Trailview Student Showcase

The 6th grade ran a food drive for the month of March. March is Minnesota Food Shelf Month. Overall, Trailview collected 1052 items or 945 lbs. for the local food shelf and also collected $11. All items were donated to the Mora Food Shelf.

Ice Cream for Books

Trailview served nearly 700 people ice cream sundaes at the Student Showcase Celebration. There was face painting, talent shows, booths for local organizations, and the school was filled with wonderful work ranging from art samples to science and social projects. Over 1000 people were in attendance to celebrate the hard work of the students.

Fairview and Trailview Help Fight Leukemia Since 1994, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country. The funds, collected during a three-week period, benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year, Fairview Elementary gathered up $995.71. Trailview Elementary raised $624.34. Giving us a total of $1620.05 raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. A big Thank you goes out to all students for their dedication and determination to collect and donate spare change to this non-profit organization. The Mora HS Robotics team competed at the DECC in Duluth on March 6th through the 8th against 55 other teams from across the state and country. After many heated matches, and redesign of the robot, our team finished 37th out of the 55 teams that competed. Teams from all over the Midwest and one from Hawaii we in attendance for this competition.

THANK YOU! National Honors Society students from the high school help pass out ice cream treats at the annual Ice Cream for Books event on March 31....its a family night emphasizing the importance of reading sponsored by the districts Title One program. This year Mora C.A.P.P. Committee supported a performance by Poetry Alive with funding from an Arts In Our Schools grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council. Travis a Poetry Alive performer kept the audience of all ages engaged as shown here.

iPads for Education

Mora 8th grade Algebra students recently used the iPads to see the graph of systems of equations they were solving. The app they used is called Desmos and it allows the students to see what happens to the graph of a line when things like the slope and y-intercept are changed. The app gives a nice visual to their equation-solving procedure

Women in Education

It was their continued support that made this learning experience possible for the students on our team. If anyone is interested in being a sponsor please call Mr. Almos at Mora High School.

The sixth grade girls traveled to Pine Technical College to attend its annual Women in Technology-Girls’ Career Day event. The girls learned about careers in hi-tech industries through hands-on demonstrations. Mrs. Lick, a sixth grade teacher, stated, “The girls were fascinated with the many different careers in technology and science. It was a great day!”

High School Visits Sweden A group from Mora High School students recently traveled to Sweden for an education and cultural exchange with Borlange. The group attended the Hagagymnasiet School and learned about Sweden, it’s culture and traditions. They visited industrial and historical sites in Uppsala, Borlange, Mora, Falun and Stockholm. Thank you to the Board of Education at MHS and the Dala Heritage Society for their support of this program.
