Stories and Soliloquies is a series of rants. It is the hands trying to write, draw, color or blot all thoughts, emotions or conversations the mind is having with itself. I find that true character also lies in the process that leads up to the coda, not just the coda itself. The design diary is an expression or rendition of that design process. As titled, it is the tale of how the mind wanders from that first thought to the end, well, not the end, but an acceptable point of submission. It is a collection of monologues where the mind, heart and eyes were all trying to concoct something to their satisfaction and the hands were just scribbling all it could remember. I wandered, got lost, even reached an uncomfortable limbo where often external forces came handy. There are innumerable moments when I “take it from the top� and just assume that moment of tabularasa. It has almost all in here; ideas, quirks, diagrams,plans, photographs, case studies, overlays and overlays, scraps of tracing sheets, leaky marker stains, maybe even food stains, ugly handwriting, happy and not-so-happy dispositions, music lyrics, abuses, psychotic conversations or rants with myself, submission deadlines, checklists, disappointments, abandoned ideas, concepts kept on standby and of course, the epiphanies. Together they form a mental map of all the blood sweat and tears (hopefully not too much blood, and yes, so many tears) that journeyed from page one to the final page. I hope you enjoy this idiosyncratic, curious, distracted and muddled slice of my mind.
