I
magine a land with no fences and walls. Imagine vast, open and free countryside unchanged for millennium. Imagine a land where travel is still an experience of the senses and challenge to all your assumptions about the world.
I
magine a country with boundless grasslands and white peaks of the mountains touching immense blue sky. A country where the sand dunes stretch as far as the eyes can see while the wind and rays of the sun dance around you. A country where deep vast lakes stretch into the far distance, the water is so clear and fresh that you can drink from them.
I
magine a culture unchanged for centuries, hospitality which welcomes you to enter into each and every door. Culture where wealth is measured in happiness and big families. Lifestyle which passes through the seasons in tune with natural rhythm and cycle, rather than the dials on the clock. As we rush headlong ever deeper into the 21st century wired to the machines and gadgets, but disconnected from our souls, it may be hard to imagine such a country. However if such place where above mentioned things are possible has captured your imagination and stirred some yearning within your soul to see, experience and feel that place. Then there is only one explanation for your feelings.

Notes: Lake Khuvsgul, Mongolia’s “Blue Pearl”, is located two kilometers above sea level in the northernmost province of Mongolia. It is frozen from January until May. The Lake’s unbelievably clear water is still untouched by industry and modern urban life; so much that one can see every detail of fish that are a dozen or more meters under water. Lake Khuvsgul, the second largest fresh water lake in Central Asia, contains two percent of the world’s fresh water. It is supplied by some 96 rivers that flow into the lake. During winter, over a meter of ice covers the lake. The locals hold annual ice festivals, where ice-skating, crosscountry skiing and horse sledding take place. Several ethnic minorities groups such as the Buriat, the Darkhad and the Dukha (also known as the Tsaatan reindeer herders) reside in Khuvsgul Aimag.
