CALL OF THE WILD
ADVENTURE SAFARIS LIKE NO OTHER If your sole reason for visiting a national park in India is to see a tiger, look no further. Though it’s not as easy as it used to be a few decades ago, a couple of days at Bandhavgarh, which boasts perhaps the highest concentration of the striped cat in the world, will guarantee a few encounters with the Royal Bengal tiger
BENGAL ROYALTY 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS
Day 1 Take a morning flight to Jabalpur. Drive to Bandhavgarh National Park and check-in at Tiger’s Den Resort. With the largest density of Bengal Tigers, Bandhavgarh National Park is one of India’s most popular national parks. It encloses remains of the Bandhavgarh Fort, and 39 ancient caves lined with Brahmi inscriptions on the walls, whose history goes back to around the first century CE. The Bandhavgarh forest area served as the Shikargah, or the game preserve of the Maharajas of the region in the late medieval era. Apart from the Tiger, this park is also the natural habitat of the Indian boar, porcupine, several endemic species of birds and antelopes. The chief vegetation in the park is of Sal trees (Shorea Robusta). The park is home to some named tigers, one of which appeared on the cover of National Geographic magazine. There is also a famous saying about the park – “In any other park, you are lucky if you see a tiger. In Bandhavgarh, you are unlucky if you don’t see (at least) one.” End of the day, you will take an evening safari of the expanses.
Days 2-4 You will go on a morning safari and a late afternoon safari into the jungles to spot the elusive, yet majestic beast - the Royal Bengal tiger. You may choose to explore nearby villages, where the pace of life is still measured by the rhythm of the seasons, visit the Baghel Museum housing personal belongings of the Maharaja of Rewa, see water birds at Bhamera and Gharpuri dams, and much more.
Day 5 Bid farewell to an Indian wildlife adventure and receive departure transfer from Bandhavgarh.
