast of Sicily, from the city of Catania to the Messina strait and all the charming villages on the slopes of Mount Etna, the Taormina Etna district is certainly one of the most enchanting and intriguing areas in Sicily. The Ionian Riviera offers an astonishing sight of the nature: Mount Etna dominating bays and cobalt blue waters, while covered with snow or sprinkling lava.

The master bedroom, with its private Jacuzzi inside, has stunning views both of the sea and Mount Etna from its window-walls, while the others have doors opening onto terraces or balconies, giving a true sense of luxury. The garden, with statues and fountains give colours and freshness and also leads from the main building, to an elegant annex composed by two further double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large living room with fireplace, a modern kitchen and a private gym on the top floor. Finally, the spectacular infinity pool lies on a top terrace, overlooking the rooftops of Taormina, the Mediterranean sea and the volcano, a breathtaking panorama, the like of which we have never seen.

Built in 1968 by the painter Gunvor Advocaat and her husband Thurmann Nielsen Oistein, a graphic artist, Villa Sofia offers to its guests a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean sea from its terrace-garden filled with exotic trees and flowers. The Mediterranean-style floors in some of the rooms, the ancient Sicilian decorations (cart keys and wheels, jars, horseshoes, stirrups, large stones and small old carriage lamps), the large wooden door set within a lava stone frame, and the mosaics created using sea pebbles collected from the beach that lies in the area in front of the door , have been carefully preserved by the current owners. The furnishings are typically Sicilian in color and style and the modern elements blend in perfectly with the original structure. The villa is around 1.3 Km from the main high street of Taormina and from the cable car which, with its 3 minutes ride in the summer months, is the best way to reach the beaches of Mazzarò.

Originally constructed over 500 years ago, this 15th century villa was lovingly restored in 2011 by its owners who chose to mantain every original element such as stone vaults, precious ancient floors and XVI century’s sculptures. The villa sits on a hillside and overlooks the Graniti River valley, covered in orange, lemon, and almond groves. The villa benefits from a 3 hectares garden graced by 500-year old olive trees, flowers, fruit and nut trees, and multiple terraces for dining or sunbathing. The villa's original colonnade, characterized by grand arches, is lighted by a series of ceramic chandeliers designed expressly for the villa. The villa itself is accessed via a paved, two-lane road. It is a wonderful villa in the typical Egadi Islands style. It rises behind Cala Azzurra and Cala Rossa, only three minutes far by cycling from the sea and fifteen from the centre. It is surrounded by 15k metres of lands, in which three small quarry were used to be exploited for the extraction of tuff.
