The exhibition area is designed to be double volume with a centre opening with water feature to draw sunlight in. The light from the reflection of water feature and the uneven shadow from the openings provide an emotional atmosphere for the visitor to ponder and experience the story of the war musuem.

The site became a strategic location to turn into a gateway between the old and new town which can be perform as a public square to link both communities together.

The frontage that facing the old town will be designed to prolong the journey of the ambience of old town whereas the frontage facing the main road and river front will be designed to be more confront to the vista. Idea of representing the Old Town, yet linking the new town is adopted.

Creative Cultural Arts Incubator Ipoh, Perak

The creative cultural arts incubator intended to promote the local cultural art and craft by innovating them into a more diverse of cultural arts products. Therefore, tran- disciplinary of arts that major in traditional craft and cultural sketching, painting and drawing is introduced in this program in order to foster the creativity of the local community. It is designed as a hinge between the past and present, reinforcing the identity of the local community of Ipoh, but at the same time expressing an international attitude, reinforcing the relation between the local and global community through the introduction of tran-discplinary art program. It allows general public to experience contemporary visual art and existing cultural art and to dialogue about the important cultural and aesthetic issues. The idea of spreading cultural art thru people encourages the neighborhood and stakeholder to develop a creative and innovative community.

Stretching along the axis from old to new town, the building is design to face the Kinta Riverfront as a key point to bring people towards the building. Hence, the connection of old town of Ipoh to the River front that facing new town is created through the circulation of the building. The riverfront not only provides a more inspiring view for the living artists who stayed in the artists’ colony, it also creates a link for people to commemorative the Kinta River and celebrates with communities. Thus, the public square is intended to extent out until the river front, to carry the interior activities to the outside, yet drawing pedestrian to enter the building.

The south east and southwest elevations are designed to have the pedestrian feeling faรงade to prolong the journey of a pedestrian/tourist who is exploring the Ipoh old town into the building.

The northeast and northwest elevations are designed to have a more welcoming feeling that confronting to the vista of the riverfront and the new town to catch the attention of the people who pass by.

The double volume communal working space of the artists at third floor is covered with the wooden slats and weaved rattan panels that framed up the view of the riverfront. The blurring of inside and outside provides a more inspiring working space.

The composition of the building opens internally, drawing the public inward to activate the central landscape terrace area and the courtyard space. These open spaces allow informal working space which encouraging interaction of the people. The internal open space also created a continuous link that direct the user to the riverfront.
