Fluegge’s Ag Selling & Servicing The East Central Area & Beyond Since 1960 Fluegge's Ag is a family-run business in its 55th year of operation, selling and servicing farm material handling equipment. Fluegge's features a large selection of manure spreaders, mixers, hay rakes, and tedders, both new and used, and specializes in “service after the sale.” The store offers new, used, and rental equipment from more than 20 different vendors, as well as small engine repairs.

New & Used Farm Handling Equipment • Parts & accessories for most farm equipment • Feeding & handling • Small Engine/Torpedo repair chainsaws, weed whips, tillers • Hay/Forage/Rakes • Skidsteer attachments • Rotary cutters & shredders • Lawn & Garden • Livestock/Manure Handling

• Leasing Available

Fluegge's Ag was started in 1960 by Lud Fluegge, on his dairy farm in northern Kanabec County. The business moved to Brunswick in 1972 after the farm was sold. “My dad raised me on the back end of equipment he was putting together,” said son Rod, “since I was about seven years old.” Rod started full-time with the family business in the spring of 1975, and in 1996 moved to the current location just east of Mora. He and five employees currently run the shop.

The business expanded from one product line to more than 20, and from a one-stall garage to more than 12,000 square feet of parts and service areas. Fluegge's offers inshop service, as well as on-the-farm equipment repairs. The store also features a large parts department that includes bearings, roller chains, and power take-off parts, just to name a few. Fluegge's Ag also serves the needs of “non-farm” residential customers with a line of rototillers, brush cutters, and seeding equipment. Customer satisfaction is their highest concern: as Rod stated, “We stand behind all our products – except for the manure spreaders!” Over the years, Rod said, the business has expanded from working with herds of 20 dairy cattle to farms with 3,200 animals, and their primary focus these days is dairy and beef farm management. “We've been in the business for 55 years,” Rod said,

“and just added to the shop this year. We started out as a farmstead service, working with implements that are serviced on site. We expanded to work with equipment on wheels, that could be serviced either on Rod Fluegge, Owne r the farm or here at the shop. But we're unique in that we still offer on-the-farm service. We make house calls – or 'barn calls.'” Fluegge's Ag is located east of Mora at 2040 Mahogany Road, just north of Highway 23. For quality farm material handling equipment and “service after the sale,” find them on line at flueggesag.com and call them at 320-679-2981.

Garden, Antiques & Home Decor A Window In Time is a newly-opened store in Mora that offers unique garden, antique, and home decor items. The store specializes in hand-crafted decorations with a rustic flair and “shabby chic” appeal. These delightful, one-of-a-kind items are sure to complement your home and garden, inside and out. “We’ve been open since August 28,” said owner Shanna Christian. “I really love meeting and talking with the people who stop in and look around. I’m happy to offer one-of-a-kind, handmade items at reasonable prices. These selections come from antique auctions, garage sales, and flea markets. I buy an item, and my daughter Alyssa and I remake it into something unique and creative. Handmade, remade, and improved items.” Christian developed an eye for unique decor at an early age. “My grandparents owned a greenhouse with handmade garden decor items in Crosby, and I always loved going there,” she said. “A couple of years ago I

went back to their old business, which new owners were renovating. They asked if I wanted to look around, and if I would like the old original windows. Of course I said yes. That very day I decided that I would open my own business, and that it would be called A Window In Time.” Christian’s daughter Alyssa adds her creativity to the store. “She’s great. She creates many of the items we sell, and also inspires me to make things. We offer seasonal home decor including fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas items.” Unique and one-of-a-kind – stop in at “A Window In Time”! A Window In Time is located at 842 Howe Avenue, one block south of Highway 23 in Mora. The store is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am till 6 pm. state-of-the-art facility in Mora, Fore Chiropractic provides top-of-the-line chiropractic care to patients of all ages and addressing a range of physical conditions. Chiropractic care isn’t just for those with headaches or back pain, according to Dr. Jenna, it’s for everybody. Chiropractic care keeps your joints moving and reduces interference with your nervous system, helping your body function at its full potential. Dr. Jenna’s chiropractic journey began when she was 2 months old. A colicky baby, she didn’t respond to her doctor’s suggested treatments, but after her mother brought her for a couple of adjustments at the chiropractor, the colic was gone. After a similar experience with ear infections, Jenna’s mother made sure chiropractic care was a regular part of the family lifestyle. By her junior year at Pine City High School, Jenna knew she wanted to be a chiropractor. Early awareness of the efficacy of chiropractic care with infants, being raised around younger children, and working with children through college led Dr. Jenna to her two professional specialties: chiropractic pediatrics and prenatal care. Parents who bring their children to Dr. Jenna say that she has “a way with kids.” She sees children with a range of presenting conditions including ear infections, colic, digestive issues, bed wetting, asthma, and allergies. She is encouraged by how quickly infants and children respond to chiropractic treatment. With about half of expectant mothers experiencing low back pain, chiropractic care can do much to relieve and prevent that and other discomfort experienced during pregnancy. Moving the joints and aligning the pelvis helps ensure an easier and safer delivery. Dr. Jenna wants to be your partner for a healthy pregnancy. While pediatrics and prenatal care are her specialties, Dr. Jenna also treats patients with headaches, neck and back pain, vertigo, sports injuries, and much more.

