Air purifier 5 Weeks This product is made up with two major parts, the main device and the subsidiary one. They could be used individually or together as the users’ desire for the different needs of air purifier in different conditions, thus to express the care between each member of the family.

Starting Point

Air pollution

With the development of our society, the earth is under huge pressure. The lack of water resources and air pollution have become a serious problem that people need to face.

Solution 1

When facing the increasingly poor air conditions, people choose to use air masks when they have to go outdoors. But air masks only have very limited protection.

Solution 2

The air purifier is becoming indispensable in our life. A good air purifier could dramatically improve the indoor air quality, bringing the owners healthy lifestyle.

During the dinner time, the air purifier is used as one to provide the family a enjoyable dining environment.

In the night, the purifier is divided into two parts, the mother machine is used in parents’ room while the sub machine is used in child’s room.

With the switches of the two modes, the air purifier could meet the needs of two different scenarios.

BuBu Car 4 Weeks This concept car, BuBu Car, is designed for the housewives who normally live in a 5-kilometer-living-circle where they could drop their kids to school and go to the malls or supermarkets nearby. The BuBu Car, small and convenient, offers a powerful and reliable solution for those housewives.

Starting Point

SWOT ANANYSIS

WHO The housewives of middle-class family who are responsible for the daily affairs like shopping, cooking or taking care of children.

WHAT There are no suitable small scale vehicles for the purpose of shopping. Therefore the housewives need to drive normal cars or take buses. This small vehicle aims at the short-distance transportation.

HOW Small scale cars are very agile and swift in the city traffic flows. Due to the tiny dimension and perfect handling, it is easy to park in the crowded urban parking lot therefore even easier to secure a spot close to the checkout, which makes it more convenient for the housewives to load the goods in their car.

1. Car space is relatively small and can hold only certain amount of goods.

2. The volume of a car is small so that it can be controlled well by housewives.

Music Walker 4 Weeks The Music Walker is a scientific toy with the functions of music playing and light effects designed for children aged from 3 to 6 years old. The inspiration comes from jellyfish, the transparent, light, and delicate with a sense of fantasy and mystery sea creatures, some of which are luminous.

When turned on, the Music Walker begins to move and rotate at random speed with sensor detecting obstacles preventing children from getting hurt. The Music Walker can also be controlled by parents who want to play with their children.

When the night comes, the Music Player will create a world of fairy tale.The projector could create the starry sky or the scenes of fairy tales.

Funny+Relax+Vitality+Nature Before the mood board is created, we did brainstorming based on explicit interface design principles(Funny, Relax, Vitallty, Nature),classifying all derivative keywords into vision, mentality and physical expression, and finding corresponding pictures to exemplify the abstract words from the perspective of users and apply them in packing design.

Scheme

Scheme 1 The scheme 1 is inspired by the curve of female body and petal, the “B” looks like the little wings and clouds. The soft and smooth curves have the features of female tendency. However, the identification is not strong enough and the patterns could not match the theme “breath” well.

Scheme 2 The scheme 2 is inspired by lips, combining the patterns with the words “breath”. The patterns is transformed in the aspects of size and shape to emphasize the lightness and softness of the breath. However, even the style is clean and bright, the sense of breathing is not as expected.

Square&Round Table 2 Weeks Deep inside my heart, the traditional patterns and shapes of ancient Chicness furniture and architecture have never fail to fascinate me. Nevertheless, living in a modern society, clean and clear aesthetics are my favorite as well. Therefore this design is the combination of the old and new, the traditional and the fashional.

太师椅(Tai Shi Yi) Taishi Fauteuil The Taishi Fauteuil is the only ancient furniture that named with official position, which embodies the characteristics of the Qing Dynasty style furniture.

云钩纹(Yun Gou Wen) Cloud-Hook Patterns The Cloud-Hook(云钩纹/Yun Gou Wen ) is another traditional pattern in the ancient designs in China, especially in furniture design area.

天圆地方 Round Sky & Square Earth In the myths and legends of ancient China, our ancestors believed the truth that “the sky is round while the earth is square” , which not only showcased their early comprehension of the mysterious universe but also had enormously influenced the core value theory of various aspects of Chinese culture ever since. Later, Chinese traditional ideology considered a Chinese gentleman would restrain himself with the belief that the internal soul should be “round” which means harmonious and calm, while the external behavior should be “square” which means Integrity and Honor.

Chair Design

Design Concept This outdoor reading and relaxing chair belongs to a 3-day quick design project in which randomly folded and curled paper serves as the inspiration. As in the sketch, the whole chair is hung and fixed only in the top making its angle flexible. Also, proper ergonomics design on the back curve of the sit cushion enhances its comfortable and pleasant experience. Meanwhile, two “Table-Version” of the sit are placed by the side of the main chair, offering places for green plants, book, snacks, etc…

Glove-Bracelet

GLOVE-BRACELET Inspired by the cool winter, which is generally not so cold, in Guangzhou, this GLOVE-BRACELET collection is a combination and ideation of ordinary gloves and bracelet by using majorly Artificial Leathers and Aluminum as the materials. Expressing strong personalities, and demonstrating fine aesthetic of the wearer, who is a stylish, confident and modern woman, this collection consists of 4 cohesive statement pieces.

Jewelry Design

Waking Up of The City The inspiration of these jewelry concepts is the architectures in the city. However, the basic shapes of the buildings are transformed and improved. Processes: The iron sheet will becomes curly and sharp when it is cut under stress, which is the initial idea of the concept. Later, the works are painted to stop rusting and retaining color. Material: Iron sheet, about 1mm thick.

Flower of Light Design Description: The light shade part is the flowers that made with wasted newspapers. The lower part is made with the bottle caps.

Vitality Base: The base is designed to be the shape of the melted candle with flowing wax drip. The bulb is hidden in the central hole.

Flame: The upper flame part is made with the ABS stripes that have been heated and bent. They are simulating the jumping flames.

Typography Design

Sotto Portico The sotto portico block is one of the features of Guangzhou. This concept is based on the façade of the sotto portico.

Sheep’s Horn Guangzhou is known as “city of sheep” , therefore in this concept I used the horn of the sheep as inspiration.

Canton Tower The Canton Tower is the landmark of Guangzhou that almost everyone knows it, so the third plan I used the shape and pattern in my design.

Typography Design

I love Guangzhou The theme of this design is “I love Guangzhou” . The typography is based on the reconstitution of the letters and the changes of the word “love” . The work was finally exhibited in POPARK Guangzhou (the largest underground mall in Guangzhou) in summer 2014. The lower photos show the exhibition of the design works, my work is shown in the bottom center.
