01 ATH-THUQABA ISLAND 2023 Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura Ath-Thuqaba Island is a luxury development for the client NEOM, and consists of two islands featuring 3 resorts, 2 villages, 60+ villas, 8 mega-mansions, a golf course, and a wide array of leisure activities. The Detailed Masterplan (DMP) phase of project design required adapting the conceptual masterplan to construction and environmental codes, iterations of island configuration, and terraforming the island in 3D to adapt to the 2D masterplan and requirements for individual assets. The DMP also required conceptual and preliminary technical design of individual assets. I was the lead team member for the design of 5.000m2 residences, subterranean in nature with sea views, meant to evoke quarries. Professional renders were produced using digital 3D models that I completed. I also contributed significantly to production of architectural plans and sections, render views, and diagrams, and project concept.
02 SÈMÈ CITY 2023 Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura Sèmè City is a new university city in the country of Benin in western Africa. Financial resources are limited, thus building and campus design required passive climate control as well as locally sourced materials and construction methods. I was lead 3D modeller in Rhino for the entire project, contributing significantly to concept design and production.
03 SOTOMAYOR HOUSES 2020-2021 Nelligan White Architects Sotomayor Houses is a public housing development in New York City, consisting of 26 towers and home to thousands of residents. The development had not been substantially renovated in the decades since its initial construction. Nelligan White Architects lead the design and construction works to renovate the façades and roofs. Although an intern, I acted as an assistant project manager coordinating communications between all stakeholders, completing deficiency reports concurrently with construction, cross-checking hundreds of submittals for approval, creating construction drawings for bulkheads, and presenting daily updates to the Nelligan White team.
04 LAND USE PLAN - PANAMA
OLÍMPICA
2019 SUMA Arquitectos y Planificadores Urbanos The Land Use Plan for the City of Panama proposes a more walkable, bikeable, and equitable urban environment with densified building form in conjunction with the under construction metro system, thus refocusing development away from car-oriented arterials to urban villages anchored by metro stations. The Matíaz Hernández River, pictured here, is a specific example of the proposed transformations. Reactivation and remediation of the river and its surroundings will allow pedestrian and bicycle networks to connect with metro stations perpendicularly. My role was to propose a conceptual massing strategy and street grid at the Carolina and Olímpica metro stations, as well as develop images and graphics.

Climatope Study: City of Sabadell
2022 Master’s in Urban Planning, Sustainability & Climate Change Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya The proposal, completed in Spanish, analyzed climatic conditions in the city of Sabadell using ArcGIS and satellite data to create maps. LANDSCAPE IN CRISIS Mystic River Waterfront
Northeastern University School of Architecture The Manifesto establishes a closed loop of adaptive structural and ecological systems centered on a self-sustaining Poplar forest. The Manifesto implements a phyto-remediation and production strategy in the contaminated Mystic River industrial waterfront in Boston. A strategic implementation plan is proposed for the site with an integrated architectural-ecological system centered on an existing food distribution center. The Poplars serve the architecture, and the architecture sustains the forests, thus closing the feedback loop. SCENARIO 1

07 PLACEMAKING MOBILITY Northeastern University School of Architecture A multi-phased implementation of an urban design proposal in the Southwest Corridor of Boston, centered on community engagement, with transformation of streets and intersections into people-oriented mobility and gathering. The proposal aims to connect the assetrich community to itself, and counter car-dependency. Phasing Details
I. Changing Mindsets {Cambio de Mentalidad}
II. Tactical Intervention {Intervención Táctica}
vehicle-dominated space with people program
I.1. PARKing Day temporary take-over of one or two parking spots every two months; usage of temporary materials such as carpets, folding chairs, wooden crates and boxes help create a mini-public space; recommended for Intersection Type B and Street Type 2
II.4. Community Reclamation Public event at a single intersection in collaboration with governmental agencies and local leaders, where the city guides the installation of tactical painting that community members carry out collectively; recommended for Intersection Types B & C
I.2. Car-free Main Streets temporary weekend closure of neighborhood shopping districts to vehicular traffic every month or every-other month; cafes and shops expand onto the street, recreational classes are held; recommend for Centre Street and Amory Street
II.5. Quick Build of Priority Network The priority street network undergoes quick-build changes - changes that are temporary and use materials such as paint and plastic in order to achieve safety and connectivity goals in the short term, while the long term official design is planned for these streets
I.3. Open Streets: Columbus Avenue!
II.6. Quick Build of Non-Priority Network The non-priority street network undergoes quick-build changes changes that are temporary and use materials such as paint and plastic in order to achieve safety and connectivity goals in the short term, while the long term official design is planned for these streets
interventions with temporary materials by the community and the city
PARKing Day Car-free Main Streets
temporary weekend closure of Columbus Avenue, creating a continuous, unbroken route for cycling and pedestrian recreation. Minimal programming along the route, such as food trucks or work-out classes, only at key intersections; focus is on movement of people
Open Streets: Columbus Avenue! Community Reclamation Quick Build of Priority Network
Quick Build of N
P III.7. Priority Network Completion The priority street network has been completed redesigned according to complete street design principles. Changes made in the tactical phase have been made permanent with usage of concrete and other stone pavers; intersections have been raised to pedestrian and bicycling levels and new street furniture and vegetation is installed
IV.10. Linking of Public Areas The humanizing interventions of the street network are now extended beyond the streets into the public realm. This includes plazas, parks, and even parking lots ripe for public transformation. A network of public space is established and reinforced, feeding off the redesigned street network
III.8. Non-Priority Network Completion The non-priority network aims for completion as it builds off of and extends the benefits of the priority network deeper into neighborhoods; the full redesign of the street network can now be seen, as pedestrians and cyclists traverse the neighborhood fluidly and comfortable, all the while vehicle traffic is calmer
IV.11. Construction of Crossings The humanized transformation of the existing street network and existing public/open spaces is complete. Attention now turns to the gaps in the connectivity network that remain: the Southwest Corridor rail trench. New pedestrian/bicycling bridges are constructed to connect previously disconnected streets and public spaces.
III.9. Construction of Public Market The redesign of the street network has enhanced and reawakened the possibilities of Jackson Square. The addition of a new, open air market along Columbus Avenue capitalizes on the humanized interventions and represents a new model of development, devoid of vehicle infrastructure on this thoroughfare
IV.12. Network Integration The street network, public space network, and crossing network are reexamined as one unified network of local connectivity. Adjustments to streets and public space to better reflect the new crossings. The network is extended into other SW Corridor neighborhoods

The proposed Cross-Laminated Timber structure in downtown Boston aims to be carbon neutral by incorporating passive systems and active systems of natural light, electricity, water, climate, wind, accessibility, and fire safety. The comprehensive design was studied through stages of Enduring, Evolving, and the Ephemeral. The building hosts an NGO, and is located on a narrow plot with two street facades, and incorporates a plaza at Friend Street, with a public market and event space occupying the ground floor. The plaza thus extends indoors, creating a new “interior” street, especially needed in Boston’s winter climate.