Since its beginning in 2008, SHIP has created opportunities for good health all across Minnesota, and Partners in Healthy Living has been part of these efforts from the beginning. Kanabec-Pine Community Health and Partners in Healthy Living will share Àndings from this survey that will guide the discussion at upcoming Health Forums. A Community Wellness Leader in Mora FirstLight Health System, formerly Kanabec Hospital, has served the community’s health care needs since 1945. Originally scheduled to open in January 1946, Kanabec Hospital opened early for an unexpected arrival: on Christmas Eve in 1945 Mrs. Walton Regan of rural Mora, gave birth to a son, James Michael, and they became the hospitals’ first two patients. The original hospital was a 22 bed facility and has since grown to a 49 bed facility. There have been several remodels and updates done in 1953, 1960, 1971, 1998, and 2003 and 2011. Today FirstLight Health System remains a self-sustaining, county-owned, critical access hospital and clinic system. The hospital serves Pine and Kanabec counties with primary and secondary medical services. The hospital has a state-of-the-art four-bay surgery suite, a 24-hour emergency department, an EMT/paramedic staffed ambulance service, a newly remolded birthing center, and many more services to meet our communities’ needs. Though choosing a health care provider can feel overwhelming, FirstLight Health System has attracted superior doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacy staff, and nurses

by continuing to lead the region as a top-quality provider of medical services. FirstLight is known for its compassionate medical staff members who work together as a team, earning your sacred trust, going beyond the call of duty, and showing true concern for patients and their families.

Rubes Auto in Mora offers engine, transmission, brake, and air conditioning service, as well as computer diagnostics and tires. They recently added a towing service in Mora, with plans to expand soon to 24-hour service.

“My goal is to keep doing what I’m doing: working on vehicles.”

“We fix what needs to be fixed, and we stand behind our work,” said Kristin. “Rather than try to ‘upsell’ repair work, we make recommendations to the customer about what issues may need additional attention. If it’s not fixed, we fix it until it is.” “We pride ourselves on getting our customers’ work done,” added Tyler, “not booking repairs out for two weeks. We strive to get work in and done right away. If you need your car fixed today, we’re going to fix it today.”

Rubes Auto strives to offer customers both a buying and a service experience that is a step above the rest.

David Youker, Lot Manager/Detailer “I’ve been an auto detailer for the last five years, and have experience in other areas as well. I was born in Saint Paul, went to Braham Area High School, and have lived in Mora for nine years. I’ve been married since 2007, and we have five kids. Vaagenes Chiropractic is a full-service chiropractic practice serving Mora, Shoreview, and surrounding communities. Our team is dedicated to chiropractic solutions for each patient’s unique needs: neck or back pain, headaches, or muscular tightness and tension. Patients may require pain relief after an accident or injury, or when dealing with chronic back pain. Relief can often be found through a spinal adjustment, but we also help patients improve their overall health and achieve wellness goals. Dr. Timothy Vaagenes has practiced chiropractic care in Shoreview for 23 years, and at the clinic in Mora for nearly five years. Dr. Vaagenes promotes chiropractic care as a way to improve health and wellness in all areas of patients’ lives: whether they are having

problems with pain, or just want to wake up feeling better in the morning. Dr. Vaagenes takes a holistic, “whole-person” approach in chiropractic care: looking for underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain rather than simply treating a symptom. He seeks to create personalized chiropractic and wellness plans to meet patients’ individual needs, and promote higher functioning in all areas of their lives. New to the staff since March 2015 is massage therapist Katie Jacobs. Originally from Hinckley, Katie received her training at Northwestern Technical College in Bemidji and has practiced massage therapy for five years. “We believe that if a patient’s muscles are relaxed first, he or she will experience an easier adjustment from the chiropractor,” Katie said. “It’s not as hard on your body. Often, when Dr. Vaagenes meets with a patient, he may suggest a massage.”

