Why did I become a lifeguard?
14
“Becoming a lifeguard means that I have a lot of responsibility. For the safety and well-being of all the people around me. I always wanted to become a lifeguard since I was a little girl. I grew up on the lake. Understanding how to be safe around water has been a priority within me since I was tiny. When I was younger my parents used to joke about the fact that I was the lifeguard/fish of the family. So I decided to put in the work and make it my reality. I’m extremely proud of myself that I got this far that I have my certification. I greatly enjoyed learning all the first aid aspects. Talking to patrons and helping ensure they enjoy the pool. I love that I still get to be around water. It is definitely my element." – Claire G (Lifeguard/Instructor)
