Literacy & ESL tutors needed in Braham and Mora Volunteer literacy and ESL tutors are needed to work with the Cambridge-Isanti Adult Basic Education (C-I ABE) program. Responsibilities include participating in 12 hours of free training from the Minnesota Literacy Council, meeting with learners once a week for 1.5 to 2 hours, checking in with the literacy coordinator at the C-I Community Ed office and planning lessons in sync with what the student needs to learn to increase their literacy skills. Adult learners need to work on decoding and comprehension. They need to practice reading and writing words that they know. Taylor et al. (2009) says, “It is important to encourage students to share what they know about the words and to elaborate on other contexts in which they may have seen or used these words” (p. 211). In Minnesota 20 percent of the population has functional literacy. People faced with reading and writing challenges find it difficult to get and retain jobs. For more information prospective tutors should contact C-I ABE and leave a message at 763-689-6228. May 25 Kanabec County Plant Sale Kanabec County’s Master Gardeners will have their plant sale and clinic at the corner of Hwy. 65 and Hwy. 23 E (by Soderstrom Realty) from 7 a.m. until gone. Purchase vegetables, perennials, herbs, house plants, decorative rock and more. Master gardeners will be available to answer questions. May 25 EC Riders Car Show EC Riders Snowmobile Club will host their annual car show at Captain Dan’s Crows Nest from noon to 4 p.m. with sign up at 11 a.m. There will be games, prizes and drawings with all proceeds going to EC Riders Snowmobile Club. June 1 Farmers Market Know your Farmer; Know your Food: Every Saturday from May 4 through Oct. 26, local producers will be in Ole Park (corner of Hwy. 65 and 23 in Mora) selling healthy, organic fruits, vegetables, baked goods and unique one-of-akind gifts. Surprisingly, we often replace poor quality windows that are less than 10 years old. You could purchase poor quality vinyl windows from a flyby-night company but you may have to replace them again very soon. So why take the chance when you can get long lasting performance and beauty from the brand homeowners have trusted for over 100 years.

17 years of experience has taught us one thing about car accidents:
The longer your injury sits, the deeper it goes. • Headaches • Stiff neck • Shooting pains • Pain between shoulder blades • Low back pain • Insomnia
1-800-367-2225
• Waking up several times a night (infants and toddlers have difficulty sleeping or wake up at night screaming) • Foggy thinking • Numbness/tingling
If this list is more familiar than you’d like, call us for an appointment and we’ll help you get back to your life. The sooner a person gets chiropractic care, the better the recovery.
Automobile no-fault insurance covers chiropractic and medical care under Minnesota law.

Tribute Heroes
to our
On Memorial Day we pay tribute to those who fought and died in battle for our great country. Let us never forget them. As we pause to remember on this special day, we pray that God’s comforting hand will touch those who have died for our country. And we say a special prayer for the families who are still unsure of the fates of their loved ones... those Americans missing in action.
