Hello and welcome to our third edition of the Kaisercraft

magazine.

KAISERCRAFT Issue 3 | Jan, Feb, Mar | 2010 “To inspire the craft world with our products & the rest of the world without them.”

This issue is packed with inspiring new papers, products and projects, but I will let Mel fill you in on that. With another Christmas now passed and a new year started, depending on when you are reading this you may or may not have already abandoned some of your new year’s resolutions. I want to encourage you to think about the type of world you would like to live in this year and then contemplate how you can help make that dream a reality. Sometimes we are daunted by our inability to make the huge changes we would like to see in society. We must remember to focus on the little things we can do – offering a kind word, a smile, a handmade card or a small unexpected gift. It is the care we show for others that makes the world a better place. Amongst the chaos, and non-stop movement of life I really struggle with this sometimes. Carolyn never ceases to amaze me at her ability to show that she cares for the people all around her. I want to challenge you to deliberately think of someone, whether it be a member of your family, a friend or even a stranger, and what you could do to make their day. You may be surprised at how successful you can be at this – there aren’t many people out there competing to ‘make someone’s day.’ If you are successful (or even if you aren’t) have another go tomorrow. I dare you! Before I sign off I just want to ask you to read the feature that my beautiful wife has written on the causes that Kaisercraft support. We are so passionate about the vision and mission of Kaisercraft, and we hope that you enjoy the update. I hope you enjoy the mag, & all the best for the year ahead!

Ink edges and then screw them up. Layer them on top of each other and join with a pearl brad. To curl up edges you can slightly dampen with a water mister or use glimmer mist to add a slight sparkle to your papers. While the edges are damp you can fold the petal around anything round or just mould into shape using your fingers. Allow to dry and adhere in place using glue dots. Draw a very faint flourish and adhere a pearl strip to create that shape. You may have to break the pearl strip to create some of the swirls if they are smaller. Using Magnolia (reverse), cover the large chipboard letters to spell out words in your title. The remaining title can be added using mini alpha stickers. Ink around the edges of the large letters using a dark colour ink pad, and then using the cream ink pad randomly stamp the lace design onto the letters. Adhere title to your layout and add die-cut elements as desired.

Paint both sides of the shelves and all the edges of the remaining pieces and set aside to dry. Cover the top with Clarabelle (reverse). Note: You will need to cut two pieces to cover this as the top shelf is wider than the paper. Using a second sheet of Clarabelle, cut two rectangles (10.75cm wide x 22.5cm high) and cover the outside edges of the shelving unit. The hardest thing about covering these drawers is deciding which papers to use. Once you have decided, each drawer requires two pieces to cover. The first piece is a rectangle 7cm high x 12 cm wide. Centre this over the back side of the draw and wrap 1cm around each side edge. The second piece is a whole strip from the paper and should be 7cm wide (30.5cm x 7 cm).

It certainly has been a busy year, full of opportunities for both myself and for Kaisercraft. Looking back, it’s proved to me that if you have a dream and truly believe in it, you have to grab hold with both hands and go for it. As we begin another new year, I hope you get the chance to sit back and reflect on the things you’ve achieved and think about what you would like to do, and about where you’d like to be in the years to come. On page 62 we have a journal you can scrap in a way that inspires you to fill it with all your dreams and aspirations. To help record and treasure many of the great times you spend with family and friends, we have lots of layouts and project ideas to inspire you. Among my favourite products being released this quarter are the storage drawers. We’re always looking for somewhere to put all of our little scrapping bits and pieces! Also, having three young girls I know one of these is going to have to be made in hot pink and filled with girlie things such as ribbons, scrunchies, hair ties and clips. Check out page 77 for tips on how to use our ziplock packaging, and be sure to have a look at the new digital collections on page 70 . I’m sure you’ll find something in this quarter’s collections to fall in love with and use over and over again, I know I have but you be the judge and decide for yourself!

Use Ella as your background sheet. Carefully cut out the inner and outer edges of the frame of Asha, ensuring you leave an even amount of space around the flourishes when cutting. This may take some time, but the end result really does make it worthwhile! Adhere a 7” x 5” photograph to the background (use frame to check the placement).
