APM WAITING AREA DESIGN APM, Kwun Tong
APM is a shopping mall in Kwun Tong, Which has the most high flow in that district. And in order to change image, the developer conducted a design completion for the waiting area.

APM is a landmark of Kwun Tong, and the maincustomer is the teenagers. The redesign concept is from graffiti, to break out and be free.
The waiting area and toilt are designed with graffiti element, many sharp from and irregular pattern. But it become smooth when it comes to the female toilt, as to recognise.
In order to provide a feeling of graffiti and exciting, lots of trianges is used and combined to from a irrgular space.

The ceiling is designed to break through the waiting area and spread to the corridor outside.The extension of the ceiling attract the people. The triangle from is leading the way to the toilt too.
The pieces break out from ceiling.
The pieces of ceiling make a irregular space and provide a direction to the toilt.

This is a real site that is Tsuen Wan, and I actally went there for the real site visite and marking. I had create a comfrot and warm environment for residrents.

Layout Plan With Sunlight
The site is combined by two flat. The sun light sourse is only rely on the row of window which at the west-north side. It is important that how the sunlight come in softly and the sir flow too. In order to provid a green environment, the zoning is designed following the sunshine duration, how to absorb more light while the space is not too hot for live.
No solid area blocked the air flow, because the bookself is used as Interval instead of wall.
The latout planing is accoding to the sunlight duration, keep the area warm and a well air flow.

The air is flowing fluently because there are no wall blocked.
The hight of the site is 3750mm, a very high ceiling. So, the dark room and attic floor were design in the same space.
The dark room under the attic floor is because of the avoidance of light.
The attic floor is a higher place for user to rest, enjoy free rime and cool down .

The bedroom and bathroom is connected.

Able to see the bedroom and the view of window.
Open Kitchen
In order to let the air flow fluently, the kitchen, livingroom, meeting area, gym area are all open space.
Meeting Area
Place for meeting, display, dining and gathering.
Gym Area & Movable Wardrobe
The wardrobe is able to move and the inner space can use as storage.
Attic Floor
The most quiet place of the flat, let the user enjoy his own time. Tea, yoga, reading, laying, meditation . . .

The Link owns most of the food market of public estate. Some are old and with less tenants. In order to increase the competitiveness of the old market, it promote a redesign completion.

Shek Wai Kok is a old market with low rental rates, about 80% of shop are abandoned. It is also a elder society, morethen 50% of the residents are above age 50s.
Shek Wai Kok market got a high ceiling and well air flew. The space on top of the shop also used as storage, because the shop area is fixed and not enough space.

The fuction of park and market is grouped in one, So the elderly can first do morning exercise, then buy food for lunch. Come gathering and social with others.
It is also a place for teenagers, family to relax and have a rest.

The cover as a tree, to content people, give a place for rest. On the otherside, grouped the duction of market and gathering
The form of the market is accroding to the leaves, from regular to irregular form.
The zoning is depart into different parts, meat, fish, furit, dry good . . . The mobile stalls area is the most interesting thing in this market.
This is the store design later
The mobile stalls area is like hawker stalls for elderly to sell little things, and like meeting the bazaars. It will be rent for weekly, so the rent will be flexibile.

The fruit store is located at the near the main corridor, the crossroad of the market. But it cannot be directly see from the main entrance because it is back to it. So, the wood structure is spread out on the ceiling and to catch people’s eye balls.
The back of the store is used as a storage area for the trolley and a litte rest area.

FOOD MARKET REDESIGN Concept From Falling Fruits
The fruit store is designed with the tree. It is not just extend with the design of market, but also because some fruit is grow on the tree and the fall down on the ground. The design is base on the spreading form of the branches and leave. The freture of the store is the spreading branches and light tubes.
The area under the cupboard of fruit is used as storage. It also can view as another display area because of the tilted form.

THE COMIC PROMOTIONAL CENTER Comic is Meaningful to Hong Kong People
There was a golden period of local comic in Hong Kong. In 1970s, the sales of weekly publishing can be up to several hundred thousands books. It is the collective memories of Hong Kong. But the theme of local publish is limited. and the illegal spreading of comic on the internet was intensifying the decline of publishing after 1990s. Although the publish is decrease, the comic enthusiast is still here. They still read the comic online. And the hot of Japan Comic means that the upsurge of comic is still strong.
In old days, child read comic sitting on the street. They read together and talk about which they like. So, I wanted to reappare this reading style. Feel free and can communicate with others.
On the other side, the image of comic is not positive in Hong Kong. It is not looked as a good hobit or career. But it has its own Art value and message. So a promotional center is needed.

Comic Home Base / Wan Chai This is a redesigned building for comic exhibition which retain the structure of Green House. It is design for comic exhibition.But there is no Permanent Exhibition, so the design is simple and have no own style. The interior is empty when no exhibit, when there is no exhibition.In addition, the meeting room is for officeal, lack of public participate. So, it is need to set up a comic center with permanent exhibition and comic creating, therefore people can reunderstand and join the creation.

The columns and the entrance are fixed. The circulation is restrict by the columns and fromed a “回”shape. In order to make the pathway smooth.

It is designed to be egg shape circulation which is in cycle. The site is devide in different area and the arrangement of them is from the surface to inner of comic.

Promoting the local comic culture - Quick Attract It is difficult to ask people to read a book or comic just by the cover, but the scenes and quote can. So the scene take place to promote the comic by a quick attract. The comic scene is printed out as a big picture to attrack people’s attention. If they like the scene or interested in it, the comic book is behind the picture broad. So, they can take it and read.
If you feel interesting with the big scene pisture broad, why don’t you just take the book behind and have a look?
Materialize the paper comic with layers One of the feature of comic book is the layout, the pictures size and position is not fixed. Some are big and some are small, sametiem is overlap. So,the display of sence is using a overlapping to set the sence board.

Inside the comic - Comic sence ”劍塚”. The photo taking area is darker than the multi-functional room. The stick sarray is performing a comic sence of sword grave”劍塚 ”. The swords array and hanging sticks provide a comic sence atmosphere.

The local comic will publish here and public can visit the creation process. The space is surrounded by glasses, it keep the view while keep the creating area quiet.

It is open to the visiter, so they can see how a comic create and recognize specialty of comic and comic authers. And help change the negative image of comic.
The studio is the extend in directions. The envirnoment is open and can see most of the center and street outside. Therefore they can know there are people visit and reading their works. it give them a sense of success
Designed furniture for studio - interaction with others The comic studio is designed to be open for the visiter. In order to keep both openness and privacy, This set of table is design. It can block some of the view, in the same time it retain a void area for the interaction between comic authors and also the visiter. The void space can also be a little book self

THE LUNER TABLE SET This is a set of child table and chairs. Using the feature of modular, the hight and size of each chairs are matched and can be combine.
This design of table set is come from the luner eclipse, it promoting the moom’s action while the chair move in and out.
THE HOURGLASS TABLE LIGHT Combining the idea of hourglass and lamp, a double light tubes system for the ture over action of time making. When you put the light on the base, it start light up and counting the time by the falling sand. When the decoration light of the bottom covered by the sand, it means that is the time to rest and the light will turn off. The time it take to finish the time making is about 30 minutes, most suitable time length for eyes work, then take a rest .
