LACK of SUPPORT to and INVESTMENTS in youth development ARE SHORT-SIGHTED

Young people are key actors in building-up and sustaining strong Societies and thus equal partners of adults.

Youth is not a homogenous group - intra-group dynamics, gender, age, and diversity are key factors to access resources and equal opportunities.

Why we value Youth, How? Youth in humanitarian action because it does not inherently benefit only young people, but also the communities they reside in. www.ifrc.org Saving lives, changing minds.

Youth as agents of change action for inclusion and engagement of other vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Many countries are in the process of developing adaptation plans and DRR strategies to help people adapt to changing climatic conditions where they live

It is estimated that 87% of the world’s adolescents live in countries affected by poverty, hunger, disease and violence

Not only do young people have a right and a need to tackle climate change, they also have much to contribute.

As they live and play in their communities they often gain unique insights into the local environment, its strengths, weaknesses, and the ways in which it is changing  Youth are : creative and open minded in their problem solving  they have energy, commitment and initiative to take action and to prepare to face emergencies  They often play a key role in the survival of their families and communities in the event of disasters  more needs to be done in associating youth –based organizations to establish safe and protective environments 
