Paula has two mommies
Paula is seven years old. She lives with her mothers Julene and Katalin in a really beautiful house. There is a big apple tree in the garden. Paula is like the others girls. She has her toys and she plays with her friends... well this is what she thinks. When she was three years old she had to start the school like the other children, but her mothers decided that she would stay at home for one more year. Her mothers would teach her instead. Her mothers didn`t think she was ready for school yet.

Paula spends all the afternoon playing football with her friend Ainara. Every afternoon Ainara visits her. AINARA- Hello Paula! Do you want to play football? PAULA- Yes, of course! I love football, do you know this weekend I'm going to Anoeta Football Stadium to watch my favourite team, Real Sociedad?
AINARA- Oh that's good you are very lucky!

Paula lived with her mothers Julene and Katalin happily. Julene was a carpenter. Julene : Paula, don’t touch my tools box, please! Paula: I like playing with them, they are amusing and different from my toys. Katalin was a doctor and Paula played with her stethoscope. Paula: Can I listen to the beats of your heart? Katalin : yes, of course! BOOM,BOOM,BOOM-BOOM...

KATALIN : Paula, do you remember the day we found “Night”, our dog? It was when we were staying in a little hut in the mountain.
PAULA : Yes, I remember we went on holiday there .We climbed up a big mountain and we found our dog near the house we stayed in. JULENE :Oh, yes, I remember you started playing with him from the very first moment and you didn´t want to leave him when we left. PAULA : That’s not exactly what happened. When I saw him, I was scared because he was black , skinny but very big. And he was so cute and lovely!
JULENE: And the other dog, do you remember when we got him? Yes…“Snow” , we adopted him two years ago. KATALIN: He was a very small and playful puppy. 4
Like all Sunday mornings, after playing for a while in the park she visited her grand mother Txaro. Txaro was a tradicional old woman. TXARO- I´ve been thinking about Paula! And …I think that Paula should go to school. At her age she should be studying with other children. PAULA- Mom, I’ve never heard granny speaking like that. She is right. I want to go to school!

Some days later, Katalin and Julene gave a surprise to Paula. KATALIN- Paula come here please! We’ ve got something to tell you. PAULA- Tell me , mom. KATALIN- Paula, as you wish , tomorrow is going to be your first day of school. You are going to meet new friends and your new teacher Amaia there. Paula was a little scared but at the same time she was happy because she was going to school!!! PAULA- OK! I’ll take my blue tablemat and my red mug. 6
Asier: -My dad is a doctor. He cures children when they are ill. Iñigo: -My dad is a teacher like you. One day he took me to his school. It was a very big and all the kids there were very tall!
It was Paula’s turn Paula, -Sorry, I don’t have a dad. And she started to cry.

Amaia: Paula, what’s wrong? Come here darling, please! Sit down near me!
And she gave her a hug Come on Kids, please, look at me! I’ve got an idea. What about painting and drawing? Let`s draw a picture about of our families, this way we'll know a bit more about them. Is that all right? The children: Yeeeees! That will be funny! And the children happily started to draw their pictures.

Amaia: What did you draw? Maialen: I drew my mother and my sister in the park. Amaia: and you Saioa, what did you draw? Saioa: I painted my parents and I sitting on the sofa in front of the TV Amaia: Fermin, what did you draw?
Fermin: I painted my father and I riding bikes Amaia: Peio, what are you drawing? Peio: I am painting my mum and I in the car,‌ going home.

Amaia hung the pictures on the wall and the children looked at the pictures Amaia: Look! It doesn’t matter what our families are like if we love each other. Soon her mums Katalin and Julene arrived, they were nervous, because it was Paulas's first day at school.
11
Paula: Look mum! Look what I’ve painted at school. Look, this is the mum I love most. Paula: And this one also is the mum I love most. And she pointed at the other mum.

Paula and her two mums went home happily. They had had a good time. Paula's first school day had been great!
