3. ADAPTIVE ARTS MASTERPLAN REGENERATIVE

ADAPTIVE ARTS MASTERPLAN

Our groups goal was to leverage adaptive reuse and embedded cultural contexts to create a sense of place where community can organically develop in Omaha Nebraska.

ADAPTIVE REUSE

• AREAS KEPT THE SAME OR REFURBISHED THROUGH ADAPTIVE REUSE ARE MARKED WITH A DOTTED LINE.

• THE THREE EXISTING PERFORMING ART RELATED SCHOOLS ARE JOINED TOGETHER AT THE TOP OF THE SITE TO FACE OUT TO THE OMAHA NEIGHBORHOOD.

KEY SPACES

OMAHA COMMUNITY PLAYHOUSE

OMAHA CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC

CIRCULATION & PARKING

SQUARE APPLES

Transform your performance space with Square Apples—a modular pop-up venue that puts complete visual control in the artist’s hands.

“The modular design language flows through the brand, where artists plug concert graphics into the ‘Square Apples tree’ - connected modules that mirror both the logo’s ‘a’ and the architectural forms.”

Artists can use Square Apples to place a modular venue at any desired location of their liking and removed at will.

This render demonstrates how combining two fundamental building blocks creates the signature Square Apples modules.

• THE DETAIL RENDER SHOWS VARIOUS COMPONENTS WITHIN SQUARE APPLES. THE STR UCTURAL COMPONENTS CONNECT TOGETHER THROUGH ADVANCED HIGH STRENGTH MAGNET SYSTEMS.

DEPLOYABLE MODULES

The two module sizes are precisely engineered to fit standard truck beds, enabling rapid guerrilla assembly at any location.

• DIY ARTISTS CAN INTEGRATE ESSENTIAL AMENITIES LIKE ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS AND BARS INTO THEIR VENUES, REGARDLESS OF THE REMOTE OR UNCONVENTIONAL LOCATION.

• LARGER INSERTS CAN BE USED TO CREATE MULTI-LEVEL STR UCTURES WITH ADEQUATE CIRCULATION.

KC WEST BOTTOMS
KC WEST BOTTOMS I-70 INTERCHANGE

Lydia, a noise artist, wanted to create a central pavilion structure to serve as a performance space for her experimental music in the artistic West Bottoms community.

APPLIED TO THE FORGOTTEN AND UNUSED URBAN SPACES

Jaimie, an EDM artist, sought to position his venue in a provocative location. Creating an amphitheater beneath a bustling highway interchange proved to be an ideal setting for his artistic vision.

POWER AND LIGHT DISTRICT

This final building configuration example shows a dive-bar set up for popular bands in the KC Power and Light District.

SITE ADAPTABILITY

REGENERATIVE OUTPOST

Tasked with creating a research outpost on a rural Hypothetical site, I chose to create one that would regenerate and nourish the land it inhabited.

3D PRINTED BUILDING DIAGRAM

The building is printed bottom-to-top out of local materials from the site, to allow the building to degrade into the earth at the end of its life.

The project’s conceptual evolution is illustrated through Parti migratory animals, their frequented structures, and a research

This drawing illustrates the greenhouse’s integrated rainwater collection system while maximizing views of the diverse wildlife and plant species that would inhabit the proposed site.

AXONOMETRIC SECTION DIAGRAM

The building welcomes visitors to observe scientists conducting environmental research in real-time. Guests learn about the local ecosystem while experiencing firsthand how 3D-printed architecture shapes their surroundings. The structure itself serves as both a laboratory and educational exhibit, demonstrating innovative construction methods.

PERSONAL WORK / ART

A collection of work spanning personal artistic ventures, academic projects, and professional experience - reflecting my creative journey both within and beyond the architectural realm.

I chose to draw my brother’s room in five-point perspective, intrigued by its ability to resemble views of the human eye and how lenses distort the view they create.

A desk lamp I made in my Product Design class in 2024 using 3d printing and laser cutting technology.

THE LAMP SHADE WAS CREATED USING RHINO SUB-D COMMANDS AND PANELING TOOL PLUGINS. THE SHADE WAS 3D PRINTED WITH A “GYROSCOPE” INFILL TO REVEAL AN ORGANIC TRANSLUCENT PATTERN WHEN LIT UP.

TO GENERATE CAPTIVATING PERSPECTIVES NOT EASILY ACHIEVABLE WITH STANDARD PHOTOGRAPHY. ADVANCED RENDERING METHODS IN V-RAY WERE UTILIZED TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED EFFECT.
