Origin of Hip Hop Music ď‚—

Hip hop music and culture formed during the 1970s by African-American youth residing in the Bronx. The origin of hip-hop began from block parties of the Ghetto Brothers when they would plug their instruments and speakers into the lampposts on 163rd Street and Prospect Avenue and used music to break down racial barriers.


In 1980’s 

The 1980s marked the diversification of hip hop as the genre developed more complex styles. New York City became a veritable laboratory for the creation of new hip hop sounds. New school hip-hop and Golden age hip- hop are introduced in this era.


In 1990’s 

In1990, Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet was a significant success with music critics and consumers. The album played a key role in hip hop's mainstream emergence in 1990, dubbed by Billboard editor Paul Grein as "the year that rap exploded".


In 2000’s 

In the 2000s alternative hip hop reattained its place within the mainstream, due in part to the declining commercial viability of gangsta rap as well as the crossover success of artists such as OutKast and Kanye West.


In 2017 ď‚—

In 2017, many golden age hip hop artists announced their return to performing, including Eric B. & Rakim, Pete Rock & CL Smooth and A Tribe Called Quest with their latest album titled.


How Hip Hop Has Evolved ď‚—

When hip-hop first started, it was just solely singing to a song with a fast or slow beat. In the 80’s hip-hop was used to build a culture of music, dance, creativity and artistry that would give people something to dance to but also something to give singers a chance to deliver a positive message.


Positive on Hip-Hop   

It gives a chance for people to sing, dance enjoy themselves and to communicate through lyrics. It’s a very unique and appealing genre of music through arrangements and sounds. Most messages in the lyrics are motivational and stress the importance of values.
