Teaching the concepts of Engineering Graphics to students has always been a challenging task for the teachers. Students with less visualization ability find great difficulty in understanding the three dimensional concepts, necessary for understanding of the subject. As we need to find the exact point path in a cylindrical shaped object which demands imagination of 3-D view which is quite a complicated thing for the students. Moreover, it was not easy to make understand the students to find point movement in cylindrical and pyramid shaped object! In order to encounter the issue, Sunil Khabia, Professor of NRI College has come with the concept of teaching Graphics with the help of digital techniques which includes 3-D model. By visual presentation, I just show the graphics question in graphical form in front of the students to understand it better. With the help of AutoCAD technique, I could present the perfect figures of objects as per asked in question and explained them in power point presentation in simple which is easily understood by students due to simple language. By 3-D visual effects of AutoCAD, we could move any object up and down to have a view any direction. It may be a side view or front view! As if we are moving the object in the hands. No Confusion, no chaos! Citing disadvantages of conventional teaching in the Engineering Graphics, he said: "In engineering graphics we need to describe the shape and size of the object. In the conventional teaching methods, teachers mostly use board and marker which makes it difficult for him to explain the three dimensional concepts comprehensively. Teachers have to show models every time by holding them in hand," Khabia claimed. Khabia added that with minimum writing work and time, he has been able to concentrate on every student with such techniques. "Grasping power of students is not same. Few pick quickly while others take time to understand the concept. By showing them graphs, animations and models by AutoCAD 3-D visual effects, it would be easier to understand.
