Personal Statement In the 3rd year when I was studying in Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology one design team from the Netherlands arrived in Beijing to cooperate with local designers for the China-Holland Beijing Fashion Week Design Activity. I worked as the media partner for a pair of Holland dyeing and weaving designers to make a series of fragmentary T-shirt, then they dipped and dyed with different red natural coloring matters. This process was to express the process of clothing from the very beginning to its completion. The dip-dye is also accomplished from light to dark, in which the most difficult part lied in controlling the steps of transition.
For men fashion design, I pay a lot of attention to outline shape, details and the sense of line, pursue the expression power of clear and simple. As for men fashion design, firstly I got the feeling from men’s design of Raf Simons whose designs are full of a distinct sense of construction and minimalism style. I admire his neat use of single lines that asymmetry is often presented in his designs. No matter the design of pockets or some inherited traditional elements both are appeared in high-class customized making and the application in real life. Emotional color takes the priority.
What I am going to do is to design men fashion dress with knitting method so as to make them add more comfort to men’s body as well as break the solemn feeling of men fashion. I want to add some Pop vulgar interest in pattern and cutting in order to keep the attitude of life on one hand and concern the feeling of wearers on the other. I want to build a knitting world where people wear soft and comfortable clothing in a positive mood.
