Meet KHARA GOSSAGE 12
I have always had a passion for the arts and developed my creative side at an early age. I was always painting, drawing, crafting and inventing things as a kid. As I grew older I wanted to develop my skills as an artist and furthered my education. I achieved a Diploma in Classical Animation. In the year 2006 my husband and I moved to Kamloops, we started a family in 2010. Over the past 2 years I have been working at Michaels Arts and Craft Store teaching acrylic painting and drawing classes.

Using the artistic medium of creative hat design, girls are invited to explore identity and self-awareness through an examination of all the ways we express our individuality. This insightful art project will allow for not only creative outlet but a reflection of self when creating the hats. At the culmination of the workshop, girls will be encouraged to showcase their creations and to explain the ideas, thoughts and feelings around the hats. AM:14894/ PM:14895
MINDFUL GIRL: Genderbread Building Workshop
This workshop will focus on understanding gender in a more complex and fluid sort of manner. Girls will explore gender identity and gender expression, to better understand the labels that have been reinforced in society. Discussions around their current understandings of gender, how it is imposed, and language that becomes limits that understanding. Girls will learn through fun group activities throughout the session. AM:14898/ PM:14899
Conscious Girl: Social Media Busting Workshop
Come explore how social media influences how we see ourselves. Focusing on Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat, girls will discuss the psychology surrounding getting likes and the potential damaging impacts not getting likes can have on someone and where that is possibly rooted. Girls will be a part of PBG photo Campaign. Discussion around the messaging of "Ok, this is happening, let's use it as a tool it to empower us and send a greater message" will help give girls a voice and be a part of something bigger themselves. Please note: only those who have guardian consent will have actual photos posted. AM:14892/ PM:14893
