EXERCISE 1: SPACE SYRACUSE ARCHITECTURE SPRING 2022 [JAN. 23 - FEB. 15]
Introduces the concepts of spatial volume, relationships, and sequence in architectural objects. Develop a series of drawings and models that effectively communicate the interior spatial attributes of an abstract three-dimensional composition. Through a generative process, students will create an abstract architectural element that features a sequence of interconnected rooms that result in a complex interior spatial condition. Later develop and represent the resulting composition in section drawings, a section model, and a seriesof perspectival studies. This exercise explores architecture’s inwards expression as a container and the figural qualities of space.

EXERCISE2: FACADE SYRACUSE ARCHITECTURE SPRING 2022 [FEB. 15 - MAR. 01]
The facade is the first threshold of a building, articulating the exchange of interior and exterior and often making a statement about the program, site or ‘critical’ context, expressed in materials and form. It is an important part of a building’s entry sequence and, as such, will provide us with additional opportunities to study section and sequence in relation to threshold and spatial hierarchy. Adding to the phenomenal issues studied in Exercise 4, Exercise 5 will introduce issues of materiality and light.

Part 4D Hancong Ding
Development of drawing skills to explore and represent space and form required in architectural design investigation, development, and presentation. The process of understanding and demonstrating how to define and describe three-dimensional space from basic line segments. From iterating physical models of associative spaces to understanding and demonstrating how three-dimensional spaces are described by orthogonal projections (elevations).

Light Incabutor SYRACUSE ARCHITECTURE FALL 2021 [OCT. 19 - NOV.18] Designer: Hancong Ding Location: 103 East Jefferson St. Syracuse, NY Year: 2022 Program: Art Incabutor
My Art Incubator is developed from the design concept of Interlocking; I was doing site research and realized that it was a space nestled within the general block, so I decided. I implemented the arch concept in the whole design because I found that the surrounding buildings were too rigid, so I used the arch to recreate the atmosphere. At the same time, the arch can maximize the use of the initially narrow space. The outer arch facade is interlocked with the small inner arches. The independent Spaces are interlocked with the public Spaces, from Exhibition, Studio, Office, and Archive up. The general path and the internal path are separated. At the same time, in the material design, to make the whole look lighter, I choose environmentally friendly organic materials to make full use of the light set on the metal frame. This makes the space language more Open and conducive to the development of art. At the same time, the material can also be modified according to the temperature changes caused by the flow of people, saving energy. Ultimately, while maintaining the harmony, use art to rejuvenate Syracuse.
