The ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP) is a youth community leadership programme that mobilizes ASEAN youth to develop innovative solutions to the social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges of communities across ASEAN, while forging a sense of regional identity and cross- cultural understanding among ASEAN youth. With strong support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the ASEAN Secretariat and US Agency for International Development (USAID), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has been endorsed as the permanent Secretariat for AYVP by the ASEAN Member States. AYVP is hosted under AsiaEngage at UKM, a regional platform that creates mutually beneficial partnerships between multi-sector stakeholders to enhance research, education and volunteerism. The AYVP Secretariat at UKM is now seeking a young communications officer with a passion for and experience in the area of youth volunteerism across ASEAN, to assist in the delivery of AYVP’s projects and services. AYVP Secretariat staff should have excellent administrative and organizational skills with a pleasant personality and good communication skills for organising stakeholders together for ASEAN youth initiatives.
AYVP Communications Officer – N41 (Salary range: RM3000 – RM3500) Qualifications & Background: I. II. III. IV.
Degree holder in Journalism, International Affairs, Communications, Graphic Design, English or relevant social science fields such as community development, with at least 2 years of work experience. Can fluently speak and write in Bahasa Melayu and English. Aged 25-32 years old. Basic to intermediate designing skills. Key responsibilities: 1. Develop, update and maintain content on a continuous basis for the AYVP and AsiaEngage web portal and for the AYVP Volunteer Database. 2. Develop, update and monitor content for the AYVP and AsiaEngage social media sites for communication and marketing purposes. 3. Disseminate information related to volunteering initiatives across universities, government agencies, NGOs and other organizations in the ASEAN region, in hard copy and electronically. 4. Write copies of reports, articles and statistical data, as required for internal and external publications and other marketing materials and collaterals for/after each event. This includes designing of programme books, buntings, banners etc. 5. Prepare speeches, media releases and articles, fact sheets, brochures as well as other written materials on AYVP for dissemination to local and international media as well as other external stakeholders. 6. Manage media coverage for AYVP activities and coordinate media conferences for AYVP at the national and ASEAN levels. 7. Support the AYVP and AsiaEngage Secretariat in the planning and coordination of AYVP projects and events such as forums, workshops and conferences and capacity development workshops, especially through the design and development of promotional materials and handouts. Procedure: The position offered is on a contract basis and salary will be based on skills and relevant experience.