“Many patients who have recently been in an auto accident can benefit from a massage before chiropractic treatment. Their bodies have experienced significant trauma, and need to relax to get the most benefit from an adjustment.” “The therapies work best when they’re together,” said Dr. Vaagenes. “One of us may identify a problem, and refer the patient to the other. It’s convenient for patients to have all this under one roof.” At Vaagenes Chiropractic, your relief and recovery are our goals. New patients are welcome, and current patients are appreciated. Mora Chevrolet Buick provides quality General Motors service to East Central Minnesota and West Central Wisconsin. Conveniently located in Mora, the dealership offers new and select pre-owned cars, as well as quality service and parts departments. Mark Antonson has been a sales professional with Mora Chevrolet Buick for a little more than a year. “I bought most m of my cars here over the years, so s I've had a good prior relationship with the dealership t - I’m a satisfied customer.” “We try to make car buying easy for our customers, with a no-pressure approach,” Antonson said. “We try to be as transparent with our customers as

possible. For example, our used vehicles go through the shop for a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, to find what needs to be made right before it’s put out on the lot. I like being able to show the service record for a used car to a customer, or to find out what warranties may still be available. Also, to tell a customer if there’s a rebate available on a new car purchase.” Antonson believes that Mora Chevrolet Buick builds relationships with customers that keeps them coming back. “In the short time that I've been here I've been fortunate to have repeat customers: their life needs have changed, and they're in the market for a different vehicle. It always feels good when I can help a young family with small

kids get into a car that fits their budget and gives them safe travels. We will do what we can to get a customer into a vehicle that meets their needs and their budget.” “We strive to take care of the customer after the sale as well. I’ve had people from Hibbing, Stillwater, Wisconsin, and other places who make the trip to shop here. And it’s more than just price that brings them here; it's because we work to build a genuine relationship with a customer.” You can reach Mark Antonson at 320-364-1418. Owners Jackie and Sheldon Shepard acquired the restaurant in November 2013. Jackie, who’s been in the restaurant business since age 16, managed Emma’s for a couple of years with former owners Dave and Roberta “Bert” Anderson. “Dave and Bert owned it for nine or 10 years,” Jackie said. “They were awesome. We came in quietly: we kept their same recipes, but expanded the menu. Dave and Bert shared their original idea for the restaurant, and allowed us to follow our dreams.” Since taking over Emma’s, the Shepard’s have seen their business

grow. “We now have more customers dining in than taking out,” said Sheldon, “and we’re increasing our business at dinnertime.” Loaded pizza fries are the signature dish of the house, while takeand-bake pizzas are a popular carry-over from the Anderson’s. The menu also includes delicious appetizers and daily lunch specials. Emma’s Pizza is not only a comfortable, enjoyable place for delicious food – it’s a welcoming spot for families and the community. Church groups, activity groups, kids stopping in after school, toddlers watching movies on the widescreen TV – even cloggers and garage salers find a home at the restaurant. There’s also a spacious party room for birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, and other events.

In the early days, Jackie and her sister Jenny worked hard to promote the restaurant. “We went door to door with fliers and coupons,” recalled Jackie. “She was like: let’s get this business up and running!” Now the restaurant is a family business in every sense of the word: taking part along with Jenny and her kids are Jackie and Sheldon’s son and stepbrother, and Jackie’s mom Maggie. e. The store’s namesake Emma was Dave and Bert’s granddaughter – and Jackiee and Sheldon’s future daughter-in-law is also named Emma!

• Four years experience as an auto technician • Certified in ASE’s & GM • Five Years experience as a tow operator Dave and his wife Tanya have built Mora Auto Service for the last three and a half years based on Christian morals, integrity and the standard that all customers’ cars are treated as if they would treat their grandparent’s vehicles.

A certified NAPA Auto Care Center, the shop specializes in diagnostic and repair work for domestic and European vehicles including diesel engines. The new location will provide customers with the same quality service while featuring convenient access off and on the highway, and will eventually expand from three to six service bays. Dave and Tanya Peterson opened Mora Auto Service at the Union Street location on March 5, 2012. “Tanya and I decided to make a job for ourselves,” Dave said. “A friend of ours was a brand-new rookie mechanic, who helped with the business for the first several months. We bought him out, and he moved on to a dealership. He helped the business get started, and we helped him get a start too.” “When we first started, it was just Dave and me,” Tanya said. “I’d go out and help him, and picked up a wrench. I learned to do oil changes, disc brakes, and hub assemblies.” “Tanya handles the business end, and deals more and more with the customers,” said Dave. “But she can step in and do quite a bit of my job.”

We’re planning to put in a comfortable place for them to relax and wait. And we’re kid-friendly. We’re planning to put in a playground for kids to play in while the family car is being repaired.” Dave said that Mora Auto Center plans to hire additional staff. “Because of this move and our additional capability, we’re definitely looking at adding a qualified mechanic or two,” he said. “Interested applicants should call us at 320-679-4369.” “We do our work well.
