The Problem Spotting & Stating the problem Children get to a certain age where they start to participate in chores, thus meaning allowance. In a world that is digitalized and overthrown by plastic, I found that having petty cash around for the weekly payout was becoming a challenge. So I decided to set up individual savings accounts for the children that were linked to my account. In doing this my goal was to just transfer their weekly allowance into their personal savings. I thought that would solve all our problems. Come to find out it only solved my problem. The kids would do chores but not see a return because let’s face it I don’t want them going into my bank account to see their account. So I set on a mission to find the happy medium.
I keep a journal with me at all times. I jot down problems I encounter on a daily basis. In doing this it fuels my passion for user experience and my curiosity for innovation and problem-solving.

Building Personas I produce my personas from observations and research based on qualitative and quantitative and user research. This allows me to create a thorough persona that includes social and demographic characteristics, needs, desires, goals, cultural background, and motivations. This gives me a clear picture of the user’s expectations and how they’re likely to use the product.

After completion of personas and user journeys, I proceed by creating the sitemap. This helps me visualize how users navigate the site, and what kind of content is necessary for them to achieve their goals.

Low-Fidelity Prototype
I utilize low-fidelity prototypes to have early validation of the product, making sure not to produce wasteful design work. Changes are easily and efficiently made from users feedback based on interactions.
Work UX Portfolio
Creating Wireframes
I build high fidelity wireframes using them for user testing. Using wireframes as a reference point for functional specifications and communicating the functionality to stakeholders.

Usability Testing First Step for kids
Testing the functionality of the app by using simple wireframes helped find usability problems before the design.
Second Step Please take out the trash
After implementing changes from the results of the simple wireframe test we moved into the High Fidelity mock-ups. This gives the users the sense of what the app will really look and feel like.
Final Step Finalizing the app by implementing all the changes from the previous test to ensure the best possible interface.
Using usability testing to explore potential solutions during the design process. Watching users try to accomplish tasks on early prototypes is the most effective and efficient way to uncover usability problems.

Low- Fidelity Test Test #1 I first tested the functionality of the app by using simple wireframes. Here are some of the problems I found: › Small children had a hard time on the login screen › Kids didn’t know what day it was › Guardians needed help linking accounts to each account Here is my approach to fixing the problems I found: › We made the login fingerprint passcode › We auto-generated the day of the week for less confusion › We added the parent portal to the navigation menu
Work UX Portfolio
%%% Test #2 For this round of user testing, I present a fully functional mock up. Complete with UX and UI design. In doing this the users get a true sense of the product for final feedback. Here is what I found: › Iconography was great but needed more engagement › Kids wanted instant gratification Here is my approach to fixing the problems I found: › We added simple animation sounds and movement to for a subtle interaction › Since the parents have to approve the work done the lack of funds in their account right away was discouraging. We implemented a total earned screen when they were finished with the chores for the day.

Conclusion I initially spotted this problem from personal experiences. but quickly learned that I was not the only one who had similar pain points. In the creation of this product I was able to build an understanding about the people who use the product. I had the opportunity to meet with people where they were comfortable, listened to what they had to say and taking that information and apply it to a useful product. In the completion of the product I found that it was widely accepted and users were genuinely exited for the prototype. I hope to pitch this product in the future to better the experience for consumers and create life long users for an organization.
