In the middle car of the R train to Bay Ridge, a woman asks a man to close his legs so that she can sit beside him. The man says “This seat is not for obese people ma’am.” The woman replies “Your dick isn’t even that big for you to spread your legs like that man.” “You gotta lose some weight you fucking bitch!” “And you gotta grow some dick you pussy cunt.” After ten minutes of bashing each other, they laugh, grab their cellphones and silently continue the ride sitting side by side. Almost at the corner of 14th and 8th, a man enters a bachata blasting pizza joint. While still holding the door open, he yells at his pal who’s seating in the back “Are we eating here?” The pal in the back replies “Why, didn’t you find your MILF yet?” Without giving an answer, the man sits on the table next to his pal, opens a styrofoam container and grabs a chicken leg by the hand.
In an empty basement on Ludlow and Grand a group of artists get together to show each other’s works while the space owner is in Hawaii getting over the fact that his fiance called off their wedding because her ring was too small. At Grand Prospect Hall thousands gather at a Balkan music festival. People of all ages, mostly the same colour and probably the same faith go round and round, up and down. One of them tries to make a video of the dancing crowd and swinging chandelier. A woman takes the cell phone from his hand and screams “Stop filming my face! Security! Security, we don’t feel safe around him!” In front of a construction site on Flushing and Evergreen, two men wearing kippahs and payots talk with two other men wearing helmets. One speaks in Yiddish to the other man, who speaks in English to the third man, who speaks in Spanish to the fourth.
On Seigel and Bushwick a seagull eats a piece of chicken from a plastic bag on the road. In a grocery store at the corner of Flushing and Bushwick an obese five-years oldish rolls over the dirty floor of the dairy corridor while shoving Pringles onto his mouth. His pregnant mother argues with another woman who seems to be her mother, who also seems to be pregnant. At Avenue of Puerto Rico, Misha listens to Russian radio while restoring boots for the price of a new runner next door.
At the lobby of a loft building on Seigel and Bogart a mountain of amazon boxes blocks the view of a wall covered with notes searching for lost parcels, and neighbours accusing each other of stealing them. A couple checks the pile daily so as not to miss the many online orders their families sent to their temporary Brooklyn address. They made a sofa to match the painting on the wall. Merry (super late) Christmas, sis! So sorry this is coming to you so late, had to order the poster + frame separately and assemble before sending it out, which took time... Anyway, I hope you like it! I love these posters, I have a bunch hanging up around my apt. I know you love it out there in NYC, so if you ever move you’ll have something to remind you of home. I love you! <3 Rochelle PS: I wanna know about these wines!
