TO OUR LOYAL K-STATE SUPPORTERS: On behalf of K-State Athletics, I want to sincerely thank you for your support of the Ahearn Fund this past year. I am continually amazed by the generosity of the K-State family and your commitment to helping Kansas State achieve the vision of becoming a model intercollegiate athletics program. The unrestricted dollars given by a record 7,800 members of the Ahearn Fund are the life-blood of K-State Athletics. This commitment has provided us the flexibility to make strategic investments in the very things that offer a world-class experience for all of our 440-plus student-athletes. From facilities improvements to enhancing travel and recruiting budgets for all 16 of our programs, we are as committed as you to ensuring that we continue to strive for championships in the classroom and on the field of play. We are coming off a terrific 2011-12 academic year as K-State scored record-high marks across the board in the most recent NCAA Academic Performance Ratings (APR) and saw eight student-athletes earn Academic All-America accolades, while leading the Big 12 Conference in overall graduation rate in four of the last five years. Our student-athletes also continue to turn in championship-level athletic performances as evidenced by the fact that K-State was the lone Big 12 school and one of just four nationally to have its football team in a bowl game and win NCAA Tournament contests in Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball Championships. In all, 14 of our student-athletes earned All-America honors on the field in addition to a second-straight NCAA title by Erik Kynard in the high jump. With more than $100 million of comprehensive facility improvements underway, including the new West Stadium Center at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, there is no better time for the collective commitment of the K-State family to continue, and as you consider your 2013 annual Ahearn Fund gift, please know every dollar makes an impact. Our Ahearn Fund staff looks forward to answering any questions that you may have regarding membership in the Ahearn Fund, seating or parking and would also be honored to visit with you in person. We look forward to the 2012-13 season, and with your support, achieving our goal of being a model intercollegiate athletics program. Please join us. Go ‘Cats!

The Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund, now officially known as the Ahearn Fund, was founded in 1964 with the primary objective of raising money from the private sector to assist with rising scholarship costs. While this continues to be one of its main objectives, the Ahearn Fund has evolved into something much more; an Excellence Fund to support a world-class studentathlete experience, including academic support services, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, equipment, and travel; as well as an advantage in supporting enhancements, attracting and retaining outstanding head and assistant coaches, and supporting our recruiting efforts with a national reach. Throughout K-State’s stellar athletics history, Ahearn Fund members have provided support for thousands of student-athletes who have proudly worn the Purple and White.

K-STATE ATHLETICS YEAR IN REVIEW
U
Under the leadership of athletics director John Currie, K-State Athletics had yet another stellar year on and off the playing fields in 2011-12. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in women’s volleyball, finished No. 8 in the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rankings, earned an AT&T Cotton Bowl berth and went on to become the lone Big 12 school and one of only four in the nation to advance to a bowl game and win contests in the NCAA volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball tournaments. Highlighted by London Olympic silver medalist and NCAA high jump champion Erik Kynard, K-State saw 18 student-athletes earn All-American honors and 24 earn distinction to All-Big 12 squads in 2011-12.

W
Why is it important that I make my pledge and send in at least 25 percent of my contribution by March 1?
important that it can accurately project revenue for not only for planning but also for budgeting purposes. The budget process begins in March each year and the books are closed on June 30.
Meeting the March 1 deadline helps the staff provide the best possible customer service, helps ensure fairness and enables the staff to deliver the fiscal accountability you deserve. By indicating your intent to renew your Ahearn Fund membership by March 1 you guarantee retention of your football seating and parking location, provided you meet the minimum contribution level for the seating and parking area, renew your tickets and pay the balance of your pledge by June 15. March 1 is also the date which we will calculate priority points for football seating and parking upgrades.
Once the fiscal year ends in June, an annual report detailing how your gifts were utilized will be prepared and distributed to all Ahearn Fund members. Of course, you may complete your pledge in full at any time prior to the June 15 deadline.
Additionally, having pledges in by March 1 helps the department accurately project revenues, which assist with the budgeting process for the coming athletics year. This process begins in March with a completed budget published in late June.
W
Why is my total gift due by June 15?
W
What happens if I don’t make my pledge by March 1? Or my total gift by June 15? It is important to meet deadlines established in this membership guide to ensure that you retain your current seats and parking. If you miss these deadlines your seats and parking will be placed on our open seating/parking list and if there is a request that matches any open seats we will move those who have met the deadline into the open seats and/or parking. This is critical to ensuring fair treatment for Ahearn members and season ticket holders and giving those members who meet each deadline the opportunity to improve their seats and/or parking.

What are the advantages to paying my gift by March 1?
C
Can I join the Ahearn Fund if I don’t have season tickets?
Points are credited only as dollars are received. Completing your gift by March 1 means that you will get priority point credit for the entire amount of the gift, which could improve your seats and/or parking. Points will be calculated on March 1 and those totals will be used for football seating and parking upgrades. Points calculated on June 15 will be used for men’s and women’s basketball requests.
C
Can I pay my Ahearn Fund gift in installments? You can make monthly payments toward your Ahearn Fund pledge. Equal monthly payments can be charged to your credit card on the date you specify. An important thing to note if you are setting up a monthly payment schedule for the first time, please make sure that the portion of the donation related to priority seating is 25% and paid by March 1 and the balance is paid by June 15. We will work to accommodate your requests in regards to your payment schedules. Please call an Ahearn Fund staff member to personally discuss your options.
Yes, the Ahearn Fund is Kansas State’s National Fund for Student-Athlete Excellence. Being an Ahearn member, at any level, helps the department to achieve the vision of being a model intercollegiate athletics program. Annual gifts to the Fund are the lifeblood of Kansas State Athletics. Those dollars allow the department to provide a world-class studentathlete experience, maintain and provide ongoing facility upgrades, attract and retain great coaches and enable a national recruiting reach. At the same time we pledge to operate in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.
“Playing By The Rules” NCAA Compliance The Kansas State University athletic programs are governed by the rules and regulations of the NCAA and the Big 12 Conference. Current NCAA regulations require that, if you, as a donor to Kansas State Athletics or any person directly or indirectly related or affiliated with you, violate any of the rules and regulations of the NCAA or Big 12, the University must disassociate itself from you and any future University-related benefits or privileges available to you will be terminated. Your participation in this program and your acceptance of benefits and privileges available from the University as a part of this program is your acknowledgement and agreement that, in the event of any such finding by the NCAA, the Big 12 or the University, all future benefits and privileges will be cancelled and/or forfeited by the school.
