It’s a comprehensive listing of the programs and resources available in our area. And it’s a showcase for the advertisers that support them. We hope you, our readers, will turn to the Guide when you need a resource. WU Hillel enriches the lives of Jewish students by building community on campus and connecting to Hillel nationally and globally. Student-led and student-run, it is a recognized club on campus and interacts with the RWU student senate. Students gather regularly for Shabbat, Jewish holidays and an annual Passover seder. Other opportunities to educate the larger campus community about Judaism include a collaboration with the RWU Roving Eye Film Festival and FLICKERS: RI International Film Festival. Each semester (in November and April), a three-day film festival on the Jewish experience is organized, with screenings of the latest documentaries and short and feature films open to the campus

We are a newly formed, combined entity of Jewish Family Service (JFS) and Jewish Seniors Agency of Rhode Island (JSARI). We are a social service and housing agency poised to serve RI constituents and beyond. The agency provides a single-entry point for services. Communication within the agency permits the identification and fulfillment of client needs including: The Counseling Center, case management, Kesher, Lifeline, Partners in Care, Adoption Options, Jewish Eldercare of RI, The Louis and Goldie Chester Full Plate Kosher Food Pantry, Kosher Senior Cafes and Kosher Meals on Wheels. he Providence site offers a Kosher lunch Monday through Friday at noon for seniors and adults with disabilities. The Cranston site offers a noon meal on Fridays only. Local Kosher caterer, Accounting for Taste, ensures meals are both tasty and nutritious. Each site provides a variety of programs, including lectures, music, bingo, dance therapy, blood pressure screening, and kibbitz groups. Reservations for lunch are required two days in advance. A suggested donation of $3 per meal is appreciated, but there is no charge for scheduled social activities. Transportation to and from each site can be coordinated for local residents. he Rhode Island Jewish Museum is housed in the Sons of Jacob Synagogue building that was founded in 1896 by newly arrived immigrants from Russia, Poland and Austria. There were 2 dozen other synagogues chartered in the city in the same era, but this is the only one still intact, and architecturally significant as an example of early 20th century Orthodox culture. Construction began in 1906 and was completed in 1922. When you come for a visit, you will be standing in an artifact while touring throughout the historical monument. irthright Israel provides the gift of first-time, peer group, educational trips to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 32 for free.
